The drive to keep alive the name of a young American woman who died beneath a U.S.-made bulldozer driven by an Israeli soldier in Palestine continues in Simone Bitton's sober documentary "Rachel." The idealistic Rachel Corrie was one of a team of activists from the U.S. and the U.K. who lived with Palestinian families in the most dangerous areas of the Gaza Strip in 2003 in an attempt to ameliorate the actions of the Israeli military demolishing homes close to the exclusion wall it had erected there. She was the subject of "My Name is Rachel Corrie," a very moving 2005 play put together by actor Alan Rickman and journalist Katherine Viner. Starring Megan Dodds, it playe…

“La Vida Loca” reflects a depressing and hopeless reality. The documentary, by photojournalist and filmmaker Christian Poveda (you can see his bio here), follows some of the members of ''la dieciocho,'' the so-called 18th Street gang in a poor San Salvador neighborhood. “Little One” is a 19-year-old mother with an enormous "18," reflecting her membership in the 18th Street gang, tattooed on her face. The numbers stretch from above her eyebrows down onto her cheeks. “Moreno” is a 25-year-old male member of the same gang who works in a local bakery set up by a nonprofit group called Homies Unidos. The bakery eventually folds when its owner is arrested and sentenced to 1…

Channing Tatum stars with Amanda Seyfriedimage about a couple who fall in love. Yet, Tatum's character is in the Army and is consistentlydeployed away from the woman he loves. For seven years they are constantly apart only to stay in touch through a stream of love letters - typical Sparks romance. I like Tatumin this trailer and Seyfried is brilliant as ever. The movie opens in Febru…

Hey guys, (if you're a lady, you probably saw the stupid flick only because of your man, right ) what did you think of the movie? I don't what each and everyone thinks of "buzz" in general, but I don't pay attention to "buzz" ... I try to avoid it as much as possible. But I couldn't and noticed that the buzz around this movie was generally negative. So I liked the trailer and loved the movie. I loved the movie, mainly because the really cool stuff wasn't in the trailer. Jokes, action, suspense, twists of the story... Sienna's beautiful smirky smile ... erm... yeah, but the whole thing just rocked. I hope it performs well.
