^ I doubt VS will even try to push Gigi anymore, they wanted her for one reason only: popularity. And based on the very poor performance the VSFS had in ratings it's pretty obvious she and Kendull failed to deliver, Americans didn't give a single fuck about either of those women and didn't tune in for the show. IMO it shows social media following is overrated once again, in 2012 they had Bieber performing expecting his fans would tune in, results? Ratings were lower than the year before. They did it again this year with Gigi and Kendull and it's pretty obvious it didn't work at all, and dare I say they may have actually turned off some people? 

 

Jac missing the Swim special worries me a bit because I do love her for VS but she was shooting in Paris and she did have Chanel before VS and they're probably paying her more so In her case I can see (and hope) her absence is just a matter of bad timing. Kate was a given, she's done with VS and I honestly couldn't care less, she's stunning but nobody will miss her as nobody ever even saw her. I was 100% expecting Rachel to show up tho, surprised she ain't there. And I happen to like both Jojo and Vita a lot but I do hope they don't get signed, VS has way too many girls already and while I think they both are great in catalog I just don't see what would be refreshing/new about either of them? If anything I say VS needs to drop girls and go back to having just 6-8 Angels, keep Candice, Behati, Elsa, Lais, Sara, Taylor, Jac and Jasmine.

 

@Marciotmello I think what Siemgi means is that VS was using Lais constantly because they need a black girl, they knew Chanel was going to be dropped in 2011 and they started grooming Lais to be the token WOC, because when VS didn't have a black girl in the lineup people started bitching about it, now they always make sure to have at least one WOC. They obviously had more options besides Lais but they went with her and I'm glad they did because I think she's amazing for the brand, but the fact is, the main reason why she was working so much in 2011-2012 is because they needed her to represent WOC, atm they didn't have any other WOC in their catalogs as regularly as Lais so they went with her. Jasmine arrived because she's a WOC and American which is gold for VS and also because Lais couldn't be sent to do PR due to her poor English. I do agree with you that VS has too many blondes and they could use some diversity but oh well, the problem is not just with VS but with the whole industry tbh, but with VS it's always been like this, when Tyra left they replaced her with Selita, they dropped Selita and then people got angry for the lack of diversity so they contracted Chanel who flopped and was instantly replaced by Lais. Again, I do think it's lovely they didn't drop Lais in favor of Jasmine, it's been refreshing to have them both there.

I don't think we can use something they did once for the first time as an indication for anything. 

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they did sign Jo but that's based on her work, not her inclusion in the swim special, but I really don't see them adding Vita to the line up yet. Like someone said, she doesn't add anything. She's another blonde in a sea of blondes, and she doesn't have any social media clout or anything else that really makes her stand out.

Vita is Ed's latest blonde crush since September and it shows in how often they have used her for work since then and the show and featuring her on the live pre-show. If that takes her as far as an angel contract who knows but ever since she dropped more weight and got her abs more prominent he has been praising her like crazy.

And I also think Lais is more curvy, so lets admit, VS costumers arent all size 0 so she def does attract to people that dont have a skinny body like the rest

I think It could go either way: they could introduce Jo and Vita as angels in 2016 or they could just keep doing what they're doing.

Btw, anyone knows If Vita also shot a commercial(s) like Josephine? 

 

I've also noticed that Vita's pictures on VS Instagram account get crazy amount of likes, even more than Candice, Taylor or Sara who usually get a lot. It's really rare when a picture on VS account gets 400k+ likes and all Vita's pictures do so maybe they're pushing her in part because of that? Some examples:

If Lindsay didn't work, there's no way Vita will. It sucks that Ed's hard-on for generic skinny blondes gets girls so far nowadays. I wish the selection process was more thought out rather than Ed's flavor of the season.

I find Vita more attractive than the majority vs blond angels. VS needs to cut their angel list to 7 or 8 angels pushing to 10 the most.

The thing is, girls like Lindsay or Vita may not work as press draws but they probably sell very well. VS needs to have some of those in the mix.

The majority of the VS current roster aren't press draws and that's why Gigi and Kendall was brought in for their popularity for but some of them do sell well.

Clearly it didn't pay off, see the ratings of this year's show. No one gave a single fuck about watching either of those women so if popularity is the only reason they got a spot in the show then they will be just one hit fails wonders, they had one job: bring people in, and they failed at it hard.

^ Yeah Clauds is right on that they took a chance on the celebrity model girls going on Kendall and Gigi and realized it didn't draw in extra viewers, they need to realize the people who would watch to see Kendall and Gigi are the same people who would watch the VSFS anyways regardless of who is cast, they are not attracting new people with it. The only thing it did was get additional media coverage but it ended up being a little harmful since most media reports of the VSFS focused on Kendall and Gigi and they missed a huge opportunity to get new media coverage on their new angels. Look at how many headlines after the show were "See Kendall & Gigi and the rest of the VS Angels" they literally created a huge enough distraction to change media coverage from their own contracted angels to those two and it failed with the general public.

 

The problem is that from like 1992 onwards, VS has always used its models' fame as a selling point. It went well up until Gisele, then slowly but surely dropped until about 2009 and then shit hit the fan hard.

 

Aside from Candice (who was an instant hit) and maybe Behati (due to having a solid PINK fan base), they all failed. Lily and Lindsay are/were good sellers but never really big draws (despite Lily having both a noted husband and a SI pedigree), Erin and Rosie could have been like Candice but both left quite early on, "high-fashion sensations" Chanel and Karlie failed to connect with VS audiences despite intense promo.

 

The newer crop probably won't fare much better. Elsa has the biggest chance of success due to following Behati's trajectory (i.e. get PINK customers used to her and transition into mainline along with them), Lais, Martha, Sara, Jasmine, Stella & Jac had been used on and off for a while so they may be good sellers while Taylor, Romee and Kate came out of nowhere and didn't really strike me as Candice type hits.

 

Clearly right now, Elsa, Sara, Jasmine and Taylor are getting the biggest push along with a rotating blonde I'd say it's Romee these days. I think VS is done with Kate, Lais clearly isn't getting much love either compared to her resume (sometimes it feels like her Angel contract was given to her now to make up for not giving her one earlier if that makes sense), Martha and Stella seem to be somewhat loosing steam compared to same time last year and IDK what is going on with Jac.

While Gigi and Kendal got even more famous , the new angels stayed the same, ofc they got more famous too but Kendall talked more about selfies than almost all of the newest angels... maybe not elsa, jasmine and martha that talked sport.

Taylor is getting pumped out by VS non stop and has had the biggest rise in followers and popularity. So she's actually the one doing the best with VS. She's also really young and can be groomed much like Candice was compared to Elsa who while popular right now is the same age as Candice and Behati and that could affect her longevity with the company. So I think of any of the bunch if we are saying who could be the next Candice I think it's Taylor.

NAH none of them is the next Candice ... but who could get close is Elsa Hosk.

Taylor it is very pumped by VS but have a long way to be like Candice.... i would say the next Behati. Candice always is pretty amazing on her VS photoshoots and have that super sexy vibe since her first days in VS. Taylor is SO pretty but honestly her body doesnt help and her VS photoshoots have been pretty meh. she needs to be more confident and be more sexy or maybe she is just too young... All the super popular VS girls are quite mega sexy Candice , adriana , ale... 

I adore Taylor and yall know I've had a very long love-hate relationship with Candice for nearly eight years since she came out to VS so i'm not biased here at all and lbr Taylor is not even close to Candice.

 

Candice was an instant hit, she had about two seconds of screntime in 2007 yet she stole that fucking show and absolutely everyone was losing their shit about it in the best possible way, she didn't need VS to shove her down our throats for audiences to automatically love her, girlfriend simply nailed it fron day 1, VS did overuse Candice for some time but I think it may have been because they knew their other new girls were not doing as great. Now Taylor has been successful so far but VS has been shoving her down our throats a lot, is not hard to see why she has been the most successful one in terms of social networks when VS is posting so much about her and so little about the others, IDK if she is selling or not and i guess time will tell but I do think Candice's first VS pictures were far far better than what we've seen so far from Taylor  

 

Elsa is a different story, she obviously sells and that's why VS promoted her from Pink to mainline instead of dropping her, I think out of the new Angels she is probably the one with better chances to stay for a longer time and the fact that she looks younger than her age helps her, I doubt VS will give a damn about the age as long as she is selling those bras and panties; i can see her staying three to five more years with the brand unless she decides to leave.
