My favourite lyrics (that I can think of now) are: 1. The Killers - All These Things That I've Done "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier." 2.Joy Division - Shadowplay "In the shadowplay, acting out your own death, knowing no more."

I think there's something really captivating about cover songs. They're often atrocious, but sometimes wonderful, and more often than not give you a different perspective of a song when an artist can inject their own style and personality into it. So basically what I'd like to do is gather a bunch of nominations, then give everyone the chance to vote on how much they like or dislike them. I'm thinking that it will go something like this: - One song (two versions) per round - Both versions of the song will be provided via YouTube to give those unfamiliar with the songs a chance to rate them - You give an objective rating of the original song out of 10, on its own merit…

Here's how it works... you post lyrics to a song... any song! But all the lyrics have to be for the same song! The next person guesses the band it's done by and if they are right, they get to post lyrics next... try not to cheat guys alright first song... "[HER:] They say we're young and we don't know We won't find out until we grow [HIM:] Well I don't know if all that's true 'Cause you got me, and baby I got you [HIM:] Babe [bOTH:] I got you babe I got you babe"

http://www.audioscrobbler.com/ Audioscrobbler Overview Audioscrobbler is a computer system that builds up a detailed profile of your musical taste. After installing an Audioscrobbler Plugin, your computer sends the name of every song you play to the Audioscrobbler Server. With this information, the Audioscrobbler server builds you a 'Musical Profile'. Statistics from your Musical Profile are shown on your Audioscrobbler User Page, available for everyone to view. There are lots of people using Audioscrobbler, but you probably won't be interested in most of them. The Audioscrobbler Server calculates which people are most similar to you, based on shared musical taste, so …

Any other Beatles' fans here? The band was founded by John Lennon around 1956, under the name "The Quarrymen" in Liverpool. They started playing skiflle: covers and some original songs. In October 1957 Paul McCartney joined the band, and under his recommendation, George Harrison was included in 1958. That year, The Quarrymen recorded two songs: one was a Buddy Holly cover, and the other one a McCartney/Harrison original. By 1960, and after going through several names, the band was now called The Beatles. They were now in Hamburg, in Germany, playing in local clubs as the Indra, The Kaiserkeller, and The Top Ten club. While in Hamburg they entered the recording studio, t…

It's not a strange thing to hear these days that "Rock is dead" or that "Rock is dying". I couldn't disagree more, and there's lots of new bands out there making awesome music and revitalizing the genre. Some are going back to the origins with a more retro sound though still sounding fresh, while others push boundaries exploring new sounds. Both points of view with some great artists making noise. I'll start with one of my favorites bands of this era: Rival Sons From their latest album released last year: Open My Eyes I love their retro sound and that Led Zeppelin - Bluesy vibe they have.

  14. Just a little music game. Even the best of artists may have a couple songs that are...questionable . You might even say they're pretty bad. You might even like them because they're bad. They might even be so bad that they're kinda funny, so you really kinda like them Or they might just be plain bad and catchy so you can't stop humming them! Anyway.... Rules: 1. The person above names an artist and you say what you think is their best and worst song that you know of. 2. You can comment on any of the above names, but you have to answer the one directly above , but this is not a haven for bashing artists so if you don't like any of their work, just don't answer …

So, this is what you do: shuffle your songs on your mp3 player of choice, then post the first 5 songs that come up (no cheating!). There's no prize, but it could be interesting anyway. I'll go first -- 1. Usher feat. Alicia Keys - My Boo 2. Joseph Williams & Sally Dworsky - Can You Feel the Love Tonight (yes, from The Lion King soundtrack) 3. Lenny Kravitz - If I Could Fall in Love 4. Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes - Don't Cha 5. Pras Michel feat. ODB & Mya - Ghetto Superstar

Anyone else here who likes listening Classical music? I began paying real attention to this music little more than a year and a half ago, though I enjoyed it before. So far my favorites have been from the Romantic period, such as Beethoven (though is Late Classic/Early Romantic too), Wagner and Mahler. So who are your favorite composers? Favorite pieces of music? Some music of course, and one of my favorites: Ludwig van Beethoven; 9th Symphony, 1st mov. It doesn't have any information about the orchestra or who's conducting...
