I love the Bojana & Hailey shoot. Bojana looks great in her beach shots as well but Hailey’s legacy as a returning cover model would have stayed intact better if the beach shoot hadn’t happened because those shots are too generic. Barbara’s set stands out, the colours pop and her poses are clearly more SI whereas last year was a bit of a disappointment, the shoot wasn’t as sexy and full on bikini shoot as I had hoped. I think Barbara felt in her element this year whereas she was a bit unsure last year. Vita also looks great, yeah, her boobs are an issue but I can overlook it because of the overall quality of her pictures. For some reason, the preview pics that were released of Vita looked awkward facially but there seems to be a lot of pictures where that is not an issue whatsoever.

 

I need to look over all the models later but so far Barbara, Bojana (arctic), Hailey (arctic), Vita and Kate’s shoots stand out the most.

Im kinda pissed that the videos are so short. Barbara's two videos are barely over 2 minutes combined, including the front and back SI branding. While Christie Brinkley's two videos are 5 minutes. WTF.

 

This is by far the worst issue I've ever seen. There are a handful worth looking at, but also just as many that are absolutely awful. And three that are absolutely disgusting...just gross.

 

Were any of the teasers Kate? I don't remember any of the suits she wore in them.

 

Barbara is by far the standout this issue. She had a great variety of facial expressions, poses, etc. A lot of her shots were cover worthy tbh.

Yes, Barbara is the standout of the issue for sure. Hailey looked great, and I didn't know that Bo could look that good. I like Vita a lot, and I thought Myla looked great. Hannah F is very sexy but the shoot is just odd. Nina, as always, is amazing. And I'm a Kate Upton fan. A little disappointed by Lais' pictures, as I found them boring for someone with such an amazing body.

Barbara and Lais are my favorites this year. They got good shots although I expected something much better from Lais.
Mia LOL really?...  definitely this girl does not know how to pose; It's a shame because I really liked the atmosphere they used.
In my opinion, Nina looks incredible in this year's photos although I do not think she stands out too much among the other models.
Vita had good shots but her body looks strange on this occasion.

Lais could do SO much better if she would work in her facial expressions, I didn't like her.

Nina was ok.

I loved Vita!

Some random observations:

 

-          I still like Hannah Ferguson’s shoot this year, but both her shoot and her body were better last year and it’s a shame they wasted such a great Hannah shoot and not give her the cover then.

-          Bojana looks fantastic and might be my favorite shoot this year (specifically the Finland one).

-          Lais is terrific and a natural fit for the issue.

-          Samantha Hoopes: what is the point?

-          Chrissy Teigen: :|

-          Vita has a great body but I did not like the stylistic choices made for her shoot, even if I understand they were giving homage to classic issues.

-          Kate: why do they need to repeat themselves? It’s a boring choice. But I guess they had to give her the cover to get her to return?

Barbara Palvin for Swimsuit Edition MVP! She looked awesome! Loved the booty! 

I think the arctic shoot was Bojana’s best shot at getting the cover. The environment showcased Bojana in a different light. I don’t think that she has much of a chance to land the cover with a beach shoot because the competition is so tough in that area. I see Barbara and Vita as future cover models although Vita with the caveat that they can get the perfect shot where her body’s awkwardness is disguised.

 

Barbara’s set is cover model worthy. However, I’m not disappointed that Barbara didn’t get the cover. To me, this is her calling card to getting the cover next year. I think she got in the magazine and won Rookie of the Year mainly because of her potential and her name but now she has delivered on that promise. I can only be happy about her shoot, I have no complaints even though she isn’t on the cover. Her shoot is that good. I think this has showed the naysayers why she is at the top and deserving of her status as a SI model. If she gets the cover at one point, this shoot is proof that she isn’t handed things just because she is Barbara Palvin.

 

I can envision a duo cover of Bojana and Hailey, two smoking hot models and a freezing background. A brunette and a blonde plus raw sexuality. But I don’t think that Hailey is the type of a cover model to be on the cover twice in a row. I think things worked out for Hailey the way they were supposed to because if she hadn’t been on the cover last year, I still don’t think that she would have been chosen over Kate this year.

 

I find it a bit odd that Bojana and Hailey had two shoots but maybe the SI team wasn’t confident about how that arctic shoot would translate so they wanted to give Bojana and Hailey a fair shot at getting amazing pictures at a beach location. (And fair shots at getting the cover especially if the shoots were booked before SI knew that Kate was coming back.)

 

I wanted Kate to get the cover three times for her legacy. Kate is their newest superstar and something like that happens very rarely even for SI. I think SI missed out when they didn’t recognize that by putting Kate on the cover three times in a row ala Elle MacPherson. So, this fixes it in a way i.e. Kate’s return is such a big deal for SI, a cause for celebration that she gets the cover with three versions! And that is right, I think that years from now Kate will be remembered and associated with SI like Elle MacPherson, Christie Brinkley, Kathy Ireland etc. are now.

 

Hannah Ferguson has a chance to get the cover in the future if she can get back to a softer look and gets that lucky break of having a combination of a great location, weather, photographer, styling etc. I think Rose Bertam is in danger of becoming the next Jessica Gomes i.e. back year after year but never lands the cover. Fortunately, Rose is modelling for L’Oréal so I think that her route to getting the cover could be by increasing her popularity outside of SI.

Is it too early to talk about SI 2018?

Cover/Kate Upton - I like Kate so yay that she's back, and I'm fine with her getting three different covers, IMO it's way waaay better than the Christie + Serena rumor we heard. And she looks stunning, the one where she holds the jacket may be her best cover ever tbh. You do have to wonder how utterly shitty her career is these days that she agreed to come back to SI. I'm still glad she's back tho, she has always been SI gold and she looks way better modelling than "acting". Not her best year but also not her worst, she has some very good pictures but also some very meh.

Hannah F - Yu Tsai needs to be stopped, this is Hannah's worst year. I like maybe five pictures, the rest are trash.
Bianca - Brings so much class to the magazine, and she's just a good model, she knows what works for her and her posing is just so good. However the boobs are too weird
Bo - NOPE. I won't go into bashing territory, y'all know how much I dislike her. Great body but still cannot be saved.
Lais - She is love, she is life, she belongs in SI and it will be 100% bullshit if she doesn't win ROTY. I love every single picture and she has the best body I've ever seen. #Lais2018
Samantha - NOPE NOPE NOPE. Again, I won't go to bashing territory. Just yikes
Kelly - Lovely woman, lovely body. She has some really good pictures but some others are odd, probably because I'm not a huge fan of they styled her. Still, lovely shoot and she didn't let me down.
Myla - I actually like her, a lot, she's just so fresh and has a good body (except for the way too saggy boobs but that's gravity yo). I hope she comes back, I like her face a lot and her smile is beautiful. I approve
Rose - I love it, probably my favorite year of her, so happy she was taken away from Yu Tsai! I adore everything about her shoot. She's probably one of my favorite women this year
Ashley - NOPE NOPE NOPE. Will not say anything else
Mia - She will forever be ranked as one of the worst SI models for me. Right up there with Kenza
Barbara - The real MVP! Every picture is beautiful, her body never looked better and this shoot is just perfect. There's so many pictures that I love. And honestly her face is perfection, it all works out just perfectly in this shoot. 
Chrissy - I love her personality and body but her face is still very hit or miss with me. She did however get some of the ugliest swimsuits I've seen which doesn't help much
Vita - My second favorite roookie, I like her a lot but why so many pictures with the braids? The ones with her hair down are flawless tho. And her smile is just beautiful. She gives me 70's vibes and that's a good thing
Hailey - I love her Finland shoot, the beach shoot is good but a bit boring because she's been doing the same locations since her first year so her Finland pictures are better IMO. I do think her body looked better last year tho, but she's still great
Nina - I love her so she can't do wrong in my eyes. She has a perfect body, I love her smile and the vibes she gives. However, i strongly hate how she was styled for the most part and goddaamn it she better get a different photographer next year. I dislike Ruven almost as much as I dislike Yu, he just doesn't do her justice. She does have some pictures that I love, but this is for sure not my favorite year of hers.

McKenna - I LOVE her, i adore her but the makeup did nothing for her. Still happy she's in this tho, I adore her.
Anne - New girl crush. She's flawless and I like every single picture. My bodypaint MVP
Lisa Marie - NOPE.
Hunter - NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE. I repeat: NOPE. Endless yikes
