We all seem to put so much stock in tits and ass and super tiny waists and never stop to think that maybe it's the over all package and not a specific body part that does justice to a woman's body.

*edit* That didn't take long to write, not sure why its so long :/ . Let's see what I can do...maybe throw a few headings in there...

Intro

As for putting too much stock in certain features, for me, at the end of the day, I've come to believe we just can't put a cap on what impresses another.

For example, a redhead friend of mine says any blonde is an automatic 8/10 on his scale. That's just how impressed he is with blonde hair. Me myself have always perceived blonde hair to be vastly overrated. But at the end of the day, if it impresses him that much then there's something to it for him and tons of people love it. So I just give it the benefit of the doubt. I don't "get" butterfingers, finding them hard to chew and digest, but apparently tons love them so, what can I say? Nothing appeals to the eye, smell, ears and taste of all because of the diverse nature of tastes. One person may say big boobies are an 8 minimum.

Not my system, but if they love big boobies that much...

Legs

As bodies go, there are legs that are long that I love (Gisele, Stacy ect.), but I've always found the longness of legs (independent of other things) to be the quality I "got" the least. Where I come from long skinny legs make one the but of jokes, but I can see for a larger portion of the world its a delicacy. Some might give a 7 minimum for long legs, but if they like it that much I can't say they should like it less if it appeals to their eye any more than I can say they should like a food or a sound less. I personally prefer dancer type legs, but give leg longness by average the benefit of the doubt under the assumption that if so many people love it, there must be something to it.

Abs and Waists

I'm not impressed by rock hard woman abs, but I give those the benefit of the doubt, just out of the assumption that if they're esteemed as much as they are, they must be above average whether I like them or not. Not impressed by super tiny waists either, but the general reaction to such makes me give it the benefit of the doubt of being above average.

Boobs

I like big boobs, but don't think they're automatically superior per se. I think small and medium are great too, but then, I don't know anyone famous because of medium or small, whereas some are famous or even "icons" becaue of their big boobs, they turn more heads and some pay pretty penny to attain them, so I just subconsciously assume they're more above average.

Booty

On my scale, a non-overweight woman with a booty that's medium sized or bigger, round with at least fairly decent tightness is automatically above average, but that's just a bias of mine of course  .

General

There are quite a few models and celebs whose body does nothing for me, but particularly those that are known for their body, I give the benefit of the doubt as being above average by default of the average woman not having her body raved about. Pam anderson and Jessica Simpson do nothing for me, but they're known for their bodies so I assume they're above average whether I like them or not and just give benefit of the doubt.

My Formula

The opposite approach is of course to assess how much they appeal to one individually and that's fine too, and there are other formulas I've yet to perceive or grasp, but my system is 40% 60%. 60% what I like, 40% gage of how far above average it is.

But it takes all perspectives and opinions to make this family the colorful scene it is of course :grouphug: .

Some parts of her body are way too thin. Same problem as Ambrosio, for me.

Great post, Joe :)

I don't 100% agree on everything, but I basically do. I don't presume any body part is " superior" just because it's fashionable, and, at the end of the day, even if we find someone to look good on screen, that doesn't mean they're the type we go for in real life. I can find a blonde actor gorgeous, but I wouldn't usually find myself attracted to a blonde guy. One of my male friends loves skinny models, but he wouldn't give them one look at if they were in a club with him. Reality and fantasy are different things.

The media praises Beyonce's body and Lohan's. So, should we consider both above average? No, I wouldn't. Beyonce's? Hell yes! Lindsay's? Not at all. Fashion and media pressure has a grand effect on what many people perceive to be " beauty", whether we wanna admit it or not. In the 1920s, women with big tits wouldn't be considered great bodies because it wasn't fashionable. In the 1970s-80s, America developed an obssession with huge breasts. Does that mean men didn't find big boobs and curves gorgeous in the 20s? I doubt it! Did no flat-chested women get a look at during the 70s? No way! It's just what fashion and the media make us think is " gorgeous". It's seperate from reality in most cases.

Personally, I find it really disturbing, in our current decade, to hear about the amount of VS and other commercial models who have been under the knife. An industry that is supposed to promote beauty is actually promoting monstrification and the regementation of human beauty :( So sick.

But trends ebb and flow :) That's how I keep my chin up when I look at botoxified 20 year olds

Stam, great points (Y) Though I must clarity that I'm largely anti-media and am largely opposed to 90% of their opinions  . According to the media, for example, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Biel are regularly referred to as having the "best butts" whereas to me they're faily common among black, brazilian and puerto rican populations. And I also find the "most beautiful People list" to be largely unappealing and the "Maxim Hot 100" to be a total waste of space (for me). But I'll give the benefit of the doubt to things that are self evidently widely popular in every day life, though its only a .5 point grace  .
