Last movie you saw...
Arrival I'm still on a bit of a post-cinema high, but this might be my favourite film of the year. Where Interstellar came up a little short after modelling itself on a similar kind of premise, this delivered in spades. There's a real emotional story at its heart, alongside some genuinely tense and exciting moments. I loved it. Villeneuve's previous movie was Sicario, which I liked a lot. His next will be the Blade Runner sequel, which on paper seems like an agonisingly bad idea, but I’m starting to think that if anyone can pull it off, he can.

Supergirl
Smallville was one of those things that always strung you along with promises of getting good soon, but it promised a lot more than it ever delivered. I think in retrospect, it was mainly Michael Rosenbaum's performances as Luthor that elevated an otherwise fairly mediocre show. J'onn just chancing upon the only other surviving Martian at the alien hangout was a bit of an eye-roller, and the reveal seemed a little rushed. I like the dynamic of Mon-El and M'gann dealing with their survivor's guilt in different ways, though. A slow burning arc with Alex and Maggie could be really good, too. Hopefully, if they do take it down the romantic route, the relationship is given time to develop. I'd rather that than it just being a passing thing or a new friendship for Alex, who already has Kara for that.

Supergirl
Not sure how long it's been since Lynda Carter last acted, but the few lines she did have, she really seemed to be chewing out. I suppose as long as she only makes the occasional appearance, there'll be no real harm done.

Thanks @slipman59 As a longstanding Katie McGrath fan, I'm really enjoying Lena Luthor so far. Not sure if you ever watched it, but her relationship with Kara is starting to remind me a lot of Lex and Clark's on Smallville. Loved seeing Dichen turn up as Roulette too, I doubt that we've seen the last of her after being sprung from the nick. I wonder who the friend who helped get her out is going to be?

Westworld
So, I really enjoyed the first episode and will be following the series. The story seems to borrow some of the themes and plot points of both Westworld and Futureworld, presumably with the main focus being on the Corporation running the park and whether or not they have an ulterior motive for what they're doing with the bots. There's also the story of how the bots are becoming self-aware and sentient, which was never explored in the films. The work and production values that have gone into making this is pretty astounding too.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 (2017)
Another update on the mysterious relationship between Fox and Marvel. Fox had owned the rights to Ego and were willing to work out a trade, not for Deadpool himself but for permission to alter the powers of Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Do You Believe?
I believe the primary model for problem solving in politics is to divide, cause conflict and confusion, then take advantage of that confusion. It's a culture of bullying where the blame game never stops, just escalates. So I guess I'd probably consider them bullies more so than liars. Do you believe in yourself?

Football
I'd say if we can rack up six or seven points in our next four games (Hull, Liverpool, Leicester and Swansea), then we'll be right back in the mix, although of course, it's another big if. In a funny way, the decline in the overall quality of the Premier League is probably making it tougher to stay up, as teams you'd hope would finish below you now look more likely to pick up points in games where in the past it would have been unthinkable (Burnley at Man Utd, Boro at City and so on).

Looking at the current Dutch squad, a fit Arjen Robben might be the only player who'd walk into Belgium's first eleven. Hard not to feel for Vincent Kompany after this latest setback. It's looking more and more like persistent injuries are going to cut a great career short.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
A new TV spot appeared the other day, with a number of new scenes including one where a rocket launcher is fired at one of the AT-ATs.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
It was reported ages ago that Michael Keaton was in talks about an undisclosed role, but Feige just revealed that he'll be playing the Vulture, which again feels very fitting for the whole homecoming angle.

As much as he's underwhelmed in just about every department imaginable so far, I will admit to being quite pleased for Moyes after the Bournemouth game. Looking at him these days, it's almost impossible to believe that he was ever handed the top job at the Premier League champions, let alone that it happened as recently as 2013, but I still think there's a half decent manager in there somewhere. As for the players, they've at least shown now that they're capable of winning a game and perhaps needless to say, another three points would be just what the doctor ordered. Beat Hull after the international break and suddenly we're all riding a wave of renewed optimism again. Come up short and really, you'd have to say we're back to square one.- The "What Are You Thinking About Right Now?" PIP

We're only two episodes in on this side of the pond, but once again I've been really impressed by what I've seen so far. It's easily the best superhero stuff on TV at the moment. Tyler Hoechlin's Superman is great fun and comes across as immensely likeable, especially when you compare him to the version Zack Snyder presented in the movies. It's a pity that Calista Flockhart is probably only going to be a recurring character this year because Cat Grant is always a highlight, but I like the addition of Ian Gomez and I'm quite enjoying the new dynamic of Winn working for the DEO. Also, how much fun is it to say 'J'onn J'onzz?'- Wonder Woman (2017)
Another decent trailer, and it didn't give too much away either. At long last, they're learning.- Football
At the moment Ndong just doesn't look ready to play week in and week out, but I'm reluctant to judge him too harshly as he's currently tasked with forming a midfield trio alongside Rodwell and McNair. A fate much worse than anything the courts could dish out, surely! Pienaar at least has some idea of what he's doing, he seems to use the ball quite well although it probably goes without saying that he can't really run any more. If you stuck him in a half decent, settled team he'd look alright. By far the biggest wastes of time have been Anichebe and Love, even now with seven of our regular first teamers missing through injury, neither can get a game. Ordinarily, I'd say it was time to send an SOS to Phil Neville, but it didn't work when we tried it with Steven Naismith so my expectations aren't particularly high.- Logan (2017)
It looks like they're doing the r-rated thing this time, partly I suspect because the Wolverine character is one of the 'darkest' of the X-Men, but mostly because the success of Deadpool earlier this year proved that a comic book film with an r-rating can work, and still rake in the big bucks at the same time. Yeah, the news about Steve was very sad. I remember his style of artwork leaving me rather cold at first, but as I got used to it, I grew to appreciate how well his visuals and Garth Ennis's stories complemented each other. Their collaborations on Preacher, Hellblazer and Punisher will always be among my favourites.- Do You Believe?
I'm a PC person myself, but I bear no ill will towards folks who prefer using Apple Macs. Do you believe in me as I believe in you... tonight?- Logan (2017)
I get the impression that they initially liked the idea of an Old Man Logan adaptation, then realised they wouldn't be able to do much of it without a cease and desist letter from Disney landing on their doormat. So I would expect this to perhaps borrow some of the emotional tones and plot points of Old Man Logan, but probably woven into a narrative closer to Death of Wolverine. Mostly, I'm really fascinated by the grounded, non-superhero vibe.- Logan (2017)
Publicity stills for Logan and Xavier. They really are hammering home the point that this is the end for Jackman as Wolverine, which also means that someone's going to have some rather large shoes to fill in the near future. What I find quite funny is that Patrick Stewart is in his late seventies and doesn't appear to age, so presumably they needed extensive makeup to make him look somewhere in the vicinity of his real age. - I want to change my nickname/username - READ FIRST POST PRIOR TO REQUESTING
