The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War & Endgame (2012-2019)
Interesting. Guess we'll be needing a slight edit of the thread title too, then. Any idea what the thinking behind the change was?

Smallville
For me, it promised a lot more than it ever really delivered. I think in retrospect, it was mainly Michael Rosenbaum's performances as Luthor that elevated an otherwise fairly mediocre show.

The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War & Endgame (2012-2019)
Peter Dinklage is thought to be in negotiations for a key role in the movie. If he is indeed in Infinity War, it might make him the first actor to appear in both the X-Men films and the MCU. Unless I'm missing someone really obvious.

Trumpland U.S.A
After he basically threatened to silence them, Trump was never going to be given an easy ride by the mass media. Obviously, what he said doesn't necessarily mean that he's on some kind of mission to unpick the first amendment, but taken in isolation it’s a bit worrying. Not because I love CNN or the BBC, but because the President should always be answerable to the press, including the more hostile sections of it.

Marvel's Iron Fist
Netflix continues to bust out teasers for the show. This latest one offers a more in-depth look at Colleen Wing.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Man, now I want Judi Dench in a Star Wars movie. Not to mention every other movie. Lovely to see Daisy Ridley back on Instagram though, even if it is via someone else's account. Daisy's was one of the most optimistic and positive IG feeds I've ever seen, celebrity or otherwise. The fact that she was driven away by trolls is just another example of why we can’t have nice things.

Marvel's Iron Fist
I do love that they've made Claire a fixture of Marvel's Netflix stuff. If Rosario Dawson is on my TV screen, I'll never complain. A bit of a surprise to see the relative lack of action sequences in this latest clip. Since the other shows have had multiple trailers, I've a feeling that we might get a pure action one later on. Truthfully, the version of Danny Rand in the books was never the most interestingly written guy, so unless they're holding back a few deconstructive twists, the show will probably stand or fall based on its fight scenes.

Marvel's Iron Fist
At long last, Netflix has released the first full-length trailer.

Westworld
Yeah, a lot of the mysteries have been solved, others are still kind of lingering, although probably not to the point where the next season could write itself. It seems like there are only two places the show could really go if it keeps concentrating on Westworld (feuding and in-fighting between different factions trying to take control of what's left of the park, or all the hosts escaping into the real world), but I don't know if shifting focus to, say, Samurai World instead would appeal to me that much either. Just seems like a bit of a flawed proposition somehow.

Westworld
As fascinating as I found the universe they created and the issues raised within it, there were long stretches where some of the plotlines and characters were either allowed to drift a bit too much, or just weren't that interesting. The payoff that unfolded across the last few episodes made it well worth watching overall, though. Too many shows leave you hanging at the end of each season, and when the payoff finally does arrive, it's quite often hugely disappointing and comes a few seasons too late. This is perhaps the only recent series I can think of where the first season wraps up with a satisfying and well thought-out finale.

Ruth Negga (born 7 January 1982) is an Ethiopian-Irish actress, who has appeared in the films Capital Letters (also released as Trafficked in some countries), Isolation, Breakfast on Pluto, Warcraft and Loving. She has also played roles in television, such as in the BBC's mini-series Criminal Justice, RTÉ's Love/Hate, E4's Misfits, and ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. In 2016, she began a starring role as Tulip O'Hare in AMC's Preacher. For her portrayal of Mildred Loving in Loving, Negga was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress, Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead, Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress, and a BAFTA Rising Star Award.

The Young Pope
It certainly isn't the sort of thing that I would expect to be everyone's cup of tea, but it is more or less everything you could reasonably expect from ten hours of Sorrentino. At times bizarre and surreal, at times slow and frustrating, funnier than you might imagine and looks incredible. Performance wise, it's probably the best work Jude Law has ever done, although I guess one could argue that it's a relatively low bar to clear.

The Young Pope
This didn't seem to gain much traction in the UK, not too surprising I suppose since it sits a bit awkwardly alongside the episodic storytelling that we now tend to see as the norm for our dramas. It's going to interesting though to see how it plays in the States, both critically and with the HBO crowd.

Trumpland U.S.A
Bearing in mind what an inauspicious start Trump has made to his presidency in those two weeks, I don't know if you could consider the reaction to be entirely overblown. He may yet confound some of our expectations, but as things stand, it's pretty hard to say there’s nothing at all to be concerned about.
