  1. I really don't like the editing. They should tell Hamish (the director of the show) to fucking get his job right. He said that he does the in-between shots when the models walk because he thinks it gets dull to only see models walking one after another. It might get repetitive to a certain extend, but first: this is a fashion show and second: it doesn't mean that he has to squeeze in so many in-between footage, so we barely see the models' walk. Personally, I can't stand when before the first girl reaches the end of the runway, the camera has already shown the third girl walking the runway... and obviously the second model and the performer and the performer again, and again and again... it's too much. And the editing of the posing also sucks. On one take you'd see a model about to put her hands on her waist and then it cuts to a shot where she's blowing a kiss. Things that obviously don't fit. Amateur editing at its best.... and that from a professional... WOW! And what's with the constant stupid switching of the segments? When "Nomadic Adventure" is the last segment of the show, then keep it that way. Poor Ale - she got robbed of her closing walk. I'm waiting for the day when they edit a model from one segment into another. The music-part: well, just like the editing - always reliable to prevent the show from being a great one. This time I only liked Miguel's "Told you so" and Jane Zhang's medley. And they did it again: They managed to design a messy PINK-collection but making a great music choice for that segment. And filming the show two times has become pointless. I thought they did it, so if a model messes up her walk, they still have the other walk to choose from but yet they showed Ming's fall. But I guess they waited a long time for a model to fall. Behati, Jessica and KK teased them with almost falling but Ming finally gave it to them. PS: Sara's and Nadine's outfits in winter's tale-segment inspired me to design a segment collection with an Inuit-theme.
  2. The first show was a real mess. Idk if you know this but the Etam show also has segments and in the first segment there was a constant traffic of models at the end of the runway. There were a lot of models with bodies unsuitable for lingerie and with some of the most terrible sexy poses (that's when you realize VS does have a standard with their model choices). The stage of the first show is pretty much the one of this year's VS show. Their collection is kinda like VSFS ca. 1998-2001 - it has costumey elements but it still more lingerie than costumes. Etam has improved over the years though but you can tell the production doesn't come with a VSFS budget and the editing of the etam show is the worst. Some outfits are not even shown because the camera would focus on the performer or another model just walking out.
  3. ok... now it really looks like a Etam show to me. The little footage of "Nomadic Adventure" gave me the only typical VS vibe. The catchy music by Miguel, the setting with the pillars, Adriana's walk (not pose, just walk). God, what a mess. I hate it when the wrong people get to design such a big show. They should appreciate their job more. I read several comments asking did really no one saw the mess that they were putting together.... maybe they were, but it would have been too late to throw everything over board and start from scratch and they were most definitely not going to call off the show.... or they were seriously under the impression that their designs were amazing. well well well.
  4. Personally speaking, the 2014 show was the last great show they've put together. The 2015 show was really not good with its unoriginal and poorly-executed themes. The 2016 show was a bit better (Bright Lights Angels was actually a very good segment). I'll have to watch this year's show first before I can really judge the show but this year the show reminded me of the Etam show which is a compliment to Etam but not to VS as the VS show must have a much bigger budget than the Etam show but quality-wise it looked similar. And Olivier had a super duper opportunity when VS gave him a whole segment to design outfits for and he messed up the opportunity. The outfits don't catch the VS aesthetics at all. The outfits are not outstanding. Too ordinary.
  5. I really don't know what it is but the more details an outfit has, the tackier it gets. John Galliano used to do over-the-top outfits for Dior all the time but they still had a sense of fashion to them while the current VS designer team tends to fail at that most of the time and end up producing costumey outfits. "A winter's tale" has the same theme like John Galliano's FW09-collection and there you can see the difference. Anyway, it's just some pictures, but so far I'm not into one single outfit. I think the PUNK segment looks HIDEOUS! It literally looks like ripped clothing trying to be held together with safety pins. "Tough love" was so much better. The "Goddesses" collection looks rather weak. The models look like they got lingerie on with silk cloth being randomly wrapped around them. "Glamour goddesses" was so much better. And "Nomadic Adventure" is like the fusion of "The road ahead" and "Wild things". So much intricacy but yet so tacky-looking. I don't get it. I like Maria's outfit though. Now the editing better be super duper good.
  6. that's why I think former Angels should not walk the show anymore. It's awkward to see them being in the starring role as Angels and then somewhere in the background as past-Angels. Guess some past Angels don't know their place and keep posing with the Angels. Best example: Izabel
  7. well in all fairness, you would have to mention that the sunflower dress was a symbol to support Taiwan's demand to become independent. If you leave that crucial detail out, it sounds like China banned Katy Perry for wearing a sunflower dress alone and that's not true.
  8. This year seems to be the new record of recycling themes. Nomadic Adventure recycles 2016's The road ahead Goddesses recycles 2008's Glamour Goddesses PUNK recycles 2010's tough love A winter's tale sounds like another winter-y segment á 2006's Glacial Goddesses, 2013's Snow Angels or 2015's Ice Angels Millennial Nation is PINK Don't know what to "Porcelain Angels" is supposed to be.
  9. oh god the nepotism-talk about Aiden was funny. Might as well make a quiz about it. What's Monica to Aiden? A) she's her godmother B) she's her mother in law C) she's her mother D) she's her stepmother Fun fact: Aiden auditioned for last year's show and was rejected.
  10. Just read the pagesix-article about Katy Perry being banned from China and it also reads that Maroon 5 were banned from China once because one of the band members had sent birthday wishes to the Dalai Lama on Twitter. Well, after reading this I'm not surprised anymore that Gigi would be banned for squinting her eyes. I also find it interesting that the video was filmed in February but wasn't released till the VS show was just around the corner. Bella knows how to sabotage careers
  11. I wouldn't give too much shit about online uproars like this either because social media is THE place of negativity. One person just needs to write something shitty and then the next person jumps on the bandwagon and with each comment, the content gets more and more insulting because people get obsessed about having something to talk about and the next comment always needs to top the one before. And since it's anonymous, people feel free to run their mouths. So it is the typical case of something got blown out of proportion. Too bad for Gigi and besides her - too bad for all the other girls who weren't issued a visa. Must suck to get cast for the show of your dreams but then getting held back by a rejected visa.
  12. I wasn't indicating at all that I wanna choose what people should be offended by or not. But I find it clearly over the top to pull the racist card on Gigi, and I really can't stand people when they blow things out of proportion. What card are they gonna pull if someone really does something racist? Get what I mean? And no, I'm not a Gigi-fan. I'm talking as a matter of principle. Could have been any other model. and what about Bella? What did she do or was she the one who filmed it? Then she should have been denied a visa too because she was an accessory to this BIG CRIME lol
  13. God, give me a break. She imitated the face of the buddha-statue she was given to. That's not making fun of anything. That's what's called being too sensitive about shit and then take it to social media - home to the full-time naggers.
  14. I'm pretty sure Heidi didn't get anything big because she just had had her baby before the 2009 show and just two years before they dedicated a clip to her already. If she wasn't post-preggers, she maybe would have ended up with Doutzen's closing outfit.
  15. Yeah, when you come to think of it, they were quite stupid for choosing China as the show location. It does come with extra restrictions and regulations and it's NO SECRET but yet they went for China. And the funniest part of it all is that every show is held in a venue where you can't even tell in which country the show is being held. So going through so many difficulties for something that doesn't specifically needs to be held in China is just stupid. *frown*
