Yeah the blonde was pretty cool indeed. But her character was not so attractive lol But what re-boot ? My fave was the Last Crusade as well, and with time i really enjoy Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom ... The last one is not so bad as well. But It reminds me a lot of Tintin, like a mix of 'Prisoners of the Sun' and 'Flight 714 to Sydney'. Quote

elfstone Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Interesting perspective https://theintercept.com/2017/04/12/how-to-jam-the-trump-brand/ Quote If there is one lesson that emerges from all these controversies it is this: Institutions organized around a powerful brand image – often understood as “a promise” from a corporation to its customers – are in big trouble when that image gets battered and the promise appears to have been broken. These facts make corporate brands intensely vulnerable to public pressure, particularly when that pressure is loud and organized. All of this has long been understood by brand managers and consumer activists, but it now has implications that reach far beyond the fate of PepsiCo’s share price or United’s crisis management team. That’s because, for the first time in history, the president of the United States is a fully commercialized Superbrand, with family members who are best understood as spin-off brands. From an ethics perspective, this is as swampy as it gets, since the Trump dynasty is already profiting significantly from the presidency, whether from the free publicity it is getting for properties that have been transformed into White House satellites, or simply because the Trump brand name is repeated in the global press about a zillion times a day. More worrying are the many opportunities for backdoor lobbying and influence peddling — what better way to curry favour with the First Family than by selecting one of its properties for a lavish event, or by paying an inflated price to lease the Trump name for a new development? toodarnhot Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 The Elle twitter header for their May issue looks like an ANTM title sequence. The direction of these shoots was not cohesive at all, and they look terrible jumbled together like this. Quote
elfstone Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Quote The standard Western media narrative is to accuse The Lady, as she is known by her admirers, of silence and of a grotesque failure to speak out against these human rights abuses. In an editorial last May, the New York Times denounced Suu Kyi’s “cowardly stance on the Rohingya.” Yet hers is not merely a crime of omission, a refusal to denounce or condemn. Hers are much worse crimes of commission. She took a deliberate decision to try and discredit the Rohingya victims of rape. She went out of her way to accuse human rights groups and foreign journalists of exaggerations and fabrications. She demanded that the U.S. government stop using the name “Rohingya” — thereby perpetuating the pernicious myth that the Muslims of Rakhine are “Bengali” interlopers (rather than a Burmese community with a centuries-long presence inside Myanmar.) She also appointed a former army general to investigate the recent attacks on the Rohingya and he produced a report in January that, not surprisingly, whitewashed the well-documented crimes of his former colleagues in the Burmese military. Silence, therefore, is the least of her sins. Silence also suggests a studied neutrality. Yet there is nothing neutral about Aung San Suu Kyi’s stance. She has picked her side and it is the side of Buddhist nationalism and crude Islamophobia. In 2013, after an interview with the BBC’s Mishal Husain, Aung San Suu Kyi complained, “No one told me I was going to be interviewed by a Muslim.” In 2015, ahead of historic parliamentary elections, the NLD leader purged her party of all Muslim candidates, resulting in the country’s first legislature without any Muslim representation whatsoever. Like a Burmese Steve Bannon, she paranoiacally speaks of “global Muslim power” being “very great” — only 4 percent of the Burmese population, incidentally, is Muslim — while conspiratorially dismissing reports of Buddhist-orchestrated massacres in Rakhine as “Muslims killing Muslims.” https://theintercept.com/2017/04/13/burmese-nobel-prize-winner-aung-san-suu-kyi-has-turned-into-an-apologist-for-genocide-against-muslims/ Quote
PrettyDeadThings Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 ISIS hammered as US drops biggest non-nuclear weapon ever: 21,000lb bomb is used in anger for the first time to obliterate jihadists' caves in Afghanistan U.S. dropped its largest non-nuclear weapon after targeting ISIS in Afghanistan The GBU-43 bomb weighs 21,600 pounds, is 30 feet long, contains 11 tons of explosives and carries a mile-wide blast radius It can create a blast crater more than 300 meters wide after being dropped from a Hercules MC-130 cargo plane Trump pledged in 2015 that if he became president he would 'bomb the s**t out of ' ISIS On Thursday he called the bombing 'another successful job' and said he had delegated strike authority to his military commanders Pentagon denies that it was revenge for the death on Saturday of a Green Beret soldier in the same region of Pakistan Key stats: Known as the 'Mother Of All Bombs' The U.S. military's largest non-nuclear weapon Each bomb costs around $16 million (£12.8 million) Its explosion is equivalent to 11 tons of TNT and the blast radius is a mile wide First tested by US forces in 2003 It is designed to destroy heavily reinforced targets or to shatter ground forces and armour across a large area 30 feet (9 meters) long and 40 inches (1 meter) wide Weighs 21,000lbs (9,500kg) – heavier than the Hiroshima nuclear bomb Leaves no lasting radiation effect How it's deployed: The bomb has ‘grid’ fins that fold into the body and then open up in flight to help control its descent It can only be deployed out of the back of a large cargo plane due to its size The bomb rides on a pallet, a parachute pulls the pallet and bomb out of the plane The pallet then separates so that the bomb can fall to its target It accelerates rapidly to its terminal velocity and is partially guided to its target via satellite It explodes six feet (1.8 meters) above the ground The idea behind this 'airburst' mechanism is to spread its destructive range Quote
Cult Icon Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 ^^ Impressive but highlights the traditional weakness of the USA- the state can spend billions of taxpayer dollars on firepower, most of which accumulates in warehouses, hits nothing or over kills targets.. but is greatly limited in its ability to procure personnel. Alison doody's character was that of a typical predatory woman lol, but instead of bank accounts she went after treasure and glory.. The one with old Indy and Cate Blanchett- I heard it was terrible so I didn't watch it. All the original 3 were great. I remember enjoying the young Indy TV show as a kid, especially the WW1 episodes Quote
