Kazakh supermodel Ruslana Korshunova committed suicide

Very immature post by Prettyphile indeed. That famous people get more attention is nothing new. They get more attention in life and they get more attention when they die -- it doesn't make her death any less tragic. So far there's been uncertainty as to the cause of death, and naturally people are interested in knowing what happened, though suicide seems more and more likely. Still, it makes some of us wonder what made such a young and, for her age, very successful girl want to commit suicide when she had her whole life in front of her. Calling people "emo" and telling them to "move on" and "get over it" is just plain immature, and an excellent way to derail a thread that would have been better suited with the proper show of respect for the deceased. I don't even see any excessive "dwelling" going on here, and most people are probably not more affected than they can still function on a basic level. Still Prettyphile had to sneak in the tired "People die every day" rant. Unbelievable. If her lack of tact was an attempt at being original, she's a straight ten on her own "Failure Meter".

Ok I may sound like a mega bitch here, but why is everyone getting so emo over a woman dying? Yes it's sad, but none of you knew her in real life, why go on and on about it?

now I move on. Wait no I haven't.. omg I need to go QQ in her thread that I never once visited, I need to be a part of something and feel some kind of validation for my sadness.. [what sadness?]

Now I'm done.

Thanks mbinebri, Joeh & Pheno

I'm sorry if you feel what I said was immature, however mbinebri is right, this is all being blown out of proportion. I'm sorry if you don't like the reality of the situation, but wtf does her death have to do with your life? Yes it's sad, but my god some of you people are making a federal case out of it. It honestly seems like you're looking for a reason to be sad, at least from my perspective.

She's gone, and my thoughts go out to her friends and family, but why on earth would I, or anyone else who didn't personally know the girl, go on and on about it?

If you check through her thread, as well as this one, you'll seem a number of people freaking out over her death [over, and over]... and my question is WHY? It's not like she was your best friend, a family member, or hell even a coworker, she was just a pretty girl who very few of you ever really paid attention to TILL HER DEATH, you don't find that a bit ironic, let alone sad? Cause I do..

And you wonder why I ask why a number of you are being "emo?" .... I believe my own question was just answered.

Ruslana was a beautiful girl, it's sad her life was cut short. I feel for her friends and family, and I hope she's in peace [wherever she is]

Anyways, like pheno said... this will be the last thing I say about the matter. ;)

I remember watching the Betsey Johnson fashion show on youtube a long time ago and this girl caught my attention I thought she was so beautiful. I loved her hair and her legs she looked like a doll in that pink dress and that flowy hair she seemed like a fairy. I always wondered what her name was and then I stumbled here cause of the shocking title and wondered who this Ruslana girl was or looked like and I saw that Betsey Johnson runway pic on the first pg of this thread & :o it was that girl I was wondering about.

I finally got her name down but it's too late now. This is extremely sad cause she's dead now. :( such a beautiful girl shouldn't die such a terrible death

my condolences to her family and friends that knew her.

Well my thing with Fox News is pretty obvious, I don't like most of the people on that channel and I am sorry if I offened anyone with the video I really am. She was a beauitful woman, it is a shame I had to hear of her through death. But I was wondering of anyone else thought she looked like Candice Swanepoel? Or was that just me?

Ruslana Korshunova Suicide: The Conspiracy

Though the death of 20-year-old Kazakh model Ruslana Korshunova after falling from her New York balcony has been officially ruled a suicide, wags had already predicted that cranks would immediately seize on conspiracy theories involving the Russian mafia. From digging through Korshunova's blog entries to Zapruder-filmic analysis of death scene photos, no menacingly Slavic stone shall remain unturned. And of course, when you do look under the biggest, heaviest, most lichen-encrusted rock, you'll find Geraldo Rivera airing footage of Korshunova's corpse on a stretcher.

Beyond that, the basic premise of the conspiracy theory is that the Russian (and one assumes, Kazakh) underworld colludes with their semi-legal oligarchic corporate counterparts and corrupt government officials to traffic in high-dollar model flesh. It’s hard to find anyone willing to articulate this theory coherently, much less put their name to it. But here’s a reasonably complete, if bonkers, version. All spelling sic:

“But another theory has been delved upon by some authors of the fashion industry who claim that Ruslana´s death might be related to the model wanting out desperately and not being allowed to do so by the Paris-NewYork-Moscow mafia that controls teeange models. Some reports have linked the economic giant Gazprom with creating a web of model managment and discovery with a a tightly controlled escort spinoff that sets up supermodels with corporative tycoons.”

You may or may not recall that Gazprom is the Russian gas conglomerate that’s enjoyed many years of scandal; it’s also been the object and subject of Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin’s malign influence. The idea of such an outfit getting involved in a “web of model management” is kind of hilarious, though morbid given the present topic. Korshunova’s mother traveled all the way from Kazakhstan to retrieve the body, apparently without interference from the “Paris-New York-Moscow mafia.” Histrionics seem limited to the creeps, as even Korshunova’s main fansite merely colored the page black and noted “You will be missed.”
