What were your favourite gigs you saw this year? 01. REGINA SPEKTOR Love Regina, and I was so bummed last year when she came to Australia without doing the west coast. She did the full lap of the country this time round, and she didn't disappoint. Just an exquisite performer and a lovely person all round 02. LAURA MARLING Same as Regina - this year was her first time in my part of the country, and I'd been waiting a long time to see her. By far my favourite gig I've seen at the shitty venue she played in Awesome support from Boy & Bear too! 03. MASSIVE ATTACK Epic. Wicked sound, and a stage/light show I'll remember for a long time. 04. WASHINGTON I totally …

A study of more than 36,000 people from around the world concluded that musical tastes and personality type were closely related. The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh in the UK suggested classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal fans were gentle and at ease with themselves. Fans of Indie music had low self-esteem and were not hard working, fans of Rap music had high self-esteem and were outgoing. Country & Western fans were hardworking and outgoing, Reggae fans were creative but not hardworking, and fans of chart pop had high self-esteem, were not creative, but where hardworking and outgoing. I recently started listening to Megadeth fairly heavily. Now, quite a long time ago I had gotten the album Youthanasia from the local library, and I really liked it. After that I always found some reason to keep putting off buying an album. Finally, this Christmas I used one of my gift cards to buy Rust In Peace. I was deeply impressed. I was expecting an album with a few good tracks, and a lot of filler. But it's really solid all the way through; sure, some tracks aren't as good as "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" or "Hangar 18," but songs like "Poison Was The Cure" and "Lucretia," that aren't nearly as well known, are brilliant. Literally my only complaint with the alb…

http://www.myspace.com/geminipl The band was formed after the summer of 2009 by the master Felipe. The idea behind it was to gather a group of creative musicians from different bands that could constitute an ensemble playing music that is sophisticated, ambitious and yet accessible. Musically, gemiNi draws from many genres, mainly alternative and progressive rock, pop-rock and trip-hop. The songs were recorded at a recent rehearsal. Enjoy. And comment.

So, this is what you do: shuffle your songs on your mp3 player of choice, then post the first 5 songs that come up (no cheating!). There's no prize, but it could be interesting anyway. I'll go first -- 1. Usher feat. Alicia Keys - My Boo 2. Joseph Williams & Sally Dworsky - Can You Feel the Love Tonight (yes, from The Lion King soundtrack) 3. Lenny Kravitz - If I Could Fall in Love 4. Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes - Don't Cha 5. Pras Michel feat. ODB & Mya - Ghetto Superstar
