I can't be sure of the point, and as I said before their situation mostly confuses me. Maybe the writers are trying to put something positive in a show with a lot of negativity.  :idk:

I doubt there will be much more to their story than is already there.

I found some rumors/easter egg

The Army of the Dead will march

across the ice along the wall.  They won't go through the wall.  This frozen river is shown in Screenshots of from the Westeros map intro.

I'm not sure I have ever seen this talked about. How far south can the dead go? Can they only go where there is snow? Or can they go anywhere?

Doesn't the snow storm follow them or something?  (I dunno)

^^  I'm not sure I thought about it before my previous post. I wondered if Dorne was safe from the dead and that's why I thought of the question.

They can go no further than the wall. If they breach the wall somehow (which I'm quite sure they will) I don't see why they couldn't reach even Dorne. Even though much milder it'll still be Winter there, and the White Walkers (I still prefer to call them the Others :chicken: ) make the Winter stronger. Maybe Dorne could be more complicated for them? But they could get till the Reach without a doubt.

I think they were worried people would think of the Others from Lost. The problem is, I imagine using walkers makes some people think of The Walking Dead, so they didn't really avoid the problem. The weird thing is they didn't come up with a word for the wights in the show, I can only remember them being called the dead.

I read the leaks for season 7.  These leaks have been proved accurate so far. Please don't read further if you find not getting spoiled important.

Spoiler

According to them, Cersei lives in S7 and the final struggle continues.  So, in a way, S7 and S8 are really one story.

Yes, that was the reason for it, or one of the main ones. But indeed they didn't avoid the problem. Though if I remember correctly both shows started around the same time, or at most one year apart.

I think the dead have no special name in the books.

No spoilers: A more extensive and detailed leak has come out.  The episodes are to vary extensively in length (shortest is 47 minutes, longest is 81 minutes).  If all the details are true (and they appear to be) this is going to be a great season.  There is plenty to anticipate for S8.

Spoiler

Olenna's death was quite understated and without much bile.

^^   If they knew what she did, it would have gone differently, I imagine. (keeping it vague)

maybe.  The thing with Jaime is that there was little sense that he was Joffery's father throughout the prior seasons.  I remember a scene with Jaime and Joffery in front of a book but that's it.

It does feel like they

were really in a rush to bump Olenna, one of the best characters, off this season.  She had two small scenes, and it's the end.  She went out with a whimper.
