Exactly. This whiny mess will never end

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Every time I see new sketches or fittings, it reminds me how many VS show outfits I use to sketch myself. For this year I would have the overall theme "Fantasy". The segments would be: 1. Steampunk (rather dark, metallic and mysterious segment) 2. European folklore (each outfit basically represents one of the tales of the Grimm brothers) 3. Kissed by a muse (inspired by the 9 muses of Greek mythology) 4. 1001 nights (inspired by middle-eastern fashion. Basically how "exotic traveler" could have turned out) 5. Fairy tales (the actual segment by Victoria's Secret had some outfits far better than my ideas; gotta revise my ideas) 6. Written in the stars (something like "heavenly bodies")

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
well who can blame the girls for saying they love the outfits when the designers are right in front of them? I find it over the top though whenever they start crying. PS: That board which lists all models names who have ever walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is not even complete. I bet they did their research on Wikipedia because that list misses names that are also not on the wiki-list....

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
I don't know about Lais in that outfit, but I guess Sophia (or whoever gets to choose which model should wear which outfit) thought she might fit that outfit best. I guess that's also the very factor for casting the girls. It's not always about who's the prettiest but also finding the right girl for the outfits. And since they do have ridiculous outfits they would choose a not-so-hot model for it. I bet that's the very reason why Dorothea was cast in 2012 because they needed a model to wear that stupid toy outfit. So VS is not (always) blind with their castings.

yeah I had same thoughts about possible backlash too but I can't recall any for the exotic traveler segment, so they should be fine with this one as well (?) Sara's outfit could might as well be in the Angel Ball-segment but it's still smoking hot. PS: yeah I remember reading the warning from Pink but it was indicated that you've made insensitive remarks on that subject before.

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
and after reading through 100+ pages: Weird that people thought veterans like Sui He were newcomers LOL at some complaining about that the fb is not an actual bra with crystals on 'em cause that's what people had complained about when VS started doing that. and *facepalm* whenever I read the word "nepotism" being used when talking about the Hadids and Kendall. Look a word up before spreading it. It would be correct to use the word with Megan Puleri (I'm not encouraging shit because that girl receives enough hate).

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
So there might be 50+ girls in this year's show... this is what happens when you can't get it right. There are too many veterans and too many random choices. I would have axed Barbara F, Devon, Constance, Flavia, especially Izabel, Leomie, Lily D, Liu Wen, Sanne (hell even some of the Angels and Rachel Hilbert) and probably half of the newcomers but I'm not gonna judge since they haven't walked the show. I think it's obvious that they asked Liu back because of the far east-theme of the first segment which makes the VS team look kinda ignorant since there's a new wave of Asian models that they could choose from (Cong He, Luping Wang, Estelle Chen, Yue Han etc.) and they still use the one before. Huge yes for Irina Shayk! but I also think that it comes a bit late to cast her now (that's so VS though). She's definitely someone VS missed out on. She and Bar Refaeli could have been the two big stars of VS after Adriana and Ale.

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
The location for the show looks really beautiful. The glass ceiling. The golden stairs. They got something nice venue to begin with. The outfit designs look interesting but they really seem to be out of ideas for completely new themes as most of them have been used before. "The road ahead" looks really inspired by fashion of the far east... in 2006, they had the idea for an "Asian" theme before but it got scrapped... wonder if they're using the sketches from back then. I wasn't checking out all the girls from the casting list but Noel Berry stood out to me. I hope Solveig gets cast. I got my eyes on that girl for a while. Gizele Oliveira would also be perfect for VS.

Ed posted on Twitter or whatever that Doutzen had a big job opportunity in Europe and that her team asked for her to be released from her VS contract.

I don't understand why you'd think it's not beneficial because it's 100% beneficial. Establishing a new face is always easier with a known face. In the beginning most people might go to an event to see the known face but get introduced to the new face at the same time. That's how you put the limelight on a new face - let them share it with a veteran, so they can get used to it and handle it by themselves later on. How do you think did Adriana or Heidi get so big? Because they got their fair share of attention which was drawn from veterans and used it properly to expand their own brand.

Found some interesting pics: Abbey Lee was considered to wear Miranda's "ballet de fleur"-outfit and Liu Wen was not the first Asian model to hit the VS runway. Way back then, in 1996, there was an Asian model walking the VS show. I'm not sure if it's Ling Tan, but I'm quite sure it is.

That means no more VS swim specials.... I couldn't care less. And one day the Victoria's Secret mainline will close in favor to focus on PINK only .

It would be funny if Candice and Behati left VS earlier than Ale and Adriana. If the reports are correct about how far they're along with pregnancy, Candice and Behati will make it to this year's show though. I'm wondering when VS will fall so hard that they won't televised their show anymore. Will they still have a show or completely drop it?

I'm really not much of a VS-fan anymore. I really didn't care to immediately look for the swim special after it was aired. I watched it just now because as a VS fan (more or less) you still give it a try but this is really as brainless as tv shows can get. It's actually the unneccessary clips in between the fashion show segments meet trash reality tv. I couldn't finish watching it. I don't care following the careers of the Angels much because most of them don't interest me. I'll only follow some of the Angels' careers and the fashion show. I don't wanna spread negativity but this is what happens when you disappoint a fan.

I think it's a flop because most people don't even know who they are or can barely tell them apart. And some exposure will always come with working with such big brand like Victoria's Secret but having 50k followers on IG doesn't indicate you're a household name and THAT'S the real deal - when even people who are not interested in fashion/models know who you are and none of the 10 new Angels is close to that position (I see Sara kinda getting there though). And I call it a flop move also because VS can't keep Adriana forever. They should get up their asses and groom someone worthy to be her successor and there solution is to hire 10 Angels at the same time? It's impossible to put the spotlight on 10 Angels (well you can but you won't get much impact outta it). As long as you're not a household name or close to that position you failed to leave your mark and ultimately as an Angel and you're prone to that when you have to share the spotlight with so many other aspiring Angels.

The Official Victoria's Secret Thread
VS marketing might be good at updates and exposure on their products and events, but what sucks big time is how they've handled the Angel-brand for the last couple of years. They have done horrible mistakes in the past with hiring some of the most random spokesmodels, and the biggest flop was the decision to hire 10 angels at the same time. With interesting spokesmodels you can move products but in that department VS has failed miserably. Who's going to care for forgettable spokesmodels + when there are too many of them as well? If VS would have been as good as marketing their Angels like they used to, many current Angels wouldn't even be Angels. In case of Lais - if she was around 10 years ago, I guess she would have gotten the same treatment like Oluchi.

The Official Victoria's Secret Thread
The general interest has diminished but with the right publicity, models still can become household names like Kate Upton or Irina Shayk have proven. If VS pulled their strings on the right girls the right way then the whole Angel-concept wouldn't have become the joke it has turned into. How delusional do you have to be to believe that Chanel Iman, Karlie, Lindsay and then contracting 10 girls at the same time will be worthy successors? So now VS desperately cling on their big stars Adriana and Ale because they messed up grooming worthy successors. I can see Candice in that position but her fame is kinda bubbling under the surface and she needs just one big thing to finally break into mainstream. The development of the Angels is.... just sad.

The Official Victoria's Secret Thread
I find it very sad that someone like Ed turned from hiring the most amazing Angels like Tyra, Gisele, Heidi &Co. to hiring the most mediocre Angels you can only imagine. I don't know what's going on in his weird mind. The Angel-thing has become such a mess thanks to him. The best thing is to release all the Angels and start all over again with a complete new Angel-cast consisting of 5 Angels. That's enough. Hire some other models for a campaign or two to mix it up but don't hire every single model to become an Angel that you just currently have the hots for. Very bad planning on their behalf. Very, very bad. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

2016 SI Swimsuit
Saw Ronda's cover first and I immediately thought this gotta be a hoax (unfortunately it's not). Don't like it when non-models steal a model's job. Especially one with so much exposure. And then they couldn't even give it to a strinkingly beautiful non-model (meh). Not a fan of Ashley's cover either. I find it boring to promote "normal" as beautiful. Hailey's cover is, without a question, (relatively) the best because the other covers are so bad. If Hailey's cover was the only one this year, people would have been way more critical with it. All in all: Three covers - three chances to make it right and they failed in all three cases. All models are such random choices. And the comment about SI loving them all as long as they come in white is unfortunately so true.

The 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
It's always the same old thing that we all wish the old days to come back but when vs puts on this kind of weak show like the 2015 show, then you can't help but wonder how the vs people can let this kind of mess happen. Especially considering that most of these people were responsible for the 2005 show as well. The weak points of this year were most definitely too many random girls and not so stellar outfits. The only newcomer i would like to see next year is Bridget malcolm. Her cheeky smile was perfect for PINK plus she's a hottie. Not much positive things to say then. I agree that make-up and hair looked bad (adriana and shanina looked so tired). I hate those drag queen poses (daniela, leomie, cindy - wtf??). Rachel hilbert was so annoying to watch - show some poise for God's sake. It bothers me a lot that she's the PINK spokesmodel because her chances to become a VS angel in the future is technically a sure thing. ????

The 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
just watched the show and honestly the best part was when they showed Gisele, Heidi and Tyra wearing the fb in a retrospective I tried to figure out what it really is that makes the show feel different now and it's actually everything. The music, the lighting and the poses of the models used to create this mysterious vibe that made me feel in awe of the whole production (the somber tone of the "fairy tale"-segment from last year brought something of that vibe back). And all these parts have changed. The live performances and the standing crowd makes it too vivid. The lighting is too bright and the models make the most ridiculous poses ever (thx to Adriana, Leomie and especially Daniela, whose body apparently got possessed by the spirit of a drag queen, the show experienced another downfall). "Boho psychedelic" was a weak segment to start the show with and a strong segment has proven to be important for the overall impression. I didn't like the 2011 and the 2013 show that much because of the weak opening segments and this year, "Boho psychedelic" is the first-ever segment to make me wonder when it's going to end. It felt so long. Considering that we can FORGET to ever have several mash-ups and remixes as runway music, imo the music this year was great. All songs had a good beat to walk the runway. Weirdest thing is that they didn't mention a word about that this year marks the 20th anniversary show. Good old VSFS days, R.I.P.

The 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Completely agreed. People complain about her in 'high fashion', they complain about her in catalogue work, they complain about her for Sports Illustrated. Can she have something? I do feel like she'd capitalise on Angeldom as soon as it's a possibility because it's always been her ultimate goal, but it's fair they might hold off on it, especially with the newest angels. Also very true about a late-stage Karlie career. I mean, +1 to both paragraphs. As for this It may also be a matter of convenience. I'm not up on American morning shows (I don't even know who those two people are and a cursory google search has told me nothing of importance) but if they film in Los Angeles, like I assume they do, it's there or NYC, that's where Gigi lives. I mean, LA is, though I'm fairly sure she still has a flat in NYC even though Parsons is on hold. And naturally, some of it would be publicity. She's a news item. I was comparing notes with a friend in America and we both had two days last week were she was a trending topic on Facebook. And one of those days she was trending for two different things. We've known from the beginning what she brings to the table so it's natural she'll be promoting it. I wouldn't be surprised if they had her host a viewing party, frankly, now that they've brought her back into the fold. Edit: Rereading this I sound rather irritated so I apologise, it's just tiring to go through this whole cycle of deserving-ness (of shows, of shoots, of wings, of tv appearances) every time her name comes up. Exactly it's tiring to read this whole silly thing about "deserving or not". It's already silly to use the word "deserve". Imo i think people are super picky with gigi and especially kendall because of their family background with all this reality tv-crap. For your information, this is what their family wanted and as members they got thrown into this. It's very hateful to discredit their achievements by saying their families fame brought them their success. It might be true that it has opened a lot of doors but their fashion career would have been long over if they didn't show professionalism in this business.

The 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
There are definitely SI girls that can walk however like Emily DiDonato, Irina Shayk.. And HF models who are more 'sexy' Edita Vilkeviciute, Toni Garrn, Maryna Linchuk, etc that they don't cast anymore. That's why I specifically used the word "generally", and still someone had to give a smart-ass comment
