    Gillian Jacobs

Gillian Jacobs Gillian Jacobs (born October 20th, 1982)[1] is an American film, theatre and television actress, best known for her role as Britta Perry on the NBC comedy series Community Jacobs was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. She made her name locally at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. There she was a perennial contender in the Public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest, which led to her being cast as Titania in its production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.[2] After graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School in 2000, Jacobs moved to New York City, New York, to study acting at The Juilliard School, where she was a member of the Drama Division's Group 33. Jacobs's first national exposure came as Adele Congreve on the television series The Book of Daniel. Although she played Kimberly in the television pilot of Traveler, the role was recast when ABC acquired the series. She subsequently made guest appearances on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Fringe. In 2006, Jacobs starred in an Off-Off-Broadway theatre production of playwright Chris Denham's cagelove. While overall critical reaction to the play was negative, Jacobs earned praise in several reviews.[3][4][5] The New York Times advised readers to "make sure to remember the name of Gillian Jacobs, a stunning Juilliard graduate who has the glow of a star in the making".[6] She has also appeared in theatrical productions of The Fabulous Life of a Size Zero (2007) and The Little Flower of East Orange (2008), directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman.[7] Jacobs's film work includes Gardens of the Night (2007); writer-director Adam Rapp's Blackbird (film) (2007); Choke (2008), based on the Chuck Palahniuk novel, and The Box (2009).[8] In 2009, she became a regular on Community. Jacobs comments on it in an interview in Venus Zine's Fall 2010 Issue, "There's an absurdity to the show. We exist in a world in which anything can happen week to week, and that pushes me in so many ways."[9] As of early 2010, the film Watching TV with the Red Chinese was in post-production http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gillian_Jacobs

In naming her as his dream nominee for the "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series" Emmy Award, Austin American-Statesman critic Dale Roe remarked, "This 10-year-old actress was so affecting as troubled Sally Draper last season that it seems odd that she's only just been upgraded to series regular. If Shipka's upcoming Mad Men work—struggling with the broken marriage of her parents and entering preteendom in the tumultuous 1960s—remains as amazing as it was in season 3, this is a ballot wish that could come true next year."[3] Initially a recurring guest star, Shipka was upgraded to a series regular with the start of season 4.[4]

The single has so far peaked at number 5 on the Hot Rap Songs.[38] Minaj's album gained a Platinum certification in the United States a month after the release.[17] On Saturday, January 29, 2011, Minaj appeared on Saturday Night Live as the musical guest. She performed her hit songs "Right Thru Me" and "Moment 4 Life". On February 9, 2011, it was announced that Pink Friday had reached number one on the Billboard 200 in its eleventh week on the chart.[39] Musical style and imageImageIn an interview with Vibe Minaj discussed her sexual image stating, "[w]hen I grew up I saw females doing certain things, and I thought I had to do that exactly. The female rappers of my day spoke about sex a lot... and I thought that to have the success they got, I would have to represent the same thing. When in fact I didn’t have to represent the same thing."[40] In an interview with Interview, Minaj commented on her sexual image again stating, "I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness, I want people—especially young girls—to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that.”[41] Minaj has a tattoo of the traditional Chinese characters "上帝與你常在" (shangdi yu ni chang zai)[42] on her left arm, meaning, "God, you are always with me."[43] Alter egosWhile growing up Minaj was surrounded by constant trouble and fighting between her parents.[44] To escape her real life problems she would create characters and live her life through them.[44] In an interview with New York she stated, “[t]o get away from all their fighting, I would imagine being a new person. "Cookie" was my first identity—that stayed with me for a while. I went on to "Harajuku Barbie", then "Nicki Minaj". Fantasy was my reality.”[44] For her debut album, Minaj created another alter-ego named "Roman Zolanski".[45] She stated that in songs like "Bottoms Up" with Trey Songz it is not Minaj rapping, but instead Roman Zolanski, and claims that Roman is her "twin sister". She claims that she was born inside her, out of rage, and becomes her when she is angry. She has also said 'She is a demon inside her'. Roman has been compared to Eminem's alter ego Slim Shady, and on the song "Roman's Revenge" from Pink Friday, Minaj and Eminem collaborate, using these alter egos.[46] Roman also has a "mother" called "Martha Zolanski",[47] who also appeared on the song Roman's Revenge, with a British accent.[48] Martha appears in the video for "Moment 4 Life" where she appears to be Minaj's magical Godmother. In songs such as "All I Do Is Win (Remix)" it is Minaj rapping.[45] Minaj stated that on her debut album, fans will get to "meet" Nicki, Roman and Onika.[45] On November 18, 2010 Minaj assumed a different alter-ego named "Nicki Teresa".[49] Wearing a colorful scarf around her head, she went around as the "healer to her fans" as she visited them at The Garden of Dreams Foundation at Fuse studios in New York City.[49] Minaj made an appearance on Lopez Tonight on December 6, 2010 and presented a different alter-ego for the Spanish-inspired occasion, named "Rosa" (pronounced Rrrrrosa).[50] InfluencesMinaj has stated that artists who have influenced her musical style include Lil Wayne, Lauryn Hill, Jadakiss, Natasha Bedingfield, Foxy Brown, and Missy ElliottPersonal lifeWhile some songs and interviews have implied that Minaj is bisexual,[53][54] she has said that she does not date nor have sex with women,[55] but added in an interview with Out magazine, "I don’t date men either."[56] In an interview with Vibe she commented, "I just embrace all people of all lifestyles and I don’t tell them they are bad people. And I say girls are beautiful and girls are sexy and they need to be told that, and if they don’t have anyone to tell them that and mean it, I’m gonna tell them that. But I feel like people always wanna define me and I don’t wanna be defined."[57] She reiterated her dislike of being labeled in an interview with OUT, saying: "The point is, everyone is not black and white. There are so many shades in the middle, and you’ve got to let people feel comfortable with saying what they want to say when they want to say it."[56] During an interview in the May 2010 issue of Details, Minaj was asked if she felt hip-hop was becoming more gay-friendly. She responded, "I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so hip-hop is too. But it's harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced, people view gay men as having no street credibility. But I think we'll see one in my lifetime."[54] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicki_Minaj

    Rebecca Black

Rebecca Black (born June 21, 1997)[1][2] is an American teen pop singer who gained worldwide notoriety with her 2011 single "Friday" through the record label ARK Music Factory. The song received negative critical response, with many music critics and viewers dubbing it "the worst song ever."[3][4][5] The negative criticism and use of social media can be credited for Black's notoriety. The music video, uploaded to YouTube, has received over 120 million views[6] including over 2.4 million dislikes as of April 26, 2011, causing Black to gain international attention as a "viral star."[7] Early life Rebecca Black was born on June 21, 1997, in Anaheim Hills, a neighborhood in Anaheim, California.[2] She is the daughter of John Jeffery Black and Georgina Marquez Kelly, both veterinarians,[8][9] and is of Spanish, Italian, Polish, and English descent.[10] An honor student,[2] Black studied dance, auditioned for school shows, attended music summer camps, and began singing publicly in 2008 after joining the patriotic group Celebration USA.[2] Music career In late 2010, a classmate of Black and music-video client of Ark Music Factory, a Los Angeles label, told her about the company.[11] Black's mother paid $4,000 for Ark Music to produce her daughter's music video while the Blacks retained ownership of the master.[9] The single, "Friday," written entirely by Ark, was released on YouTube and iTunes. The song's video was uploaded to YouTube on February 10, 2011, and received approximately 1,000 views in the first month.[2] The video went viral on Friday, March 11, 2011, acquiring millions of views on YouTube in a matter of days, becoming the most-talked-about topic on social networking site Twitter,[12] and garnering mostly negative media coverage.[13] As of April 18, the video had received more than 2.1 million dislikes on YouTube compared to about 290,000 likes.[14] As of March 22, 2011, first-week sales of her digital single were estimated to be around 40,000 by Billboard.[15] Black appeared on the March 22, 2011 episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, during which she performed the single and discussed the negative reaction to it.[16] The song has peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 and the New Zealand Singles Chart at number 58 and 33, respectively.[17][18] In the UK, the song debuted at number sixty-one on the UK Singles Chart.[19] By March 25, Black had hired a publicist and a manager. Her manager confirmed that he has been contacted by songwriters and record labels with ideas for more songs and an album.[20] In an interview with The Sun, Black said that she is recording a new song called "LOL," which is considered for release as a single, and material for her debut album at Flying Pig Productions studio in Los Angeles.[21] However, on her official Twitter account, Rebecca announced that the song will not be called "LOL."[22] At least one celebrity news website reports that no new single is in the works, citing Black's manager saying "Rebecca does not have a new single titled 'LOL.' Just to be clear she does not have any new single recorded at this time." [23] She is currently working without a record deal. She also said that the album would contain songs with themes similar to that of "Friday", as she wants it to be "appropriate and clean."[21] Black teamed up with Funny or Die on Friday, April 1 for April Fools Day (the site was renamed Friday or Die) for a series of videos, including one which addresses the controversy about the driving kids in her music video, stating "We so excited about safety."[24] She has also stated that she is a fan of Justin Bieber, and expressed interest in performing a duet with him.[25] Death threats In response to the YouTube video of "Friday," Black began to receive death threats in late February, specifically by phone and email.[26] While there were a number of negative, and many violent, comments on the YouTube video itself, none of the comments were specific to Black or direct in their threat of violence. These threats are being investigated by the Anaheim Police Department
