Oh then it's not that one  I thought about this layered cake with each layer in a different color

I never had that.  Do the layers taste different or is the different mostly cosmetic?

Me neither but from cooking shows I heard they should have all different taste as well, but I'm not sure.

^

I can only speculate what it tastes like  My guess is that it is not as good because the flavors would probably be diluted into the cake base.  The odd thing about the 7-layer cake is how diverse the bites are.  It feels to be contingent on what buttercream mixture hits the taste buds first.  I've had the cake almost dozen times and I still like it just as much as before.

I find with taste buds that if I eat something tasty for the first time (or very a very long time- I'm talking about years or months) the first course is amazing.  Then the taste buds adjust and the second course (even if 2 weeks later) is still good, but just not as good for some reason.

Do you have the same experience?

I am making a pork bone broth stew with potato, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, onions.

^ it doesn't look tasty at all for me

I just ate a donut filled with cream  Homer Simpson would be proud of me.

My soup looked better than the pictures...  but it was good for a simple soup with a lot of fat and bone marrow flavor..

that being said, I've gained 7 lbs over the past 2 months.  It's largely due to eating a lot of peanut butter, cake, alcohol and  having a lot of big restaurant meals. I just removed peanut butter and cake completely out of my diet and I'm eating a lot more vegetables now instead..

I am going to grill some sausages and vegetables for dinner.

Pork knuckle and pan-fried salmon!

The salmon is amazing and I'm eating it right now. The knuckle was OK and I am chopping it up as leftovers.

I'm on a diet so I can't comment on carbs...ate these with oranges.

edit: cooked the pork knuckle again with meat sauce- tasted 3 times better

Nice!!!!

I just had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen...after avoiding the chain for years.

It's mediocre!  Not a good value either- it's twice the price relative to the pizza quality.

Thin pizza, not much in the way of toppings.

I knew something like this was coming

I like to experiment with fast food and causal dining places just to know that I've been there and for the first time novelty value.

A place I will eventually visit:

Zinburger's business model revolves around serving restaurant burgers/fries with wine.  The liquor menu is pretty extensive. I would take a steak and wine, why burgers and wine?

I have never been to Carl Jr's, Hardees, and many other corporate joints.

I might get a crab cake burger later.  But my diet..lol

one of the best hamburger pictures ever:

Holiday weekend here which means tons of food. Last night was Peking duck wraps and duck pho. Tonight will be the tradition Thanksgiving fare. :chicken:

Nice TDH, I last had that at a proper Chinese restaurant a very long time ago  I like the taste of duck fat!

My family loves excess so Thanksgiving dinner was a 25lb turkey and 15lb prime rib roast and lots and lots of leftovers.
