I see there's going to be a lot of VMA parties in LA this weekend, wonder if he'll attend any. Just odd that so many days have gone by without even a sighting, maybe he's been busy with The Revenant... Not filming but in some other form or another.

i think he might be busy working on preparing the revenant promo but if he is in LA he sure will show up at a party

This "Star Wars" hype is already annoying me :blah:

Disney's reboot will take over Imax’s large-format pioneer's screens for four weeks, knocking out all would-be competitors (Sorry, 'In the Heart of the Sea' and 'The Revenant').

For Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Imax is going big — really big. For the first four weeks of its run, set to begin Dec. 18, J.J. Abrams' sequel will have all of Imax's large-format screens in North America and most of its foreign screens to itself. Imax reserving all of its screens for a single movie for a month is not unprecedented, but it is unusual. The company had a similar deal for the three Hobbit movies, but it struck that pact four years ago and hasn't made that type of commitment since.

In June, Imax broke its own opening-weekend record when Jurassic World leapfrogged over Iron Man 3's $28.8 million to grab $44.2 million worldwide — $21 million from 363 domestic screens and $23.2 million from 443 screens abroad. But Disney's Star Wars could topple that number. It is expected to open on 375 to 400 screens domestically and more than 400 abroad — there's no exact count yet because Imax tends to install and open theaters in the fall. Domestically, Force will play in the commercial chains such as Regal, AMC and Cinemark that house Imax screens as well as most museums and other sites with Imax theaters (which have played space-related Hollywood fare including Gravity and Interstellar). Although he declines to discuss specifics, Imax Entertainment CEO Greg Foster expresses his confidence in the film, saying, "Star Wars: Episode VII is the ultimate crossover movie — it crosses over to everyone." A further factor: Abrams, a fan of the format, has filmed a sequence with Imax cameras to take advantage of the oversized screen.

Rival distributors have resigned themselves to Force taking over Imax screens — and their premium ticket prices — during the holidays. November releases such as Sony's Spectre and Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2, which have Imax dates, will wind down by Dec. 18. Warner Bros.' In the Heart of the Sea, set to open Dec. 11, will get only one week in Imax. Fox's The Revenant, set to go wide Jan. 8, might get a crack at Imax screens by the Jan. 15 weekend. So far, Imax hasn't announced any January bookings beyond a Jan. 29 opening for Disney's The Finest Hours. But if moviegoers really are feeling the force, then Star Wars could dominate Imax screens even beyond that.

First It forced Warcraft to change release date now It take Imax from The Revenant? What a bully.I hope Star Wars underperform at the box office >:(

Margot Robbie talking about working with Chiwetel Ejiofor and than mentions Leo.

Was acting with Chiwetel Ejiofor intimidating?
Yeah! It was right in the midst of the 12 Years a Slave press, so it was a little intimating. And he’s a force to be reckoned with on set. He’s a really powerful actor, really like Leo [DiCaprio]. They both have a screen presence; they’ve very lovely, approachable people, but when you’re doing a scene with them, if you don’t keep up with them, they’ll just roll right over you.

^Nice words :hehe: Thanks!

From Gold Derby, kind of a fun article talking about if Leo ever wins an Oscar, how the Internet will litererally probably break more than Caitlyn Jenner, Kind Kardashian etc. :p :p (which really, when you think about it, is so true. The internet, well, everybody, loves Leo and wants him to get that oscar!) They would need to find a new obsession. :p

Inarritu and DiCaprio: infernal shooting

Two very different beings never resembled both. Leonardo DiCaprio , the Hollywood playboy, and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu , The Black like call this Mexican untamed seem in this moment brothers of different mothers born on both sides of the border who They have reunited in Lantana post-production studios in Santa Monica (California), to show the country's first images of The reborn (The Revenant) his last movie. "A small test universe presents this film," describes the director of a relentless, raw, magical, bloody, poetic images that are very close and, above all, very cold.

"I am sorry and destroy you," he adds with false repentance at the end of the projection of different clips of which we are sure will be many new commitment to Oscar winner last year with Birdman -a theaters and will arrive in January- the others consider the worst experience of their careers. For these brothers in arms is his bond. "I will not deny that filming was long and physically hard, but the reborn is the most vast and profound experience of my life," says the Mexican filmmaker.

The film is inspired by the biography of Hugh Glass, a trapper nineteenth century that survived a bear attack despite being left for dead, abandoned by his companions and buried in snow in the middle of nowhere. A similar odyssey which lived Black and his team almost a year ago when they started filming that took them to the snowy mountains of Calgary (Canada) to shoot in continuity and making only use of natural light. "And what about this for a year and a half beard? Today finally gave me the OK to shave me! "Laughs DiCaprio about his own odyssey as he puffs and Iñárritu give alternatively your electronic cigarettes. Brothers up model nicotine vaporizer.

"We knew that we were embarking on an adventure that would put us to the test and it was. There were times when the weather was so hard that we had no control. The weather gave us the ass. Nothing to do with working in a studio, that I can assure you. However, that is precisely what Alexander told us. Because this is not a story of survival and revenge. Is the inner struggle of a man to find his desire to continue living once lost everything, "explains one of the great stars of Hollywood.

It's the same explanation given Iñárritu explaining his interest in a story that neither the Americans themselves known: "It is not a western because western non-existent. Not even for gold. We are in 1823, a time that lives in the US territory a complicated amalgam of Spanish, newly independent Mexicans and Indians, and where the skins are the currency. "

His interest is closer to what all this might seem, because it also points out the director, as the beginning of an America that is to be established as a commercial power and where capitalism as we know it today began to be implemented in a society that consumes more of what you need and where most work as slaves even without being one. "It is a moment of injustice," he adds, before apostillar: "A moment that remains surprisingly relevant because we have not improved much."

Speaking fun with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu can easily check who is a lover of the challenges. Odyssey, as he calls it. How far man comes in order to survive. Or how far a filmmaker in Hollywood. "Well, think of a cross between John Ford and Tarkovsky" jokes Leonardo DiCaprio again to tease his new brother. "I like the genre but I like to break the rules," the director gives mischievously now has tamed his matted hair with a few strands dyed blond.

"I want to be open and play with genres mind the rules," he adds. So I wanted to shoot in sequence shot, a taboo in any shooting. And agreed with his other brother in arms, cinematographer Emmanuel Chivo Lubezki, when shooting with natural light. "How you going to use artificial light in these places? He was determined to apply what I learned with Birdman, a fluidity that sought by few shots at the right time. It was like a theater always on the edge of failure. "

The first images of The reborn so far seem to fail, but also come surrounded by the complaints of those who stayed behind in a production of 84.4 million euros spent, say, a budget of 120. Those who They left this hell for your foot or dismissed. Stories about hypothermia and unnecessary sacrifices that have made you leave your cave Iñárritu assembly which does not like to be distracted, to defend themselves.

And there is no better defense than their images and the presence of DiCaprio. "The trials were incredibly detailed and Alejandro always very precise about what he wanted. But that's the essence of cinema, able to create something tactile and almost always real, a reality where the viewer is like a fly that is there in the middle of the action, nature, able to create a great epic proportions which in turn is extremely intimate, "summarizes the actor.

Calgary to Patagonia

The sneer is even backlit. In the midst of this conversation about the reborn, Leonardo DiCaprio can not help but make a point to talk about climate change. "This year is the warmest on record, and July, the warmest month of the existing record. We are dealing with three times faster than any scientific anticipated climate change, "said the activist in a moment of seriousness. Far from being a broken record, the actor has lived in the flesh in this western shooting. Leonardo DiCaprio knows of what he speaks. "We shot one day and the next day it was all melted," he recalls. "That also happened to Quentin Tarantino. The ice is melting, "he says in a tone of alarm.

The weather was indeed one of the problems of filming The reborn his biggest handicap, so much so that Inarritu had to leave with his team, about 300 people across the world, the end of the world as they say , to finish the film.

Canadian mountains of Patagonia Argentina to Calgary. Because the tip of the southern hemisphere is the only place where they could find similar snow to Calgary. That and another is not the reason for the shooting was not completed until this August. "This is how you realize the reality. In the microcosm that are destroyed with only one degree of difference. A degree is the difference between water and ice, "explains carefully Gonzalez Inarritu, now an activist in defense of the environment that was so elusive.

Looks like we won't be seeing The Audition commercial/short this coming week after all :(

From: Hollywood Reporter :Venice Film Festival: Martin Scorsese’s 'The Audition' Screening Canceled

Due to "technical problems" the big-budget short will not be in Venice.

One of the more anticipated screenings of the Venice Film Fest has been canceled this year. Martin Scorsese’s short film The Audition will not debut at the festival, as previously planned.

The festival said in a statement: “We have just been informed by the production that due to unexpected technical problems the film could not be here in time.”

Scorsese stars in the film, which has him pitting his frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio against Robert De Niro for a leading role in an upcoming film. Brad Pitt also makes an appearance. Oscar-nominated writer Terence Winter penned the script.

Venice festival-goers were looking forward to potential appearances by the Academy Award-winning director and actors.

The film’s inclusion into the world’s oldest film festival had been seen as controversial by some, as it was produced to promote the opening of Melco-Crown's $2.3 billion Macau Studio City opening and the existing Manila City of Dreams resorts and casinos.

However, Venice director Alberto Barbera had told THR earlier in an interview, “It’s a Scorsese film, not a commercial. The casino paid for the film, but it’s not in the film at all.”

No expense was spared on The Audition. The short film has been rumored to have cost $70 million, with each actor taking home $13 million for the two-day shoot according to Page Six. The casino has denied these figures.

Teasers for the film were released in January this year, one with the actors on location in Manila and one in Macau, but they were quickly taken down.

THR has reached out to a rep for the production for further details.

"technical problems"? Sounds very nebulous to me :idk:

Btw: Am I the only one who thinks the hole Pitt/DiCaprio combo never stood under a good star? I always had a odd feeling about these two (together) Like the hole pitt/clooney/damon holy best friends fraction can't stand Leo secretly ... or maybe I see just ghosts lol

I'd say Leo is slightly taller than average by about an inch or two. He's not very tall and not short. So I don't understand why she thinks he's tiny :p Maybe the girl is just really tall herself. Or he was standing next to someone taller than him. :hehe: Because I've seen so many pics of leo next to taller men and that's when leo looks short, when in reality I wouldn't label him as that. :hehe:

Hopefully this weekend he gets pictured :hehe:

And yes, Leo never struck me as a part of that group of chummy actors you listed.

Fash

As I've mentioned before, having never seen Leo in person I can't speak from my own experience, but a fellow fan I've chatted with for a long time has seen him in person at least 6X , and she has always told me he is between 6-6'1. Her hubby is 6'2 .

To me , at least, that is tall :p

Yes, would be great if we got some new pix this weekend, we were spoiled last weekend with new pix and vids :)

Jade

Could be that Scorsese was due to present the film short, and it wasn't possible for him to do so now , so they just pulled it claiming it was technical

Interview with little boy who plays the younger Hawk in Revenant

th_Isaiah-Leo-Dicaprio.jpg

Great grandson of legend stars alongside Hollywood greats

Acting runs in the family as great-grandson Isaiah Tootoosis of late Gordon Tootoosis had his first experience acting in a big production movie.

Seven-year-old Tootoosis, who was born and raised in Poundmaker, Saskatchewan, got a break of a life time when a casting crew called him up to audition in Calgary for the movie, “The Revenant,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Tootoosis’s mother, Rachel Berland, said when they got the call that he was chosen for the role they were ecstatic.

“Once I told him he was chosen, he screamed with joy. Afterwards we both screamed and jumped around with joy,” said Berland.

It was not until after the audition that Tootoosis decided he wanted to be an actor and become famous when he grows up.

Tootoosis loved everything about the experience and going to Los Angeles to shoot the film.

“It was fun, I made new friends,” said Tootoosis.

His character in the film is “Young Hawk” as DiCaprio’s son.

“He didn’t know Leo was an actor until he came home. He did not really care about whom he was acting with until we put a movie on with Leo in it, his eyes lightened up and instantly, ‘Hey! I know that guy, he’s my movie dad. Boy he’s such a good actor,’” Berland said of her son’s reaction.

When asked how he liked Los Angeles Tootoosis responded, “It was hot.”
