Well done Wales. A poor manager and too many injuries/suspensions to our defense undid us. But entirely deserved for the Welshmen, even though I now think that with their two suspensions (one to Ramsey), Portugal are now heavy favorites to make the final. Perhaps they will even manage to win a game in 90 minutes before they get there!

I think Kyle Walker had a good game off the ball (apart from being somewhat at fault for one of the goals). He cleaned up a lot of the technical errors through sheer effort. I cannot count the amount of times he had to sprint to save a bad pass from turning into a transition for the Icelandic players.

Croatia is by far the best team in our half of the draw. Unless they have a huge off-day, they should be a shoe-in for the final. Other side of the draw is harder to predict. France still hasn't convinced me, but they have the easiest path to the semi-final on that side of the draw. I think it might come down to fitness and how many/the nature of each team's suspensions, but I think Germany-France will be the semi-final on that side of the draw, with the Germans winning a close contest. Croatia to beat Germany in the final to become another surprise (though not quite) Euro winner.

I hope you are right, but I'm not convinced. We were set up very badly again. We hardly pressed, especially in the second half. We still don't have any recognizable patterns in our attacking play.

So how about all those pre-tournament "Belgium are shadow-favorites" stories, eh? How we only manage about 20 minutes of good football in three games combined, with the players at our disposal, is beyond me. Even a Swedish team which had managed no shots on target in the two games prior to facing us looked half-decent when facing Belgium. I hope we have enough to get past Hungary (which will already be a tall order). But then it'll be Wales and Bale, and we already failed to beat them in qualifying (worse still, we failed to score a single goal on them over the length of two games).

Belgium still has work to do. First to get at least a point against Sweden tonight, then to beat (likely) Portugal. But if we do that, we should get to the semi-final. Where we will likely lose against Croatia.

Happy with the result, but the football before half-time was still quite poor. We countered well on two occasions and had a nicely built-up goal for the 2-0. Still, I would like to see this team put together something close to a proper, 90-minute performance. At the same time, I can appreciate how difficult it can be to break down a team that plays in two banks of four for most of the game, like the Irish did.

Does anyone know the origin of that scar on her right arm?

Hmmm. Two of those stars were earned under fascist regimes. The third was in a tournament where they started really poorly but somehow put it together for a handful of games (and deprived perhaps the most fun Brazil team ever their WC title).

A very fishy stat: ancient Italy (the team they fielded was the oldest so far at the Euros) also was the team that covered most ground collectively. Hmmm.

No one here believes we will win the cup, at least not in terms of it being a significant amount of people. In fact, there are far more supporters who fear a very poor first round. Me, I think we will reach the quarter-finals and then be eliminated.
