June 28, 201410 yr What a dynamic first half!!!! wooaaah And that last corner + attack from Chilli should have been a goal! I don't know what will happen in the 2nd half, but if the Brazilians get dethroned in their own country, it will be the biggest surprise of the tournament. Neymar's got good moves, he's very dangerous in those quick runs, he picks up the ball very fast, but then Sanchez is as dangerous as Neymar is, so nothing is decided yet Can't wait to see more goals in the 2nd half/.
June 28, 201410 yr OH MY GOD! this match just drove me to tears!!!!! the penalties! and how can they hit the bar twice?? once in the regular time and once during penalties!!! I certainly saw more than i could ask for in this game, but wow, i almost had a heart attack a the penalty kicks!
June 28, 201410 yr At first I was for Brazil but when I saw the fantastic play from Chile I wished they won. So if none of the teams could score each other goals in the given time then they are pretty equal no?Im so sad for Chile!!!! But I guess it's better for the WC and for the whole tournament that Brazil won. I guess if they lost it would have been a catharsis. They'd start off a revolution or something.
June 28, 201410 yr Author Dramatic just doesn't seem to cut it, what a game that was. If that was a measure of what to expect from the knockout stages of this World Cup, then we're going to be in for one hell of a treat over the next two weeks. Instinctively I rooted for Chile throughout, but I found it hard to begrudge Brazil the victory, especially considering the state the players were in before the shootout. Half of them looked like they were on the verge of a complete breakdown. Still, the finish was so tough on the Chileans. They produced a wonderfully vibrant performance, and Aranguiz's exocet missile penalty was one of the best I've ever seen. As sad as it is to see them go home, they can do so with heads held high.
June 28, 201410 yr I called it that Brazil would go through. Honestly if Brazil were not to have gone through there'd be an outcry and people would whine and hate Neymar forever (because Brazil is Neymar and his 10 other accomplices). I was asleep of course when the match happened but from what people have said, Chile did play good, even in the previous round. They should be proud of everything they achieved this year. They beat the World Champs by 2-0 so maybe next time, Chile will be one to watch. Now I am ready for the Dutch to kick Mexico in the butt tomorrow and then I shall get my redemption and see if they shall go "Arriba Arriba!" anymore. I cannot deal with how rude the Mexican fans have been on social media.
June 28, 201410 yr Time for some images I find amusing This represents Chile and Brazil in one image. Emotional couple surrounded by non emotional people And these guys have Halloween sorted
June 28, 201410 yr I think I have found the best article ever, the sad fans of the WC. Some of the faces http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/25/sad-world-cup-fans_n_5530631.html
June 28, 201410 yr So sad right now... It's a general feeling here. The streets are almost empty.I'd say Chile was a team to watch already, but Brazil once again were luckier, penalties are a lottery after all. I'd like to say "Fuck FIFA", but at least this time we had a fair refereeing. So once again the same. Out in second round, and for third straight World Cup against Brazil... Now I just hope Colombia will rape Brazil in quarter finals, they so not deserve to be in the next round. VIVA CHILE MIERDA.
June 28, 201410 yr Author Chile will be missed. Uruguay, not so much. Watching Colombia-Uruguay was like watching a star being born, except it only took an hour and a half. James Rodriguez's chest and volley for the opening goal was probably the best strike at a World Cup since his namesake Maxi in 2006. I wonder if the Colombians will have the confidence to attack Brazil with the same vibrancy. I hope so, they play some lovely stuff, score great goals and seem to have a real, genuine team spirit about them.
June 29, 201410 yr I just woke up and I am still full of emotion from last night's game between Brazil and Chile. Didn't watch the 2nd match, I was too tired. I agree that penalties are a lottery, I don't find them to be a true measure of the abilities of the two teams. If two teams can't beat each other in the regular time, this means they are equal. It's all about luck in penalties, malchance for Chile. But Howard Webb, one of my fave refs, did a fantastic job last night. He wasn't fooled though several times players were falling down for penalties, but he knew just how to handle the game, so I am very happy with his refereeing. Tonight's 1st match should be as entertaining as last night's I hope. I am cheering for Holland, but lets see how it goes.
June 29, 201410 yr Chile had a golden chance to knock out Brasil, just luck wasn't was them. Hoping that Chile can knock out Brazil, but I doubt it. They will certainly have the ref against them.I doubt that FIFA would even allow them to be knocked out prior to the semis. Unexpectedly, the referee was fair,Brasil could be kicked out of the WC,but penalities did pretty good for them.
June 29, 201410 yr The FIFA should punish Luis Suarez. FIFA put hard ,deserved punishment yesterday on Suarez, they decided to ban Suarez after evidences (videos, and such stuff) from their match against Italy. He won't play again in this CUP,he's banned also from any activity relating to football for the coming four months, till November specifically. Funny that some English journals asked he should be put in a Psych ward TO examine his mental health. I think it would be good for him if the psychologist run him the test. It looks like Suarez has problem with control of emotion, and this behaviour is sort of reflex action, than intentional behavior. I wish him the best. He didn't harm anyone. I don't remember the name of italian soccer player who got injury just before the World Cup. I'm pretty sure if we asked him he would took Suarez bite instead of broken leg didn't harm anyone? that's really weird NOT to consider biting not a harm,it's a harm, and it's a very rude act infact.
June 29, 201410 yr They do. Dani Alves wasnt at his best last night, so imagine Neymar injured or with a yellow card so he misses one game, then what happens? The team relies too much on him. But I was glad to see him so calm during the last penalty strike. He was just so confident and at ease. Psychology is a big part of this game.
June 29, 201410 yr Author I can't help feeling that Brazil's lack of quality attacking options will be what derails them. Very little interplay going on between the front four. Neymar has offered flashes of individual brilliance and the somewhat-less-than-incredible Hulk at least grew into the game yesterday, the rest look anything but assured. Fred is a shadow of the player who bagged five goals in the Confederations Cup last summer and Jo, when called upon, hasn't improved things. Oscar in particular, I expected so much more from. Obviously, someone's got to beat them and nobody has yet, but this is a far cry from the classic Brazilian sides of old.
