Gone with the Wind, first published in May 1936, is a romantic novel and the only novel written by Margaret Mitchell. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia and Atlanta, Georgia during the American Civil War and Reconstruction[1] and depicts the experiences of Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner. The novel is the source of the extremely popular 1939 film of the same name. TitleThe title is taken from the first line of the third stanza of the poem Non Sum Qualis eram Bonae Sub Regno Cynarae[2] by Ernest Dowson: "I have forgot much, Cynara! Gone with the wind." The novel's protagonist, Scarlett O'Hara, also uses the title phrase in a…

Mark Kermode (a well-known film critic in the UK) asked this on a podcast a short while ago and it piqued my interest somewhat. What are your picks for best performances in bad movies?

  5. The idea of this thread is not promoting big, recent releases, but either smaller, independent movies that fewer people might have heard of yet, or older classics that might not get that much attention any more. My list, for now: Paths of Glory (1957) One of the most powerfull war movies I have ever seen, and yet, a lot of people seem oblivious to it. It really grips you and shows you the absurdity of war in all it's ugliness. It's even more remarkable, if you consider the herioc tone most, if not all of it's contemporary war movies had. Stalag 17 (1953) The ultimate POW camp movie, imho. I prefer it to the Great Escape even. It's probably closer in tone to Hart's War. …

It is quite simple i will post a image, blocking the title and all text (no tag lines or actors) and you guess what it is. Winner does the the next one. if no one gets it in a 24 hour period then the poster will reveal what it is and everyone who did not get it will wear a dunce cap, in the posters imagination at least. PLEASE DO NOT GUESS IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON DOING IT NEXT. First one:

It couldn't be easier, simply name the movie that the screenshot is taken from. Whoever has their guess confirmed by the original poster can then post a shot of their own. Rules: If no one can guess the movie correctly within 2 days, the poster must provide clue(s) When a guess has been made and the poster does not confirm the guess within 2 days, someone should PM the poster to remind them to stop by the thread. Those who guess successfully must post a new screenshot within 24 hours of having their guess confirmed. If that amount of time passes without the game being moved on, they forfeit their turn and it becomes a case of 'first come first served'.…

Make sure you say the movie name. 8. Have fun! Let's begin:

Here is the thread for you to admit to your guilty pleasure movies. This could be a guilty pleasure for any reason. Like whether they are hated or crap acted movies but you still love it, or the type of movies you watch mainly to see a certain person in etc. Some of my guilty pleasure movies are the really crappy acted/bad effects type movies. Movies that i wont admit to liking lol... - Street Fighter - Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 - DOA: Dead or Alive - Snakes on a Plane - Anaconda - House of Wax Then if i choose movies based on just watching for the actor i would say Zoe Saldana. I only watced Vantage Point just to see her small 10 minute role. Or i sometimes go back…

Hitting theatres November 18th, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the next in the (to be) seven book series turned movies by J.K. Rowling. Based in Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, we find our scarred hero attending the Quidditch World Cup (and running into trouble), as well as taking part in the Tri-Wizard Tournament. In this movie we will meet several new characters, as well as see the rebirth of the Dark Lord Voldemort (played by Ralph Fiennes) I imagine everyone has read this book, at least everyone will before seeing the movie. I'm pretty much guessing it'll be a lot like the third, where you had to have read the book to…

Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage…
