The reason that people like Sackhoff for the role is her work on BSG. Carol Danvers is a pilot with years of experience and used to being in a command position. That is exactly the kind of role that Sackhoff played on BSG.

Yay for Captain Marvel. I have always liked Carol Danvers. I wonder who they will cast in the role. Some suggest Jennifer Lawrence and whilst she would be great, I hope they try to be a bit more original in their casting choice.

I think the main difference between SASI and recent editions of SI (for me personally) is that SASI doesn't have any girls like Chrissy or Hannah who make me go "WTF is she even doing in this magazine"? So even though not all of them are my type, I can appreciate that they all at least have good bikini bodies and attractive faces.

It's been suggested that Whedon intends this to be his "Empire strikes back", which means it will likely be much darker than the first Avengers flick, and will almost certainly end on a rather sad/dramatic note. I hope it still has enough humor and moments of levity, as those were the things that made Whedon's first movie stand out from the other superhero fodder.
