- Doctor Strange (2016)
The reviews are starting to roll in and the consensus is mostly positive so far. Praise has been heaped on the effects, in particular one of the centrepiece action sequences, with Cumberbatch's performance drawing comparisons to Robert Downey's first outing as Tony Stark. Not all cared for the Marvel brand of humour or the fact that it was another superhero origin story, but those things struck me as coming with the territory anyway. Looking forward to going.- Doctor Strange (2016)
I've seen big budget movies with worse CGI than that. Seems like quite a clever way of showcasing a character who doesn't have a great deal of recognition outside of some very specific circles. Of course, the ultimate test of Cumberbatch's suitability for the role would have been to see if he could deliver a line like "by the hoary hosts of Hoggoth" while keeping a straight face.- Jessica Clements
Thanks to @Stromboli1 for the topic and to all for the pics. Not only does she possess the most incredible face, I'm pretty certain that her dad is George Lucas. So yeah, she's got quite a lot going for her.- Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 (2017)
- Logan (2017)
So, the full trailer for Jackman's last outing as Wolvie, and presumably Stewart's last as Xavier, is here. In many ways, I consider 'The Wolverine' an underrated film, albeit one that falls apart somewhat near the end. It seemed to suffer at the time from its promotional campaign, which managed to convince people that it was another 'something explodes then the hero says something funny' action film. Not that there's anything wrong with that. This one looks very different from anything the series has delivered up to now, though. It's probably by necessity as Fox doesn't have the rights to most of the characters involved, but the 'Old Man Logan' elements are seemingly being kept to a minimum. To be honest, since I never really cared for a lot of the stuff in the book, I'm not too put out by that.- Logan (2017)

Trailer #2. The emotion building throughout and ending it with the force theme, just great.- Football
Even now, I haven't fully worked out what my feelings are on old Brucey's time as Sunderland manager. For every genuinely outstanding spell we enjoyed under his charge (the likes of which, outside of April and May, we've never seen since), there was an alarming tailspin in which we looked utterly abject, unmotivated and tactically clueless for weeks on end. Still, with the right amount of money to spend, I could see him doing a good job in the Championship. He'll never be an innovator or a serial winner, but when what a club wants is to get promoted, he seems to end up delivering more often than not.- Marvel's Luke Cage
Someone on YouTube decided to re-imagine Luke Cage as a nineties sitcom, and it's actually amazing.- Last movie you saw...
I enjoyed that one, although it wasn't a patch on 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang', my favourite Shane Black film. The best thing I've seen in the last six months or so was probably 'Hell or High Water'. It was fairly derivative of other films at times, but just so engaging from start to finish. Felt like a breath of fresh air to a point, and anything with a soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis always gets my vote.- Supergirl
- Suicide Squad (2016)
An announcement about the extended cut of the movie has arrived in the form of a shiny new trailer. There's not a whole lot to be gleaned from it, but it offers a few new glimpses of Harley and the Joker.- Marvel's The Defenders
- Marvel's Iron Fist
Netflix just kicked off this year's New York Comic-Con with another teaser trailer. I don't expect anything to top Wilson Fisk as the villain, but given the martial arts vibe, I have fairly high hopes for the action sequences.- Marvel's Iron Fist
Another (very) brief teaser has appeared, confirming March 2017 as the release date.- Marvel's Luke Cage
Finished it last night. Another good series, although I still wouldn't quite put it up there with Daredevil or Jessica. We already knew Mike Colter would be excellent as Cage. A lot of fans online have been raving about Cottonmouth, who I did like, but I must admit, I slightly preferred Diamondback's performance. His voice was something else, and he had a real knack for mixing funny with menacing, but never in a way that felt forced. Surprising not to catch any references to Iron Fist though, I was waiting for one the whole time.- Gotham
Dipped into S3 to check whether or not I'd been missing anything good. Much like the first season, which I watched from start to finish, it blows hot and cold. BD Wong and how stupendously evil he makes Hugo Strange has been the best bit for me, I was amazed the other night seeing him somehow manage to turn 'Eve' into a four-syllable word. Good lord though, are they on dodgy ground with some of the Ivy stuff.- Blade Runner 2049
So, it looks like October 6th, 2017 will be the date to mark in our diaries. We also have an official title... - Doctor Strange (2016)
