  1. I suppose so, a colleague of mine is Dutch and when she spent a year in China shortly after graduating, she attracted a small crowd when she first had her hair cut, since many people had apparently never seen a blonde white woman before.
  2. This sums it up rather well imho.
  3. Lets not fool ourselves, all of the girls who are walking the VSFS are skinny. My only hope - each year - is that none of them are so unhealthily thin-looking that I feel queasy just watching them stroll down the runway.
  4. Well I'm guessing she wouldn't do something like that for chump change?
  5. "Whatever" only applies if you don't give a fuck about how the people whose cultural totems (pun not intended) are being recycled for a fashion show feel about things.
  6. From the article, going straight to the heart of the matter: "but they're not giving enough thought to how those roles might be perceived by people who work outside 7th Avenue in Manhattan." And that should not be the case for such a big company.
  7. I'm guessing that Kate is getting a massive amount of dough for this?
  8. The Karlie gaffe did reveal a certain tone-deafness and myopia that such a big company should not have. Or rather, they cannot afford it.
  9. VS has certainly been guilty of cultural insensitivity, e.g. when they stupidly put Karlie in an Indian headdress. It's a rather staggering gaffe for such a big, international brand to make. You'd think someone in that company would have seen the error (the cultural appropriation) in that look long before it made it out onto the runway.
  10. Well part of the problem is that the likes of Tyra, Heidi, Pestova, Casta, Gisele ... had big, pre-existing careers before they landed their VS deals. VS seems more inclined to "creating" their own high-profile girls nowadays, which isn't necessarily an easy thing to do. Objectively speaking, Karlie is a very pretty girl but I find her so incredibly boring. It's not so much about the looks as it is about the personality. Whatever else people might think about Cara, at least her quirkiness gives her an edge. I compared Karlie to a Stepford wife after last years VSFS and even though it was meant as a joke, it held a kernel of truth in that she might as well have been made in a VS Angel factory.
  11. You can't really make that stuff happen, which is part of the problem. Another such moment was KKs "airheel" when she lost a shoe. Though by then she was probably already the main attraction.
  12. +1 Candi's "who's that girl moment" was really the last time it happened. However, not all of the little moments that get your attention lead to a jump in status for the model. e.g. Lindsay Frimodts booty shake is what I remember most from VSFS 2003, but was she even in another VSFS after that?
  13. It is worth remembering that Casta only walked four shows. Casta! Double the amount of Casta is already a bit absurd imho, but doing ten more (like Adri) is having a laugh.
  14. I think we can almost all agree that Adri's 14!!! appearances (15 if you count the one year they swapped out the VSFS for the Angels on Tour thingy) is way, way too much. Heck, I think even Candi's 8th show is pushing things a bit, and I love miss Swanepoel.
  15. 1. If we are talking angels, I would say 7-8 years. Career arc: Year 1-2 rookieYear 3 Angel statusYear 4-6 Depending on their exposure, they climb the ladder to perhaps become one of the main 2-3 angelsYear 7 (possibly 8) They get their last hurrah before leaving the company 2. The current number of Angels is fine 3. Angels should feature most. Regular models who are not elevated to Angel status are swapped out after two, maximum three years. Unless they are fan favorites (in which case they should be elevated to Angel status anyway). 4. Pink model moves up to the main line after maximum two years or leaves
  16. I love Adri (my original moniker on here was Limafan FFS) but I have long since stopped caring about what she looks like at the VSFS. Nothing against her personally, but after so many years, it is time for new blood. There is only so many ways in which the same model can surprise, and Adri is long past that point.
  17. I would say that the VSFS has grown weirder and quirkier almost each new year in the 2000s. Certainly since 2005. Cara goofing off probably wouldn't even crack my top fifty of weirdness.
  18. I'm perpetually surprised at how serious some people take the VSFS, when it's literally a show where we had a model dressed like a huge smiley or with the effing Eiffel tower on her head.
  19. She has a sexy belly. That stuff is like kryptonite to me.
  20. Honestly, looking at that line-up, I'm a bit disappointed again. There is so little variety in the body types. Where are the equivalents of say, Laetitia or even Tyra in this current line-up?

It's hard to imagine any other sport having such a double PR-Hindenburg as Wigan just did with Mackay's appointment and then Whelan's presser defending the appointment...
  22. That was Lindsay Frimodt if we're thinking about the same booty shake. We are, I am mixing them up again (I do it often).
  23. I was more bothered by how thin Rhoda looked last year than the blue hands incident, TBF.
