mbinebri Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 ^ It's a good thing you posted your votes so we can see that you were right! I mean, otherwise, you would be able to show up after the fact with a snotty comment to claim you got it all right! And it's somewhat difficult to get your picks correct when you're basing them off a nominee list that's incorrect! Damn you, Qball! :persuazn: Quote
Layla90 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I have a problem because every year the ceremony would be broadcasted by public television channel TVP1 (Polish Television 1). This year, however, the only company who has the rights to live broadcast is a paid commercial channel Canal+ (transmitted via sattelite). Now, the only way I can watch the show is the Internet. I have downloaded 3 programs that enable streaming broadcast (SopCast, TVU-Channel and CoolStreaming). Live broadcast will be available on ABC and Sky Movies, I hope I'll be able to connect to either of those. I have no guarantee, though Anybody with the same problem? Quote

Layla90 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I think that Mickey, Kate and "The Reader" will get Oscars. Quote
Expresso Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Everyone is allover Slumdog Millionaire to grab the oscars, but I hope it doesn't. It was a nice movie, a good way to spend a couple of hours, but no masterpiece. I enjoyed "The curious case of Benjamin Button" much more and not just because I like Brad Pitt as an actor. I haven't seen Wrestler and they say Mickey Rourke gave the performance of his life, so it's prolly going to be a toss up between the two of them. As for supporting actor, I used to be against those post mortem oscars (I mean, what use are they if you're dead?) but Heath Ledger did give a performance of a lifetime and he does deserve to be remembered by that. As for the females, I'm going for Kate. Angelina already has an oscar and Kate has been nominated 6 times, but always missed it. So I hope she grabs it this time. On the other hand, I'd like to see the look on Jennifer Aniston's face if it turns out she has read Angelina's name as the oscar winner. Hehe. What? I never told you I was nice...... Quote
Michael* Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I'd vote for Mickey Rourke as the best actor, but I think Sean Penn has a great chance too. For best actress, I think it's between Kate and Meryl. Â Seems strange that Slumdog Millionaire is up for best movie and Danny Boyle up for best director, yet none of the cast members are nominated. Qball Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Damn, does anybody know where I can watch the ceremony on the Internet? Sites like ABC.com are out of the question since people in Europe cannot watch it. Quote

mbinebri Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I'd voted for Rourke, Winslet, and Benjamin Button, but now that Slumdog has won adapted screenplay and especially best cinematography (beating BB and The Reader in both categories), it's almost certainly going to win Best Picture now. MattLoveModels Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 you were right about that I guess there was nothing better than Slumdog this year. I havent seen all of the nominated films so i cant really say. Quote
Laffy Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I know that this isn't the point of this thread, but god bless Hugh Jackman and his amazing bone structure, 5 o'clock shadow and charm. He is such a babe, oh my gosh! Anyway, I thought the show was very good and dynamic this year. (Y) I still don't like these sort of events, but I thought it was entertaining. The dresses were very bad, but that's another thread. And everyone knew that Slumdog was gonna win I absolutely love Kate Winslet Penelope sounded absolutely beautiful & I'm happy for her too! Quote
penny-dreaddfull Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 ^^^^ i agree 100% with u laffy i havent watched an oscars show since 2000 and im sure glad i didnt miss this one it had me laffing and crying.. sometimes simultaneously Quote
Expresso Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I thought Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz totally deserved their Oscars. Kate because she was already nominated 6 times, but never got it and Cruz because she proves she's not just a pretty girl. As for the men, it totally surprised me that Penn won. He was obviously the best, but I didn't think he was popular enough. I liked it as well that he chose the speach to get people thinking about marriage between gay people. In a country as free as America, they should have the same rights as anyone else. I agree with him completely. Slumdog millionaire won everything else ofcourse. I'm not surprised. These times aren't the most fun ones and I guess people need feelgood movies like that one to brighten their day. The kid with the autograph book was adorable though. And Heath Ledger. Well, I'm glad he won. Even though he isn't there to see it, atleast he'll be forever remembered as the great talent he was. Quote
midnight lady Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm glad about kate winslet and heath also slumdog millionaire I haven't watched the show because it was pretty late and I had a test-what a shame but still I got the review on internet Quote
