I must disagree. I think Alessandra ages far better than someone like Adriana whose fading beauty is being sugarcoated. Adriana's jaw has broadened over the years which makes her look quite masculine. And her poses are too goofy imo. Alessandra always keeps it classy. When both opened "Exotic traveler", you had the direct comparison and Alessandra outshone Adriana.

That's what I'm saying. No one seemed to like Dorothea and Maud getting cast but then when you think of the outfits they got... Remember that stupid outfit Dorothea got in the 2012 show? I also wouldn't know whom to cast for that mess. I guess they went for Dorothea because she got something awkward about her. Who would you cast for the show then? I'm pretty sure if they kept the numbers of models to a minimum of 20-30 girls like they did 10 years ago, they could still have a strong cast (like they did 10 years ago).

that's what a lot of people don't consider. They just think of the prettiest picture of their favorite model and then get angry about that they weren't cast (while bitching about why other less pretty girls were). I always wondered why no-brainers (for me) like Lauren Layne or Senait Gidey were never cast and then I realized it's because Lauren Layne's casting walk was awful and Senait wasn't in her best shape (let's put it that way). And next time when a Dorothea or a Maud get cast and a Maryna, a Joan or a Isabeli not, it's because they need girls to wear the especially ugly outfits.

I imagined all of these four outfits to be in a middle eastern-inspired segment called "1001 Nights" (even before "Exotic traveler" happened) but thanks to Sophia, I realized that I was doing the same thing like her - squeezing different cultural attires in one segment which comes across as quite ignorant. Could be that I split them to different segments. I only posted four of twelve outfits for that segment and they are all over the place... some look Egyptian, some Turkish, some Arabic (like Tunisian, Moroccan) and some even Balkanian (which is not even middle eastern ). The outfit atop is from a segment called "Kissed by a Muse" and is pretty much inspired by ancient Greek fashion. Each outfit represents one of the nine muses and since each muse was attributed to an art, each outfit has an respective item. The one atop represents the muse Urania. Since she's the muse of astronomy, the item to the outfit is a little globe.

I'll never understood why people would become so furious about Victoria's Secret not leaking more info before the show. Where's the excitement when you're already know every single damn thing? The fact that we pretty much know the entire model line-up is already a big spoiler. As for Sophia, I think she also deserves some credit. I commend her for supporting new talents by giving them the freedom to design pieces in order for them to develop their own skills. However, I think some talents didn't deserve to be given such honorable support. Anyone remember the girl who was pretty much left in charge of the design for the 2013 PINK section? Horrible collection. It was terrible... even for PINK's standards. Idk for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if that girl isn't part of the team anymore. I know Sophia annoys the heck out of a lot of people with her "segment recycling"-syndrome but it's not true that she always works with the same people. They just introduced a new wing maker in the 4th part of "the road to the runway"-series (the one who did the wings with the golden birds). It's also not entirely true that she lets the talents do whatever they want. In the end they have to present their pieces to Sophia (and for some reason also to Monica... as if she's a designer too ) and if Sophia doesn't approve, they would have to work on it till she likes it. So she does have a vision. It's just she's more open-minded to cooperative work which is another good thing about her. One thing that Sophia should leave alone though is to let cultural attire inspire her. "Exotic traveler", "Boho psychedelics" and "The road ahead" had similar accessories and all three segments were not good and ended up becoming too custom-y than fashion. I think the fact that the latter two segments were opening segments in 2015 and 2016 respectively were the reason why I would rate the last two year's show as weak.

One could think that it's not necessary to hold the show in different places because the show always takes place in an inside venue - so who can tell the difference if it's New York, Los Angeles or Paris? But it's the media coverage around the whole event that makes the fashion show a great medium to promote VS. They have received more attention by the Chinese media which they wouldn't have gotten if the show wasn't held in Shanghai this year. And I really, really don't think the show would get better if they saved money on going global annually. Even if the expenses meant a budget cut for making the outfits, I'm pretty sure it's still a big budget. Overall I don't even think it's a money problem but how they spend it. It doesn't matter what kind of fabric you use - if the design of an outfit is rubbish, then it's rubbish. It doesn't matter how talented a singer is - if the song doesn't suit the runway, then it doesn't suit the runway. It doesn't matter how many models you book - if they don't have the body to sell lingerie, then they don't have the body to sell lingerie.
