December 27, 20159 yr evidence for the model search: on instagram, MJ has only captioned four rookies, even though several more new girls have been identified several of the assumed "model search" models were photographed at the same location there was a model search in 2011 evidence against the model search: there has been no mention of a model search on Swim Daily, or on any of the SI staff's social media the girls identified at the assumed "model search" location have also had SI casting calls, just like all other rookies (except babs, not yet at least) there was a model search in 2011, but not 2012, 2013, 2014, or 2015 a secret "model search" effort is entirely redundant with the casting calls in the years that the social media platforms have been used, MJ and staff have never teased pictures of models who don't ultimately appear in the issue currently the number of rookies is around 8-10, generally in line with the 12 rookies in 2014 and 7 rookies in 2015. a "model search" reduces the potential number of rookies it would seem strange to have both rookie of the year voting AND model search voting. in 2011, the year of the previous model search, ROTY was not available for voting and kate upton was simply "named" ROTY there may be more points for both sides. that's just what I could think of.

A lot of her internet popularity is in international markets (Lebanon, Australia) rather than in the United States, SI's largest market. Chrissy Teigen - 4.4 million IG followers and LOADS of mentions on SD (4,790, the most of any model). She's shared the cover before and would have lots to discuss in a publicity tour (famous husband, new baby, etc). Emily Ratajkowski - Nearly identical stats to Chrissy: 4.3 million IG followers, 4,200 mentions on SD. However, no preview pics have appeared for 2016 and she may be done with SI-type photoshoots. Next grouping: Hannah Davis, Irina Shayk, Lily Aldridge, Nina Agdal - Each of these girls has been on an SI Swimsuit cover, which, along with famous husbands or boyfriends, is a large part of their current popularity. All except Hannah have at least one million IG followers and 3,000+ mentions on SD. The rest: From Erin Heatherton, Kate Bock, and Genevieve Morton on down to Solveig, Ariel Meredith, and Ashley Smith, there's a pretty large group of girls who simply have not gained much traction. The SI cover is not necessarily a popularity contest, but if it was, the smart money would be on Gigi and Chrissy.

But tbh I don't give a fuck about it as long as it not photographed by Yu, he is such a mess o.o, I'm still upset Hannah got stuck with him this year, she was so good with Ben Watts Chrissy is pregnant atm and by the time the magazine comes out she'll be either like 9 months or will have given birth just around that time which means she ain't doing promo for 2016 so I doubt SI would give the cover to someone who will not even be able to attend launch events unless they do them all wherever Chrissy lives.
