Nope, I don't stick up for abusers.  I stick up for objectivity.

i think you are slanted against men, but that's acceptable.

It could have been objective without the cinical addition that her career dried up.

Why do women not talk?

Lets see, on the one hand you have a wealthy Hollywood producer/studio exec who would send an army of lawyers after you and accuse you of libel.

So unless you have proof beyond just your word (like witnesses who are willing to come forward) it's a losing proposition to make public accusations.

Or you wait to add your own story if/when other women come forward (which is what happened in Cosby's case).

Or you are the brave/rare individual who goes ahead with your accusation in spite of the fact that you know it will destroy your career and you have very little chance of winning.

We live in a world in which Brock Turner, who was caught in the act raping an unconscious woman, got a joke sentence. So unless a woman is very naive, she knows that the criminal justice system is skewed against her in cases of sexual assault, even when the prosecution has a very strong case. Which isn't the case in a he-said-she-said situation.

And we probably only have the NYT story

NYT is considered holy writ by millions of people- It's the leading SJW paper in the USA and the journalists get book deals.  Other liberal news often copies what it's doing.

I've read the posts on this page as assumptions.  No one here has identified precisely why the timing is so off and why it occurred now.  Of course, Rose's career was more important to her than reporting a rape.

Perhaps it might not have been had there been a possibility of a positive outcome.

where are the facts concerning Rose and the steps leading up to this some two decades later?   Solid Actions.

Not sure what exactly you are asking for.

Harvey Weinstein isn't the only serial abuser who got away with his behavior for years or decades.

Your argument seems to be that this is the fault of their victims?

The main difference is that you and the women here are focused on the victim energy, which is what the accusers want.  I am less interested in the crime, but focused on the possibility that this is a continuation of her celebrity career.  eg. is a desired result an appearance on Oprah, the View? Does she want to become an advocate?  Or was this a recent project by an team of investigative journalists at the New York Times?

If that is the case, then action steps were taken to land an expose and move towards mass influence.

Rose’s parents raised her and her siblings in a sex cult in her early childhood. Predators are good at finding vulnerable people to be their victims. Maybe having a messed-up childhood made her more vulnerable to him.

I hope i'm not "off topic" in saying that, but it reminds of Scream 3, the story ...

Hollywood got that nickname, the Dream Factory ... and as every factory there's material which is used to create the "dream". Sadly, the raw material is human in Hollywood. "The industry".

How many people got success for how many got a disappointment, or saw their life dammaged, or destroyed. Some, got the success but in paying a huge price, the price of the honour and dignity ...

That's the Weinstein today, that was some others before, and who are the next.

Hollywood and the artistic world in general make with these sad stories, of these more than murky stories their little world, their own buisiness. The show business.

Even the name of "Hollywood" is sarcastic i find.

People who historically created that business, made it in purpose to win a big amount of money, the most fastly and easily possible.

(Here we talk about the Hollywood system, so imagine now the porn industry ... The absolut nightmare.)

Sadly, the Weinstein and this world think that the job have to have a dark part, a price to pay on the road to fame. They think everybody know that, and this way, try to legitimate and surelly must feel less guilty for that. Think that fame ask some sacrifice. The sacrifice of the honour and the dignity ...The price to give. The system encourage them since the beggining.

That system is mirroring in this "indusrty", but once again that problem does exist everywhere. Job, politic etc ...

@Cult Icon, i won't repeat what i already said about your "opinion" ... I just hope those are words, only words, and that your behave is something different.

When you're a victim, alone, weak and afraid has already said, imagine how much hard it is to break the silent, and fight for your dignity.
