March 27, 201510 yr Does anyone know the shortest amount of time a girl worked with VS/was under contract before she received the FB?
March 28, 201510 yr ^ Karolina got it in 2002 without being an Angel and then got it in 2006 after being an Angel for 12 month. Marisa was signed in 2007 and got it in 2009.This year it'll be Candice or Adriana, maybe juuust maybe Behati. All the others have no chance tbh.
March 28, 201510 yr ^ Oh I was counting how long the model has worked with VS regardless of Angel status I think KK started working with VS in 2000 and Marisa 2002. With Selita I think she became an Angel a few months after working with VS...
March 28, 201510 yr Not a single one of these new girls has a "WOW" factor with me. Except Elsa, they're all Lily clones with different hair colors. Totally agree with this. Do people really, really find these girls exciting? Sure they're photogenic and friendly, but can they light up a whole room with charisma and bring star power? Uhh.... The swim episode made it pretty obvious how inadequate/unprepared some of these models are. Out of the new girls, Joan probably left the best impression on me, and ironically she's the one they aren't gonna hire. The end is beginning pretty much. Adriana/Ale leaving will be a huge step towards the end, and then once Candice is gone the brand is dead (in terms of model relevance). They will be just any other American chain that hires models, like Aerie or Guess.
March 28, 201510 yr Author VS will make their money regardless of huge supermodels or not. Whether they have Adriana or not they'll still make money. So instead they'll have a bunch of new fresh faces who are cheap and the company will still make a shitload of money at the end of the day. Not that the star powers of the girls don't matter. But no matter what VS is a big deal and their fashion show each year is always highly anticipated. As long as they have a bunch of hot babes modeling their stuff they don't care.
March 28, 201510 yr Thanks for the answers re: the shortest amount of time a girl was with the brand before she got the FB. If they do have 2 bras again (I doubt it) and they're serious about any of these new girls, maybe they'd give one to Adriana/Candice/Behati and one to one of the newer girls. But if there's only 1, I agree that it's going to be one of those three, the others don't have a shot. VS the brand is bigger than any of its models so it'll be fine once Candice leaves. Unless they happen to strike gold with a girl before that happens, I think she'll be the last "big" name for the brand.

Is it really safe to say that? I mean yes, VS is a large company and will definitely always make money. However, part of the allure of the brand is the hot, larger than life supermodels behind it. The likes of Gisele, Heidi, Tyra, Adriana, etc helped make VS the brand that it is today. If that legacy isn't continued, what does it mean for the brand in the future? They need at least SOME star power.

Anyways I always feel those who get the FB way too early isn't a good thing cause their time is ending and VS just wants to give them a leaving gift and say bye.Ale got it after 11 years, Adri 7-8 years, Candy after 6 -7 years. Technically Doutzen should be getting it this year if she was here. It'll will be a very jaw dropping moment to see the existing batch of angels together one last time at this year's show, after this a major shakeup might be happening.

Don't you mean to say that part of the allure of the brand is the hot, larger than life supermodels is for us, cause I can promise you the that average person on the street gives zero fucks who modeling the lingerie and they care even less about trying to figure out who they are. It seems pretty safe to assume the average person just want to buy underwear/lingerie without having to go to a million and one stores in the mall to find something remotely stylish or sexy, and because VS is easily the most recognizable place to buy said "stylish" underwear, they consumer will gravitate towards the store to buy regardless. At this point I'm pretty damn sure VS could fire every model they have, replace them with a couple of unknown girls and switch them out every 7 months for a new face/body and the masses would still enter the mall and go to vs.
March 28, 201510 yr Claudia Schiffer: started with VS in 1995 I guess, got the bra in 1996, contract: never?Tyra Banks: started with VS in 1996, got the bra in 1997 (and 2004), contract: 1996 or 1997Daniela Pestova: started with VS in 1996, got the bra in 1998, contract: 1996 or 1997Heidi Klum: started with VS in 1997, got the bra in 1999 (and 2001 and 2003), contract: 1998 or 1999Gisele Bundchen: started with VS in 1999, got the bra in 2000 (and 2005), contract: 2000 or 2001Karolina Kurkova: started with VS in 2000, got the bra in 2002 (and 2006), Angel contract: 2005Selita Ebanks: started with VS in 2005, got the bra in 2007, Angel contract: late 2005Adriana Lima: started with VS late 1998/early 1999, got the bra in 2008, 2010 and one bra in 2014, contract : reportedly 2000Marisa Miller: started with VS in 2002, got the bra in 2009, Angel contract: 2007Miranda Kerr: started with VS in 2006, got the bra in 2010, Angel contract: 2007 (Pink model since 2006)Alessandra Ambrosio: started with VS in 2000, got the bra in 2012 and another one in 2014, Angel contract: 2004 (Pink model since late 2003)Candice Swanepoel: started with VS in 2007, got the bra in 2013, Angel contract: late 2009 or 2010 So if we go by any VS work it's Claudia, Tyra or Gisele, if we go by Angel contract it's Karolina (or Claudia, since she never got one).
March 28, 201510 yr I walked past a 'GAP' store yesterday, and noticed that Erin Heatherton was plastered all over the front. On the corner of every image was the identification: 'Supermodel Erin Heatherton"
March 28, 201510 yr I think what is trying to be said here isn't that VS will go bankrupt without their powerful models. It's just that, VS prides themselves on working with the best of the best. it's a prestige thing for them. A statement To their competitors. It's gullible to think that models like Gisele didn't make any difference in the company when it came to profits or that the Average VS consumer wouldn't recognize Adriana when they see her in the catalogs or billboards. Why do you think when a girl like Adriana or Candice does an event, it has more press coverage and a great turnout or a million times more social media likes than when then Lais and Martha do? They aren't on the same level.I strongly think that, VS' caliber will drop in both the fashion industry and the masses if they use vanilla models as opposed to sex sirens and press staples. They will become another huge company that will keep bringing in the cash but altogether meh.

Same with VS.
March 28, 201510 yr I dont think so. In my view, some of the newbies have immense potential to be supermodels in the near future. I absolutely prefer them over the crop of yesteryear. IMO Gigi and Elsa will be integral for VS. Soon the real test's gonna begin when everyone but Elsa will be gone

Same with VS. Here's the difference:VS needed the supermodels to establish themselves and become and even bigger and better brand, gain fame + fame coverage and a loyal costumer base. They already have all those things, now VS doesn't need the models, the models need VS because along with SI those are the only two ways to become known-ish name. Real Madrid sucks so hard even if they overpay their players needs to win tittles to make money yearly because they need to sell tickets, merchandising + the sweet tv rights deal that increase or decrease depending on how success their team is. If any sports team has a sucky first half of the year, who is going to keep watching the games? No one, if VS drops every model and replaces them with unknown girls, who is going to give a fuck? No one, everyone will keep buying their products no matter what.
March 28, 201510 yr VS is very much like Chanel. They could hire the shittiest models and sell the shittiest bras, they're still going to make money because just as Chanel is perceived by the average person as this "classic, elegant" brand, so VS is widely considered the ultimate lingerie brand and it is also pretty much available in every mall in America (their main market). VS no longer has to worry about the quality of their products or the right spokespersons for its brand, people are still going to buy their shit.
March 28, 201510 yr Exactly. Back in the 90's VS was just starting to become a thing and models were superstars. Nowadays, VS is a powerhouse and no one really gives a shot about models anymore. Aside from Cara, Kendall, Kate U, Chrissy, Gigi, Karlie, Adriana, Alessandra, Miranda, Behati, Rosie and maybe Candice, Doutzen and Lily none of them are really known to the public and even then, most of them are known for stuff that isn't modeling (their family, their husbands, their attempts at acting...). As long as VS has relatively hot girls pushing not too shitty bras, they will be fine.
