Not sure if anyone here would appreciate something like this but I figured I could post it anyway. I'm just getting started on working with this guy who is a custom bass and musical instrument maker on getting his website up. He has some old picture which aren't all that great but they show the amazing work that this guy does. Just check it out.... 1. 8 different kinds of woods. waves raised up for thumb rests. 2. various basses being used around the world 3. 5 string fretless with 5 indiviual handwound pickups under handcrafted pickup cover 4. Wikipedia A Cappella (Italian: “at the chapel” or Latin: "From the chapel/choir") music is vocal music or singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. A cappella was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato style. In the 19th century a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music. In modern usage, a cappella often refers to an all-vocal performance of any style, including barbershop, doo wop, and modern pop/rock.

Biography from Rolling Stone Portishead formed in Bristol, England in 1991 and is credited with being one of the first bands to popularize the trip-hop genre. Their seminal 1994 album, Dummy, brought trip-hop to the British mainstream and introduced the music to the American "alternative" scene. The band is named after the town where founder Geoff Barrow grew up. At the dawn of the '90s, Barrow was making a name for himself as a remixer, working with such artists as Primal Scream, Paul Weller and Depeche Mode. In addition, Barrow had produced a track for Tricky and written songs for Neneh Cherry. Aided by a financial grant, Barrow formed Portishead with vocalist Beth Gibb…

So, yeah...any fans of trance music? I know it gives a lot of people headaches, but I like it for some reason. Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren are both amazing. Also, I've recently heard some of DJ Tiesto's stuff too...not bad at all..

  13. Like the backstreet boys and the spice girls? Seriously it's awesome, really much better than music today no matter what anyone says. I'd rather have good overly produced, "sugar-coated" music than real crappy "down to earth" music. Like seriously who cares if it's a good song. I don't know how many times I've listen to "I want it that way" in the past few weeks, but definitely a lot.

  14. Ok so I am pretty up to date with the music scene and granted I miss some stuff but I don't kno how I missed this girl? Colette Carr, is huge! Who else slipped through your fingers and you missed their crazy popularity climb?

I do think that we need a thread like this. There are so many music videos out there - good ones, bad ones. Some actually underline the message of the song, some carry the feeling of it. Just go ahead and start - any year, genre, singer/band. Doesn't matter as long as you feel the need of sharing it (out of praise or criticism and everything in-between...)

Ok, so I was bored. Maybe this is a stupid poll, or maybe not. I think Dave is the obvious choice. However, Adrian had some really fast licks, so I'm not sure. I'm voting for Dave anyway, though Here's a cool video of the original band playing "Phantom Of The Opera" http://64.224.182.233/maiden_phantom.mov

I'm new here. Sorry ahead of time if I do something wrong with posting this. I have read through some of the threads that some of you listen to metal. Well...anyways I am wondering who do you think are the hot guys/girls in metal music? I hear people ask me all the time who I have a "crush" on, but then they don't know who I'm talking about because some of the people in my music are very obscure So...I wish I had some one else I can discuss this with, and I want to know what you think, because I never know!

http://www.myspace.com/geminipl The band was formed after the summer of 2009 by the master Felipe. The idea behind it was to gather a group of creative musicians from different bands that could constitute an ensemble playing music that is sophisticated, ambitious and yet accessible. Musically, gemiNi draws from many genres, mainly alternative and progressive rock, pop-rock and trip-hop. The songs were recorded at a recent rehearsal. Enjoy. And comment.
