Different forms of art always influence each other in some way and there's quite a special relation between music and literature. Be it by musicalizing a specific work, such as a piece of poetry, or by taking inspiration by a novel or tale. Examples are many, both in Classical Music and in Popular Music. I think there's something really captivating about cover songs. They're often atrocious, but sometimes wonderful, and more often than not give you a different perspective of a song when an artist can inject their own style and personality into it. So basically what I'd like to do is gather a bunch of nominations, then give everyone the chance to vote on how much they like or dislike them. I'm thinking that it will go something like this: - One song (two versions) per round - Both versions of the song will be provided via YouTube to give those unfamiliar with the songs a chance to rate them - You give an objective rating of the original song out of 10, on its own merit…

When it comes to albums that are generally regarded as classics, I always just sort of assume that they'll somehow find me eventually, perhaps via an online article, a review, maybe a chance discovery. Sometimes it's a case of wondering what all the fuss is about, but every so often something will come along that blows me away. So, how about it? This thread is for guitar solos . Though technical performing skills (singing, instrument playing) in general don't seem to be as important to today's mainstream music industry ..., I love the way a good guitar solo pours out the heart, soul and guts of a song. As I stated before, I love all of the obvious classic solos and anything by Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass and Jimi Hendrix. I love guitar solos from all genres, whether it is classical, blues, jazz, country, acoustic, rock, flamenco,"latin"...I encourage you to share your favorites, there are no right or wrong answers.
