  1. For sure, I think the Batman Begins one was the most believable as a suit that someone with the motivations of Wayne, and of course near-unlimited resources, would actually want to make. I particularly like the popped up collar with the elevated ridge around the neck on this new one though, which I'm guessing is flak-jacket inspired.

That was wild, Cavendish had to sprint at least three times to reposition himself before the final straight. Must be one of his best wins in terms of engineering his way through the bunch.
  3. Agreed, I think that would be the most practical way to do it.
  4. I would give it high marks for being the most functional-looking of the live action suits with little in the way of superfluous "bat stuff" going on. We'll have to see when the film drops whether Pattinson actually looks like that when he's wearing it. In fairness though, I'm not a great lover of the giant bruiser version of Batman anyway. I always found it a bit too contradictory of the stealth concept.

It certainly looks perfectly poised for him but I can't help thinking that Van Aert, the way he's been going, could be a major threat. Who you got?

Had a feeling Alaphilippe would be the front runner for Stage 12 because of the lump before the finish, but I guess with the strong wind it was probably never really on the cards. Well deserved for Politt, though. After a string of good finishes in Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, that had to have been the biggest win of his career.

Amazing ride by Van Aert and of course, props to Vingegaard for briefly making Pogacar look vulnerable. Every stage has provided great drama so far. I don't believe I've ever seen a bleaker or less telegenic mountain than Ventoux. Intimidating in an entirely unique way.
  8. It probably is or was some kind of built-in function of the forum, but I agree that having an extra pronoun or gender option would be prudent and a respectful solution. Leave it with me and I'll see if it's possible to do.

On balance, I think England probably shaded that. Obviously a stroke of luck for the penalty but I can just about see why it was given. I will say, perhaps with a touch of unpatriotic realism, that I'm not sure the Italians will have seen anything to make them worry too much. Let's see though.

On balance, I would say England have more talent in pretty much all positions and start as slight favourites tonight, however, perhaps fearful of underestimating Denmark (as many teams have to this point), I'd expect Southgate to be just as cautious as he was for the Germany game. Assuming this is indeed a nervy and low-scoring affair, I suspect that substitutions will prove decisive, especially against a talented tactician like Hjulmand.

That turned out to be a fantastic game, another in a tournament delivering terrific entertainment at times. Whoever the mysterious guru with the 'tache and glasses is and whatever he has written in his folder, it's been working a treat for Mancini and this Italian side. Another rollercoaster night for poor old Morata. Made Chiellini and Donnarumma look like lampposts for the goal, but how often does his touch seem to abandon him and so quickly as well.

Not that I'd consider Denayer a world beater, it did seem like a surprise to see Vermaelen get the nod ahead of him against Italy. After an admittedly shocking piece of play to put a goal on a plate for Denmark, he seemed to find his footing as the match wore on but never got a look-in afterwards.

You can only beat what's in front of you, as the saying goes, but there wasn't much in front of England last night. Certainly no match for the Fatfield Finisher-Farringdon Massive connection. Pleased Luke Shaw has been singled out for praise after a good performance and a miraculous comeback from Jose Mourinho.

Czech Republic-Denmark was an enjoyable game for an hour before heat, fatigue and injuries inevitably kicked in. The Czechs were game but ultimately didn't have enough in the tank to turn it around. Can't think of a better assist in the tournament so far than the Modric-esque cross for that second goal.

Another obliterating ride by Pogacar to cap off an incident-filled first week at the Tour. Barring something unexpected, I think you'd have to say that the GC is effectively wrapped up, but there are plenty of other interesting sub-plots out there. My favourite is Cavendish.

With a more potent second striker, I think Belgium may well have gotten themselves an equaliser. Shame Hazard was unavailable and that De Bruyne was presumably playing with ligament damage of some sort. World Cup 2022 is only seventeen months away, it should be feasible that most of the current players will be available for one more go there, although I could see three or four of the old guard calling it a day.

Not to say that certain Italian sides of the past wouldn't have done exactly that, but I thought prior to the unfortunate loss of Spinazzola they were still chasing last night's game like they were behind. Obviously though, they pivoted into "game management" mode towards the very end.

A game that slapped, banged and hammered in equal measure, we'll be lucky if we see a better one at this tournament. Italy shaded the win for me, they were relentless throughout and scored two gems. Belgium perhaps needed a fully fit Eden Hazard to counter Italy's industry and professionalism, even so Lukaku could have had two more in the second half. Commiserations to Belgium and @SympathysSilhouette, tough to go out after all that effort.

Spain certainly deserved to go through there, Switzerland will be kicking themselves for holding out and then blowing it with three chronic penalties. The loss of Embolo was unfortunate though, it allowed Spain to put them on the carousel for most of the game.
  20. Oh most definitely, Isolation was a wonderful game for the PS3, hard to believe that it came out all the way back in 2014. I remember initially finding it a bit off-putting that they made the Xenomorph unkillable throughout, however since the first film was also about the crew not being able to kill it while still being proactive in pursuing it, I thought when Ripley eventually found a way it became that much more satisfying. So the idea grew on me because it made sense thematically and was faithful to the original story. Earlier this year, rumours resurfaced that Neill Blomkamp's long-abandoned Alien project might be back in development. I believe it was dropped by the studio when they decided that Scott's prequel series would be the main focus of the franchise moving forward.

Crazy amount of falls so far at Wimbo. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where the order of play comes out and I'm looking at it hoping that favourite players are put on the outside courts instead of one of the two big ice rinks. I've seen a few people saying that because the grass hasn't been played on for two years it's become more slippery, which seems a bit odd to me. Fingers crossed that's not the case.

Honestly think that could be it now for the GC. Madness. Stunning ride from Pogacar. Roglic and Thomas aquitted themselves well in difficult circumstances. Carapaz will be disappointed, that must have been at the outer limits of what he was hoping for.

As per usual I was only half listening to JP's musings from the commentary box tonight, but it sounds like Ukraine have Matt Bianco as one of their star players. Who knows what other surprises they have in store for England in the quarters, Shakin' Stevens or Cliff Richard perhaps. Let's not get too carried away, that's all I'm saying.
