Underpaid Victoria’s Secret angels fly the coop

 

Victoria’s Secret Angels are flying from their contracts because increasing time commitments and relatively little pay are less than heavenly, sources tell Page Six.

 

Both Karlie Kloss and Dutch stunner Doutzen Kroes have flown the coop, and we hear more notable Angels could follow. Today’s Angels are earning far less than the top VS models of yore such as Gisele Bündchen, Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks, we’re told.

“The money isn’t what it used to be,” a source told Page Six. “Older contracts like Alessandra Ambrosio were in the millions, now they’re like $100,000.” Remaining Angels still include Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge.

Victoria’s Secret confirmed last week that Kloss would end her contract, and sources said it was because she couldn’t devote enough time to the brand when she starts classes at NYU this fall.

 

And Kroes recently said she wouldn’t continue working with the brand after six years. CMO Ed Razek addressed her exit on Instagram: “Doutzen had a lucrative opportunity in Europe and it would have conflicted with her VS obligations. So, at her agency’s request, we released her from contract. There was no conflict. No animosity.” He also had to address Kloss’ exit last week.

 

We hear Ambrosio could be next out the door — but a source told us she’s in the middle of renegotiating her contract with VS.

 

Money per model has shrunk as the company has hired a larger stable of Angels to walk in their splashy shows and make global appearances. “There used to be just four angels,” a source said. “Now there’s about eight.”

 

The ladies also have to commit 50 days a year or more to VS, which prohibits them from participating in bigger, better fashion and fragrance campaigns. The brand is also launching a Swim Special on Thursday on CBS.

 

Former Angel Miranda Kerr ended her contract in 2013, and a source told Page Six then that the time constraint was the issue.

A Victoria’s Secret rep told us, “We do not comment on the details of contracts with models.”

Alessandra is supposedly renegotiating? Girl leave already lol. Adriana and Ale are going nowhere. I'm telling you they'll stay as long as they want because it's a steady paycheck. And VS love keeping them around. I'm sure VS still forks out plenty for them. I doubt their girls would only get 100k. Wow committing to 50 days a year. That's sooooo hard. How about 365 like us regular people and we get paid crap compared.

Damn this line-up is everything. I especially love Jac, Sara, Elsa and Taylor - just add Stella and Jojo and it would be pure gold.

I do not work 365 days a year - most of my weekends are free and I also have some days off and well, the holidays!

 

Some of the models I follow, on the other hand, seem to work non-stop and literally live in planes. It´s individual, of course, just saying.

I'd take that article with a grain of salt. It may be true that there are less money than in the past, plus they work with so many models, so they probably have smaller paychecks for more girls.

But why would Ale renegotiate? She has her own line that apparently is starting to do well, if vs didn't pay enough she would be leaving already.

Also, I doubt it's just 50 days, that’s less than two months, and I'm quite sure there are girls who shoot for more time.

And Maybe Ale's brand is not going that great... but it's like: come on, just leave already....

VS obviously pays Ale and Adriana well for them to stay and why wouldn't she renegotiate she is not likely getting the smaller contracts they are starting to push on new angels. It is minimal commitment to be a big draw for them, with Doutzen gone Candice and Adriana are the only other two girls who are well known to non fashion followers.

 

Elsa will probably be huge if they market her right but they flopped with Lindsay and Karlie. Behati never became as big as they wanted despite the famous relationship and Lily while improving every year with VS has never become that well known name that Ale, Adriana and Candice did. Having big names like Miranda and Doutzen leave it makes sense they try and hold onto what big names they have left while they start developing their new girls like Sara, Jac and Jasmine into bigger names.

That article seems completely absurd. Karlie and Doutzen definitely had contracts that payed more than a million a year each. Adriana and Alessandra get paid millions each year from VS

And people are going to believe that low rent article.

Oh my God! seriously?! Press just needed something to sell, and saying VS doesn't pay well to their models is a way to do it. They're using the fact that Doutzen and Karlie are going as an excuse for that.

 

If VS didn't pay well, I'm sure Jac (one of the "money girls" according to models.com) wouldn't skip fashion weeks, and some campaigns to give priority to VS shoots.

Global Canada will be airing the VS Swim Special live tomorrow night for anyone who doesn't get CBS, though you still should in most parts of Canada. I was looking for an international tune in like they had for the VSFS but I couldn't find one. If anyone finds out more if they could share it that would be great.

Here's a few more videos VS posted. I hate the whole summer romance stuff. Sounds fake but at least we get a sense of the girls personalities a bit. And there are some nice shots of all the girls. So far in all of these previews we've seen something of every girl. Stella is to die for in the summer love video. She sounds great.

And boohoo cry me a river, $100,000 is still quite comfortable considering they also have other contracts and probably don't even work full days when they do work. I work 45 hours a week, 47 weeks per year (minus 11 holidays if they don't fall on week-ends) at least and don't make a third of that. And you know they actually make at least 3 times that much.

It's the typical stuff they say but Lily and Martha were great in those interviews and I thought Stella was stunning. They all look and sound pretty good so far. It's probably gonna end up being cheesy but who cares I'll enjoy it.

The girls look great, but they need to tone down the whole "I was so awkward as a teenager", especially Jac. Come on, girl, you were in a Hermes ad at 13.

Seriously. Most of these girls started working at 14/15.
