Equivalent to the Guitar Masters thread but this time with singers. Those whose voices amaze you. Be it for their incredible range, on point technique, or maybe because of a beautiful timbre or sheer expressiveness. I'll start with probably the most obvious choice: Freddie Mercury This is amazing: isolated vocals track of The Show Must Go On Incredible and so powerful performance, even more considering he was practically dying by then...

Not so many know this song, or at least thats what i think . . Take a look (Y) I've counted every single raisin in my cereal bowl, and every dented in the ceiling How many half slices of toast will make how many whole, and how do I escape this feeling ? Some say that I can be just as hard as a rock, but I can be oh so much bolder. I look you in the eye and I'll take you by surprise, and I'll eat this chip off my shoulder I'm so bored I could cry. I'm so happy I could die. Do I really want to learn to fly... Feel like an android livin' in the polaroid just another reject that gets a little seasick. Whose life am I in ? Feels like dejavu don't know how or what …

I love some old 50's Rock n' Roll and Rockabilly. What do you think of these genres? Your favorite artists? And as the poll says: Who's the real King of Rock n' Roll for you? For me it's Chuck Berry. The one who really gave Rock n' Roll it's true form and made the guitar it's main instrument. He was one of the first showmen in the genre too, AND he wrote his own songs. I love Elvis and all, but the true King for me is Chuck Berry. If not, it could be Little Richard. Let's start with some music of course Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode As a genre it takes most of it's sound from the Blues, the urban and electrified Blues from places like Chicago and…

Seen a few complaints in another thread that rock has died in the new millenium, but I find this is totally untrue and this thread means to prove it. Maybe some have this theory in mind, because rock is different than it used to be, not such mainstream huge bands to hit the charts, but it is definitely there. Spread into different subgenres of course, but it has been like that before. I still see important bands continuing to put out great records as well as there are plenty new bands of course to rock the scenes. First example of a pretty new band with a recent song: http://www.mtv.de/videos/24230871-rival-so...ssure-time.html but see for yourself.

RBD is a Mexican musical Pop group that gained popularity from Televisa's teenage-oriented telenovela Rebelde. To date, RBD has achieved commercial success with cross-over appeal in non-Spanish speaking countries, most notably in Brazil. RBD has sold over 9.5 million albums worldwide. RBD debuted in December 2004 with the album Rebelde, released by EMI. The main writers for the project were DJ Kafka and Max di Carlo, and their songs proved nearly as popular as the show. The first three singles ("Rebelde", "Solo quédate en silencio" and "Sálvame") were all number one hits in Mexico, with the fourth single, "Un póco de tu amor" reaching number two. A Portuguese language ed…

From Wikipedia Britpop is a subgenre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom. Britpop emerged from the British independent music scene of the early 1990s and was characterised by bands influenced by British guitar pop music of the 1960s and 1970s. The movement developed as a reaction against various musical and cultural trends in the late 1980s and early 1990s, particularly the grunge phenomenon from the United States. In the wake of the musical invasion into the United Kingdom of American grunge bands (in particular Nirvana), new British groups such as Suede and Blur launched the movement by positioning themselves as opposing musical forces, referencing…

Sometimes all you need to do to make yourself feel better after a hard day's work is to wind down with a hot cup of java, a crossword, and have a sexy female jazz singer giving you aural. Yes, aural... as in ear f***ing. Also, I'm gonna have to be an elitist in this thread because well... It would be an insult to some of the singers posted in this thread to compare them to the likes of let's say Beyonce, Ashlee Simpson, or Jojo. No rockers, poppers, hip-hoppers, and such allowed unless they are crossover artists. Only singers who could pass a grade 2 theory exam, a grade 6 vocal exam, and can sight read are allowed in this thread. Bonus points if they can sing in Portugue…

Queen are a British rock band that formed in 1970. The band originally consisted of lead vocalist Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, bassist John Deacon, and drummer Roger Taylor. Queen have been described as giving the greatest live performance ever, producing the greatest single in history, and being the best British band of all time. They have released 15 studio albums, five live albums and numerous compilation albums. In 2009, the band's record label EMI reported their worldwide album sales as over 300 million, as did the BBC and other independent sources. Queen enjoyed success in the UK during the early 1970s but it was the release of Sheer Heart Attack (1974) an…

Let's talk jazz here... I hope some of you are into this snobbish type of music... Hell no, jazz is not snobbish! Not entirely, at least. I myself am a jazz newbie, I started listening to it a little more than a year ago... My main playground is fusion jazz, the movement which emerged in the late 60s-early 70s and was started by artists like Miles Davis and John McLaughlin. My favourite artists are Miles Davis A.D. 1969-70, the already mentioned John McLaughlin and his Mahavishnu Orchestra, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock and Weather Report. Fusion is a very interesting branch of modern jazz, because it combines stricte-jazz elements with funk, soul, rock, African and world …

What are your favorite Disney Songs ? Please say who you voted for, give general favs ect. Also, as so why such and such may be missing I do acknowledge that there are of course many great songs but I don't like to overload poll choices (for the sake of competitiveness). Songs are also chosen and ordered by estimated familiarity with our BZ demographic. Enjoy ! Note: More Songs will be added for Part 2... *Edit* Changed to General Discussion .
