  1. The third and final extra character for the DLC has been revealed, and as expected, it's Shiva.

I must confess, I thought Bernal looked pretty comfortable at the end there, he did the sensible thing and trusted that Yates, after his jump, would ride at more or less the same tempo. Having said that, if Yates can close the gap to a minute or less today, there's a chance he could be a danger in the TT. What a strange race it's been for DQS. I could see Almeida finishing fourth or even getting on the podium, perhaps depending on how it goes for Caruso. Either way, it's great fun to see the race still so open at Stage 20.

As expected, today's stage was more or less an unofficial rest day for the GC contenders. The most danger Bernal had to guard against was probably falling asleep at the wheel, but tomorrow's summit finish should be another chance for rivals to test him.

Maybe, just maybe, Villarreal are quite good.

Nadal, Djokovic and Federer in the same half of the draw at Roland Garros, which is a rarity in itself, but it's also a chance for either Thiem to get another shot or for a new face to make a debut appearance in a slam final.

First signs of fallibility in Bernal today. Tomorrow probably won't bring much change, but there's a chance we might see a shake-up on Friday and Saturday. Thrilled for Dan Martin, although there can't be many more frustrating riders out there. Listed as a favourite for every GT only to struggle with the expectation, then goes and produces a ride like that.

The thumping of Liverpool and the double over Arsenal were particularly eye-catching for Villa this season, overall it looks as if the spine of the team and the back line are pretty solid. Perhaps with another three or four additions of real quality added to the mix, and there's probably a good chance that the owners will deliver them, I dare say a push for Europe could be on the cards.

Not that we saw a great deal of the proceedings yesterday, but that was the second mountain stage where Bernal has simply annihilated the field. Given what he said about enjoying the conditions, it would have been interesting to see if he could have taken more time from the other contenders or if having the original route would have favoured Carthy, who didn't appear to want the race shortened. Great performance by Bardet, too.

Evenepoel, thoughts arrive like butterflies (with apologies). Obviously, he's not going to get back into contention this time, but I look forward to seeing what the future holds. He seems to have something about him, a touch of arrogance or showmanship perhaps. Whatever it is, it works for him.

Give me a three way showdown between Bernal, Roglic and Pogacar at the 2022 Tour de France and all will be right with the world.

Well done to Lincoln of course, I thought they were by far and away the better side across the two legs, although in truth it doesn't seem to take much to expose our limitations these days. Once our first half energy began to dissipate, we offered precious little. Naturally I suppose the question for most fans will be whether or not Johnson should stay, because it feels like most of the goodwill he earned from December onwards has been squandered. While I'm not necessarily in the camp that thinks we'd be better off getting rid, our usual calling card of sacking the manager in mid-October and then drafting someone else in to try and galvanise a patchy squad assembled without much in the way of joined-up thinking is an area that I'd like to think Dreyfus would be sensible enough to stay out of. We shall see. As things stand, I don't think anyone of note in the league will be looking at us as a genuine threat for next season and I suppose you'd have to say, rightly so. This is a squad mostly comprised of plodders that has never really screamed "promotion favourites" to me, we don't seem to poach youngsters from the divisions below or take loans from those in the divisions above, nor do we even attract in-form players from League One rivals. The hope is that we operate sensibly over the summer and change that, and with a bit more financial clout than Donald and Methven could muster.

It feels like anyone hoping to win will have to do something special now. If they're waiting for Bernal to crack, I think they'll be waiting a long time.

A fairly routine flat stage I thought, but luckily came alive in the last kilometre. Great to see Nizzolo finally take a win though, I do like it when the smaller teams get a bit of glory.
  15. I meant to mention it before, but the "Tom Olsen" Twitter feed (playing out the events of MGS2 from the point of view of a worker at Big Shell) that appeared last month was fun while it lasted. Some considerable excitement was seemingly generated a little while later when Konami's official MGS account engaged with it, although I believe it was confirmed afterwards that it was just a fan-made tribute.

The argument between Brambilla and Bennett was crazy today. Brambilla had gotten through tons of work and lost it because he was in a grump with Bennett, who would have had next to no chance of beating the others in a sprint. Overall, it looks like it's Bernal's to lose, but Vlasov and Carthy are still lurking and I'm expecting a tilt from Yates at some stage.

That storming run of results after Lee Johnson's arrival in December feels like a very long time ago now. Perhaps an outside chance that the 10,000 fans allowed in for Saturday's return leg could give the team a lift, but overall this group looks leggy and devoid of ideas. If by some miracle we do end up getting promoted, the squad would need a massive revamp to have even the slightest chance of being competitive. Although come to think of it, that revamp will be needed even if we're still in League One. Desperately, desperately poor.

I think I'm right in thinking that the closest Estonia ever came was a losing effort in the play-offs for Euro 2012, although I'm struggling to recall if Mart was still playing by that point. Hard to believe now that he only spent couple of years with us (and that Mick McCarthy once considered Kelvin Davis a better bet in goal), but the header and the image of him receiving a standing ovation afterwards from both sets of fans will stay with me forever, I think.
  19. Yeah, it always seemed to me that the James Bond franchise was really the only one that genuinely embraced the reality of lead actors eventually having to be replaced, and then recasting when the time felt right to reinvigorate the concept. In the case of Marvel, they may be wanting to hold off on recasting for a while, partly so as not to cheapen the impact that the likes of Evans and Downey have had in the roles, and partly because they still have a few of the "big guns" in reserve with things like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. We'll probably see the lesser known characters utilised more and more though, which won't be a problem if the stories they're telling are good, but if it reaches the point where we're getting an Inhumans for every Daredevil, it might be better to leave certain things alone for the time being and come back to them later.
  20. It could perhaps have been video game adaptations already if not for the fact that Hollywood still seems mostly clueless on how to take a genuinely good game and turn it into a genuinely good movie. All big companies go where the market takes them though, as soon as someone "cracks the code" and one or two come out that make decent money at the box office, I would anticipate every studio rushing to make more.
  21. It was a weird one, the actor who played Liu Kang seemed to spend the entire movie with a look of either worry or shock on his face, which is pretty distracting whenever he's on screen. Maybe it was the direction, but I didn't really care for the portrayal.
  22. Got around to seeing it. Overall, I'd say there's a chance we may see a stronger sequel at some stage, perhaps depending on how this one performs, but I really think they'd have been better served by some of the exposition happening via flashbacks instead of just characters talking at each other (which is basically why the new MMA guy is there). Certainly though, there was some fun to be had. Sub Zero gets a chance to show some personality and motivation, and Kano and Kabal are enjoyable to watch. I'd probably watch one more installment to see what happens and maybe take it from there.
  23. I expect it'll end up being a bit of both. With paid DLC apparently on the slate in the future, CDPR will want to fix the technical issues, but obviously the extent to which improvements can be made is still up in the air. In particular it seems like patching for last-gen consoles has remained a major problem, although the longer they take to do that, the less relevant those versions perhaps become. Still though, even with five months presumably focused on making improvements and fixing bugs, they've yet to appease Sony enough to have it reinstated to PlayStation Store, not just for PS4 but also for PS5 where it apparently runs reasonably well at this point. However, it's probably less likely that people hoping for a more fleshed-out open world, a better story or improved gameplay mechanics will get their wish, and I dare say the latter is the biggest issue with Cyberpunk. Even if it gets to a technically flawless state, it seems more likely that the game itself will be merely decent rather than groundbreaking.
