More food for thought:

Part of my conversation with he or she who will not be named

Water/Ocean themed is still my guess.

What about those who are going through changes in their life and cannot correctly identify as a man or a woman currently

How dare you leave them out

If they do go to the "legends" well again, it will only confirm my suspicions that SI's brain trust believes in the overblown fantasy of their own cultural relevance.

As far as "plus size" models go, I am of two minds. I'm generally in favor of as diverse a presentation of beauty as possible when it comes to mainstream publications. But the problem is the very concept of plus size models is (rightly) met with derision from those bigger women I've seen comment on the issue. They (again, rightly) see Robyn Lawley as not representing some extreme that demands its own category, but being far closer in build to everyone else in the magazine than to themselves. Thus, they don't really achieve the goal of a more inclusive magazine, which makes SI's claim of inclusivity come off as an obnoxiously half-assed attempt to score points.

But that's enough comment on rumor.

The only legend I want, especially after the recent  Agent Provocateur ads is Bar Rafaeli.

That's a better way to break down the plus-size model discussion. If a model is beautiful enough to make it in the magazine. So be it. Ashley Richardson is a perfect example. The concept of feeling the need to add a plus size category feels forced to me, and is an 'obnoxious' attempt to score points, as you eloquently stated. Even Kate Upton was never really a skinny model. But she was (IS) stunningly beautiful---one of the most beautiful ever to grace the magazine. There was no need to add a mid-size model category. She just belonged there. So...you belong or you don't. Screw the categories.

as someone that actually is overweight and thus the predominant group si would be targeting, the whole plus size models thing makes me roll my eyes so hard i think they'll pop right out of my head. i feel like they're trying to pander to a certain crowd instead of actually finding models that suit the magazine. kate upton wasn't considered a plus model, but i think robyn, who i thought was terrible for si, was in better shape than her ( maybe bigger, but certainly more toned ). yet robyn was terrible for si and kate was insanely popular. so now instead of doing castings of a diverse group of models and picking who suits the brand the best, regardless of their weight or general proportions, they're just picking people who are... what? politically correct? win them points? make them look oh-so-sensitive? not all skinny women look fantastic in swimwear, not all plus size women look awful in swimwear and there should be nothing wrong with saying that, especially in an industry that is predominantly focused on appearances.

that said, if ashley is in, then i'll wait to render my judgement until the pictures pop up, but i think she's 200% better than robyn already.

I agree with both above posters. If they're going to include "plus size" models like Ashley Graham (and I think they should), they ought to put up and shut up.

Just to pissed everybody off. MJ loves her. She is Leo ex girlfriend. And she is blonde.

A trio on the cover: Kelly, Kate B. and Samantha :D

Lies, you love it.

Question: why can't these bottoms be in the SI magazine? :( I deserve to see Chrissy in this

So much wrong with this picture that it makes everything right!

It's like an umpire's mask for the ass.

I just threw up in my mouth at the thought.

Ashley is dope though, so I wouldn't be mad at all if she was in. Miles better than Robyn and I know people love Kate Upton but her face is sometimesy to me.

The only three legends i'd be interested in seeing coming back are Petra, Bar & Kate, the other ones I'm not sure they're fit enough for the magazine, not to be a bitch but i don't see it. I'd love Marisa and Brooklyn as well but both women spent most of 2015 very pregnant so they're clearly out.

I'm cool with the blue water theme and it makes sense considering the logo. I'm not down to one-piece tho, i'm indifferent towards plus size models. I agree it's less a matter of size and more a matter of belonging there, I can't stand Ashley G tbh so I'd rather not see her, I'd be totally cool with Iskra Larwrence tho.

And I shall bless you all with Zayn's voice and it's kinda-ish related to SI because Gigi? So I'm totally staying on topic  #RIPJoeJonas

So take this however you like....

So I have my favorite sports show on in the background right now, The Dan Patrick Show, and they are talking about S.I. Swim.

Quick background - they always have some S.I. girls in every year, Brooklyn Decker and Chrissy Teigen are considered "Danettes". They also have a "Wall of Morale" with their favorite S.I. covers. Just to get an idea, here's a old clip of the Wall of Morale below.

Anyways, They were speculating on who will be on the cover of S.I. Swim this year, and they think it will be Ronda Rousey. One of Dan's producers, Andrew "McLovin" Perloff also works for S.I. and when they asked him about Rousey, he smirked and said "No comment".

I thought it was interesting. I'll try and find the clip later if they post it to their YouTube page.

1) Iskra would rock, have you seen her Aerie shoots? Love her.
2) That video would be a 'Joe who?'  nice.
3)Referring back to Aerie, I think SI would be a gazillion times better if they went the same route that Aerie does. No retouching/unnecessary ps. (taking shadows out is one thing, but...we all know the drill.
4) I don't mind seeing normal sized (also known as plus sized in the industry) women in bikinis in SI. I would mind seeing only one kind of suit in the mag.

Just my thoughts.
