  5. Started by Joe > Average,

This thread is for guitar solos . Though technical performing skills (singing, instrument playing) in general don't seem to be as important to today's mainstream music industry ..., I love the way a good guitar solo pours out the heart, soul and guts of a song. As I stated before, I love all of the obvious classic solos and anything by Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass and Jimi Hendrix. I love guitar solos from all genres, whether it is classical, blues, jazz, country, acoustic, rock, flamenco,"latin"...I encourage you to share your favorites, there are no right or wrong answers.

I borrowed this idea from another forum and thought it looked like fun. It's mainly for users of Photoshop, or indeed, any kind of image making software. Here's how to play - 1) Go to Wikipedia and click on "Random Article" (Or click this link) The title of the first random Wikipedia article you get will be the name of your artist or band. 2) Go to "The Quotations Page" and click "Random Quotes" (Link) The last few words of the very last quote on the page will be your album's title. 3) Go to Flickr and click on "Explore the Last Seven Days" (Link) Grab the third picture you get, no matter what it is, and crop it to a square. This will be your album cover. 4) Make…

Let's see if this game takes off. The idea is simple: I post a pair of songs -it's original version (or earliest known version) and a cover of it - and the next poster will say which one he or she likes better to then post another pair of original + cover and so on. So, to start things up: Original Cover Edit: I replaced the song because fuck youtube and the labels blocking every Beatles video....

  11. Started by COP11,

What songs do you think have made an impact on us? My first pick would have to be The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel That song can be used in every single decade since it's release Others: Imagine by John Lennon What's Going On by Marvin Gaye Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan Yesterday by The Beatles

So at long last, we now have a designated area to highlight debatable or factually inaccurate song lyrics. For instance... "Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon" - It most certainly does not, Vanessa. "There won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time" - Yes there will, they even have ski resorts. And so on and so forth.

We have a thread for guitarists, bassists and singers... But we were lacking one for the rhythmic base! Those who keep the rhythm and the tempo, the backbone of any Rock, Pop, Funk, Soul, Blues, Jazz, etc band you can think of. We were missing on the drummers! Not anymore! It's time to give recognition to those who create magic with the rhythm behind the drum set (and sometimes other percussions)! So I invite to post your favorite drummers here! I'll start with one from my own country and without a doubt one of the best drummers EVER: Mr. Gabriel Parra from Los Jaivas Same so…

  22. Well, the title pretty much says it all: those songs everybody seems to lose their minds over or those that are considered timeless classics but you just can't stand or simply don't like. I'll start with: Still Loving You - Scorpions Maybe it's because I used to listened to a radio that abused too much of this song and would program it like everyday. Or maybe it's just that I find it too cheesy? Thing is this songs is regarded as one of THE power ballads and I just hate it
