June 25, 201311 yr Lisalla is such a cutie pie I won't jinx her by saying anything. I think Irina and Petra won't make the top ten over Christie, Cheryl and Paulina because they are classics. Christie also had 3 covers in a row (79-81) so she is top ten for sure. Cheryl had 3 covers (70,75,83). Laetitia at 46, are you sérieux? I think Kate will be at number 2 behind Elle.

But these types of lists are always guilty of "recentism," so I'm fully prepared to see Upton at #1 simply because she's what's hot right now.

I'm not saying Kate will, or even should be number 1 however to discount her and say that some of the older models deserve the spot more simply because they were in the magazine 10-30 years ago and are "superstars" in an era that catered to models isn't really saying much. The sad reality, is in this day and age most people walking down the street will if asked be able to name current models. Unless they've been following this for years and had a page or two taped to the bathroom wall as masturbatory material when they were 16 they probably wont remember girls like Kathy, or Stephanie, or Cheryl, or Christie. It's nothing against them, but modern society is so focused on the now that they're losing sight of the then.

Multiple issues/covers aside, being a quote on quote super in the 80's or 90's doesn't make you any more relevant or popular then someone who's been in the magazine in the last decade. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against some of the oldies, but popularity and sales numbers will probably be factoring into this list.By your logic Stephanie Seymour, or Laetitia Casta who were both featured in VS at the beginning are clearly better, then lets say Adriana or Candice. They're supers right? Clearly trumps the 21st century girls.
