SympathysSilhouette Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 More details: Apparently Jenkins walked away out of loyalty to her screenwriter Geoff Johns. Part of the decision for DC Studios (outside of the treatment they did not like) is the fact that if a potential third WW3 goes ahead with this current team, the existing contracts mean they owe Gadot 20 million and Jenkins 12 million. Cult Icon Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 I am almost done with Feast for Crows. I give it a 4 out of 5 compared to 5-6 out of 5 for the first two books and 4.7 out of 5 for the third. Despite its flaws it is still entertaining. The main value of the book is the extensive lore and internal monologues that expand knowledge of many of the characters. However the plot, which was already slow in Storm of Swords ..slows down to glacial pace. In a way it comes across as 'chronicles' of Westeros and has a different tone than the previous books. But it is not as good as the previous 3 books. I can sense that GRRM exhausted most of his best ideas and characters. He becomes very repetitive with the same themes/tropes and doubles down on feminism. This new generation of characters is not as good as the previous one. About 1/4th of the book is soap-opera like content that could have been deleted. The Ironborn and Dorne content in particular is not as good/boring and Cersei's expanded evil eventually gets monotonous. Sam-gilly and Brienne are annoying at this point. Arya and Jaime's storylines continue to be among the best. Quote

I heard none of the Wonder woman films were very good anyway. I have a copy of WW1 and haven't been interested enough to watch it yet. Quote

I'm not that hardcore with the ending lore but I think the whole Dark Souls series has some influence by Dante's Divine comedy. The Divine Comedy has Dante's spirit awaken in purgatory. He then travels to Hell, and then paradise while encountering many tortured or lost human creatures. Once he reaches Paradise, the story ends with a 'breaking of the cycle' and enlightenment. Dark Souls 3 even starts in a similar atmosphere. I think this ending is the breaking of the cycle, and 'the embers' mean the likelihood of an eventual rebirth. What do you think of the ending? Quote

In comics she is typically drawn not as a Greek or Israeli person but more like a northern european one. But later/more modern comics have her looking more like her origin. Quote

Enrico_sw Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 To further my last point, here's an example of what a female journalist could say about a chubby actor, but a male journalist would never say about an actress. You can call this whatever you want, but, in any case, it's just a fact. (BTW this female journalist is cruel and she is ugly on the inside and outside) Quote

Of course there's the "break of the cycle", but what I really like is the idea of rebirth. I love the image of the tiny flames dancing in the dark, ready to be fuelled and give birth to something new. In the end, there's a dark screen, but the Fire Keeper keeps talking to the Ashen One and asks if he still hears her voice, which sounds like a promise for more adventures. That's the ending I chose and it's great IMO. Quote
Enrico_sw Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Miyazaki's team is awesome. I haven't played Elden Ring yet, but when I will, I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun! Quote

Elden Ring has a well written story, with interesting characters. Quote

That's the ending I chose and it's great IMO. It's something about letting a decrepit age go, and restarting anew. So the player makes this choice to not become Lord and continue the cycle. I agree, and it's also completely mysterious as you don't know what's going to happen next. It's up to the player's imagination. There was an indie Dark Souls 3-inspired game that was similar, but it had "ascension" as the final ending. This is what happens at the end of Divine comedy. Here are some images about the beginning of Dante. It's like the beginning of DS3 : Quote

I think of more a classical look, like an ancient appearance. Finished Feast for Crows. Dance of Dragons is supposed to be the 4th best novel by fans. I feel asleep during the first 1 1/2 hrs of the book, which is not a good sign..can't help but feel like GRRM can't maintain the same quality as Storm of Swords going forward. Quote
