Do you follow MLS, Joe? . . . In fact, do you play in the MLS? After all, cursory knowledge of the rules probably grants you passage into the first XI of most teams. :| ;)

Yeah, last night was great. Never a dull moment at Spurs!

Bentley's goal was reminiscent of Nayim's.

Don't be so pessimistic. :cain: Liverpool seem pretty sturdy and have much more depth this season. :)

Tottenham - Liverpool at the weekend. It will be sad to see you undefeated league record disappear. ;)

We look very different to previous seasons, but when we rotate we don't have the depth and that will become apparent sooner or later. I prefer the 4-2-3-1 fomation.

I acutally think Spurs would be in with a shot. Pompey was a bogey team for us when Harry was there and I predict Harry will have that rub on effect with Spurs. And once we lose our season will fall apart :|

First of all, did I really have to open my big mouth? Valencia immediately responded with losing 2 points against Recreativo, and now Arsenal tied against Spurs.

I guess it's time for me to use Eds pessimism tactics. <_<

Anyway . . .

I'm not that scared of Villareal at the moment to be honest. I saw them play against Manyoo in the Champions League but their second string didn't look that strong against Manyoo's second string. It was really only til Cazorla came on that they started to threaten. That being said, they are a strong team, and it should be a good game to watch. I want to see how Pellegrini will react to Emery's tactics

Well, they have a solid defense, the best in La Liga actually. Not that their backline is great, but their midfield helps them a lot, and they don't allow lots of occasions to their opponents (it was so, even in this weeks 4-4 draw with A.Madrid). And they always risk you somehow. Even against Man.U, in a game that they didn't look so strong, they were the side who got closer to the W. They hit the post from like 6 meters, while the best that Man.U was able to do, was trying to shoot from the distance.

Out of the big teams, they are the team, that changed the least from last season, and last seasons games against them were nightmares to me. Pires, Nihat & Rossi are great at moving the ball in the dangerous area, which is exactly what threatens us the most (Braca's frontline may be better, but they are not really pass orientated). Last year in El Madrigal they defeated us 3-0, while having 4 posts, and numerous missed oppurtunities. I'm a big fan of Valencia for years now, and except of 04-05 season, I continously have followed their games, and that game was by far the most desperate I have ever seen them.

Now, I don't want to sound all pesimist, actually I'm pretty optimist about this years games (we just can't be that bad, last year there was really something going on with the team), and hopefully we'll get like 4 or 6 points from direct games, but still, if I'd be given a wild card, to win a game w/out playing it, I'd use it against Villreal.

What do you think of Renan by the way? Do you think he's any good. He has impressed me quite a bit since he started playing.

I like Renan actually, but I'm one (of the few I guess) that actually likes Hildebrand better. There were games last season that I had watched the whole game, and Timo was the reason we didn't get routed, but when watching the short version of the games, or just goals, it usually seemed like he was the only reason we were losing those games, as to be honest he allowed some :banghead: type of goals.

I think our defense is our weak point, but not our Keepers. I have faith in both Timo & Renan. ;)

Also, how do you think we'll fare against the bigger teams? I'm not sure how we'll do because we are talented but at the same time there are things that worry me. Sometimes the attack has a tendency to be too fancy with the ball in the wrong parts of the pitch and you just wonder what will happen when we play against a better defence. Also, our possession play seems a bit mediocre tbh. As for our defence, our backline looked shaky at the start of the season, and even though it is slightly better now, I'm still not sure about how steady it will be against a better attack. It seems like the fullbacks are missing half the time and whenever the ball passes the midfield, we take a long time to recover and reorganise. Also, Albiol and Alexis are quite aggressive and get caught out of position sometimes when they miss the tackle/intercept. I'm worried now :/

As of our offense, I think on paper, we've got 5 world class offensive players (Villa, Moriantes, Silva, Vicente, and Jouaqin). If we have 4, or at least 3 of them on the field (sure with them being like 80%), I don't think we'll have hard time to score. Especially if Silva & Villa are both playing, I'd say we'll have only like 2 games, that we won't be able to score.

Our defense on the other hand,. . . Well,

I don't have anything nice to say

:ninja:

I don't want Villa to go but with the club in financial difficulty and debts to pay after building the Nou Mestalla, I expect the board to take up a good offer on Villa :/

Maybe we shall convince Villa, that there's a spell that curses the argentinian players who play for Valencia, and that his career will have a falldown after he leaves the team. *genius* :woot:

Come to think about it,. . . Ortega :D . . . Claudio Lopez :) . . . Aimar  . . .

:| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| OMG :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :|

The only game that I'd count as choking is the game against Stoke, and every other team actually had a similar or worse choking already.

If they avoid Chelsea this week, they are the #1 candidate to win the title. w/o Torres I'd say the draw is Liverpools gain.

We beat them :woot: but now I fear the backlash at Anfield :ninja:

Yes, and you avoid Portsmouth aswell. I guess Gerrard has decided to care of bussiness all by himself, until Torres comes back.

Now if only they can avoid the Spurs, which likely they will, they are 95% the Winter champs.

Why? Because when I first started to come to the sports threads, it was saying so on your personal info.

Seriously, you are from Sweden right?

If you are not from Sweden, than tell me where are you from!

And the answer better not be Kosova, cause I'll beat your ass with a wierd shaped stick,

just like this :beating:

I am ninja :ninja:

Errmmmm,. . . Nothing that I can't handle smileyassassinsr5.gif

Yeah, Qapello said that he wouldn't use David if he wasn't Qurrently playing in Europe. <_<

Jealous pig.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, . . .

Jealous pig?

How about football genius! :anger:

Seriously, with the current form of Walcott, and Joe Cole, it'd be offense to invite Beckham to the National team, while he doesn't play the game on the top level. And I'm a Beckham fan as well, I'd place him in starting England line up, but he's gotta now, that he's not unreplaceable.

Besides You shall be thankfull. Because of Capello, you'll be able to watch Beckham for a lot more. ;)

I love it, but not as much as golf and table tennis :hehe: . And I don't love it as much as a lot of my family :| :ninja: . But I do admire their footwork and coordination. Some say its a little monotonous and I can understand that  .

I think rugby could possibly pass it on my list, we'll see :hehe: .

It's your optimism that jinxed us inthe first place :avada: :persuazn:

I don't really count last year, we had Koeman. That says it all :|

I like Renan actually, but I'm one (of the few I guess) that actually likes Hildebrand better. I think our defense is our weak point, but not our Keepers. I have faith in both Timo & Renan. ;)

It would've been hard for any keeper to play for us last year, and I thought Timo did really well at times but when the defense doesn't do its job, there's nothing Timo can do :( Doesn't look like Emery likes Timo though. He was trying for Asenjo from day 1 and to make matters worse, Timo abandoned the squad early in the season, so I think Timo will be looking for a move come Winter.

As of our offense, I think on paper, we've got 5 world class offensive players (Villa, Moriantes, Silva, Vicente, and Jouaqin). :ninja:

Our attack has a tendency to play with the ball and they don't seem to hold the ball well at times in the final third, which worries me the most because a better defense might intercept the ball and break fast and lord knows our defence can't cope with much pressure... *gulp*

Come to think about it,. . . Ortega :D . . . Claudio Lopez :) . . . Aimar  . . .

And lets not forget Banega :woot:

Yes, and you avoid Portsmouth aswell. I guess Gerrard has decided to care of bussiness all by himself, until Torres comes back.

Gerrard has been pretty poor/mediocre actually since he came back from internationals, but he's always like that after major tournaments and internationals.

Spurs are on the up and Redknapp will prove an obstacle. I foresee a draw :|

Errmmmm,. . . Nothing that I can't handle smileyassassinsr5.gif

Bring it! :knives:

:persuazn:

Back down to earth with a bump this week after the derby win - losing to Stoke on Wednesday night and an exercise in damage limitation to come tomorrow at Stamford Bridge. If only one of our players could have crushed Delap's fingers during the customary pre-match handshake, we could have avoided losing at the Britannia. ;)

Delap! . . . His throw for Fuller's goal. :| It was like a bullet.

:ddr: :ddr: :ddr:

Great day; Harry does it again! . . . What a difference a week makes in football!! Wins against Bolton and Liverpool and a great comeback against Arsenal. :D

Sorry Ed, you really were robbed. :|

Delap does it again.

Robbed? No. Congrats to Spurs :D Looks like you guys will be competing at the top end of the table if you keep this form up.

and Delap did it twice! :o

I told you Tottenham would be trouble for us, but nobody listened

and Valencia lost as well at the Mestalla <_<

Robbed? No. Congrats to Spurs :D Looks like you guys will be competing at the top end of the table if you keep this form up.

Ed's pessimism taQtiQs!?!?! u made me laugh, sucka!
