Wow those look amazing. I think she may look a lot better in motion at the VS show compared to the flash pictures we've gotten so far. These were taken without flash and it shows.

To be quite honest with you I don't think that's a realistic career option. I'm not against models turning into actresses (Cara seems to working her way up) but Doutzen, from what I've seen of her acting so far anyway, isn't a natural actress. If she really wants to make it work she's going to have to take acting classes, and a lot of them. So far, her name and good looks have landed her a few small parts where she mostly stands around looking pretty. That's all she will be getting if she doesn't work hard and show some talent. Also, in the modeling world, she's basically a veteran already. In acting she'll be competing against a lot of schooled actresses who want the same parts. As for her modeling career, I don't think it's over yet, but she does seem to have a somewhat early midlife crisis. Just last year she was talking about being old for modeling at her age and these new comparison pics seem like a somewhat desperate way to prove that she's still got it. I don't think she should worry so much: her face and body are still on point (and I think if her hair was a more natural hue of blonde, she'd look even better.) But if she wants to keep going, maybe it would be good to stop drawing attention to the fact she's not in her twenties anymore. Then again, maybe I'm reading too much into it; maybe she's just enjoying time off to spend with her family.

She's knocking it out of the park. I really don't get why they haven't signed her yet. Most of the new angels kind of look like kids trying to be grownups in their VS shoots. Not because they're young, but because they simply don't seem to know how to pose. I haven't been impressed by VS photoshoots in a long time, but Josephine looks hot as hell here.

True true and to be fair to her, in the past she really could trust others to do the makeup, etc. for her, so it's not surprising she kept that mindset. And one of the reasons I like her so much is because she's not obsessed with herself like so many others are. For some of these girls, posing for Instagram is almost a fulltime job. Adriana makes snaps of herself when she's in the gym and her skin is ruddy from the workout and makeup free. I know it annoys a lot of people but someone who has been branded as the most beautiful woman for years and years and who makes her living through the way she looks, you'd expect them to have an ego the size of jupiter. And Adriana doesn't. She's humble and carefree and unfortunately she's got to pay for it because some people can't do their damn jobs properly. She shouldn't have to be good at makeup. That's where makeup artists are for. Anyway I'm gonna stop ranting, but yes, I was pretty underwhelmed with the VSFS this year. *EDIT I also have a theory on why she wasn't so energetic this year: A huge dam in Brazil broke this month, resulting in massive floods that could have consequences for years to come: Could be that her head wasn't in the game because of that.

I hate to say it but I agree. Especially if you compare this to her presence on the VSFS in 2005 the difference is stark. Now I know I can't expect her to look like she did ten years ago, but her runway walk was so solid back then and the HQ pictures looked great from every angle. Right now she looks like she's in between expressions/poses all the time. Like the photographer snapped either too early or too late, if you get what I mean. She's still gorgeous, but she seems to have lost interest (and who can blame her). That said, I think if she would fire her stylist, makeup artist and hairdresser and got people who actually know what they're doing, she'd look sooo much better. She trains her ass off every year and they somehow manage to make her look pale, make her hair look flat and sorta frizzy and her makeup just dull. Hell, I could do better. And I'd do it for free. Like, put her in a tanning booth, give her a subtle smokey eye and put some proper curls in her hair. She's still got it. I mean, look at this picture: And then look at the picture in your avatar. There's got to be ten years between when those pictures were taken, but it could have been a few weeks. That's on point makeup. That's what they should be putting on her. I don't get how they manage to keep dropping the ball. Last year they completely messed up her face by overarching her eyebrows. Like who the F even thought that was a good idea. And this year....well. I mean, she doesn't look bad. But for something they spend an entire year prepping for, they could have done SO much better.

Those bangs are godawful. If they have to use fake ones for a shoot, at least try to make them look like you didn't tape them on her head. Also it would help if all of her hair was straightened. The fact her selfies still look acceptable despite this is an accomplishment. Go Alexandria lol

Right! I think she is way better in HF (althought i love her in VS) and i also hate how much hate she gets by the VS fans, they judge her too much and I'm sure she reads it That could be a good thing. Sure, there are definitely people who feel threatened by her beauty and write her off because of that, but I highly doubt that's the main reason she's been getting flak. Truth is, Tay's recent behavior doesn't make her all that likable. And likability goes a long way. For example, I was really impressed with Cameron Russell's ability to recognize her luck and privilege as a white fashion model. She knows what got her so far and she acknowledges it. Of course, she's also 8 years older than Taylor and her career hasn't quite blown up the way Taylor's has, but Taylor is still so naive at this age that I wonder if she'll ever get that far mentally. I guess the problem with Taylor is that she didn't just win a prize in the genetic lottery; she won the jackpot. I mean, look at this candid picture. Her face is perfect, or for as far as there is such a thing as perfection. She's naturally skinny and has good proportions. And she has had a minimum amount of obstacles in her modeling career. So we basically have a girl who's got everything going for her. Add a vapid boyfriend who is too old for her, a minimum amount of education and a massive ego, and you get a girl who is gorgeous, arrogant and...a bigot. She buys into her own hype and she genuinely believes she's better than everyone else. Which, when you're in a business that revolves around the way you look, could be right. Still, an attitude adjustment couldn't hurt. And if some crit on the internet gets those gears in her head working, I'm all for it. Adriana Lima in her heyday was just as gorgeous as Taylor is right now (though in a completely different way) and Adriana is definitely not known for her intelligence. She is however humble, expressed gratefulness for her chances and she never badmouths other people in public. It's hard to hate on someone like that and Adriana is still one of the most popular models despite being past the industry's 'expiration date' agewise. Taylor could learn a thing or two from her. So don't feel sorry for the girl for having to wade through some shit on the internet. I hope she comes across some of the more sensible stuff and starts thinking a bit. I'd hate to see her sabotage herself in the long run.

@Clauds: okay stupid question but who do you mean by Spanky. Anyway, aside from some questionable newcomers I think the line-up looks pretty good. I'm kinda sad Bregje got overlooked, but I guess she isn't cute enough for the image VS is trying to create these days. Blanca Padilla would have been great to see as well.

Telling her as a birthday surprise would be special treatment. Why would they do that for a model that's not part of their core ensemble. More likely that they were on the fence about her and made a last minute decision.

Tbh I'm very surprised Kendall got cast at the last minute instead of Jourdan. Like they say, where there's smoke, there's fire. I definitely think there could be some truth in what they said, that VS switched out a black model for a white girl who got her modeling career handed to her on a silver platter by her family. Money matters. And attention matters. I get why they picked Gigi; she has a body that's fit and VS gets to pat their own back for casting a curvy model (even tho Gigi is thinner than most girls in real life). Kendall might be prettier, but in a more conventional way and there are plenty of brunettes that can give her a run for her money (Blanca Padilla for example). The only reason they cast her is because of the extra press. I wonder how well VS is doing these days. I hardly shop at their website anymore because their lingerie is too expensive and I have more choice in styles (for lingerie as well as general clothing) at other sites for way less.

If they won't cast her because of that it says a lot about who they are as a company. VS probably had to put up with a lot from their models over the years; after all, wisdom comes with the years and whenever models get to an age where they start to become sensible, VS replaces them with a new can of youngsters with zero life experience. Said youngsters get instantly famous (or worse, they already are) and that's when you see egos inflate like balloons and partying getting out of control. (You can already see it happen with Taylor Hill. That girl is positioned to be the next big thing and at she already believes she's better than everyone else.) Anyway, VS has probably been through whole cycles of this happening with their crops. If they let some refreshing candor scare them away from hiring Blanca, they're out of their minds IMO. When I first saw an interview with Blanca, I thought she was older than her actual age, not because she looks older, but because she comes across as much more sensible and intelligent than her peers. I'm not saying she's mature for her age, because that phrase alone makes me roll my eyes, but she's definitely ahead intellectually. If that's gonna cost her, well, I hope that at least she's proud she didn't let herself be turned into a puppet for the industry.

To illustrate: I was once scouted as a model when I was 17. I was struggling with anorexia at the time but I figured it could be a good opportunity so I went to the casting agency. Keep in mind that by then I'd completely lost my period (I hadn't had one for a full year) and I was sustaining myself on a 'diet' of max 400 calories. I also exercised a lot. They booked me but told me I had some weight left to lose. That's when I knew I could never be a successful model because in order to fit the requirements I'd have to turn my body into something it's not and I'd probably manage to kill myself in the process. Of course there are lots of naturally thin girls, but like Padilla said, even when you're super thin for regular people to start asking you whether you're eating enough, the industry's standards are messed up to the point that even girls with the metabolism of a flight engine have to lose weight. Also good comment about Gigi. I like Gigi but no doubt about it that her name and fame opened doors for her that would stay shut for others in the same position. I hope Blanca makes it far.

Wow she's super hot. Also really knows how to work her body and face in shoots. But while I like the blonde on her, I think her eyes might look more striking if she went a little darker. Anyone agree?

Her facial expressions are a combination of sleepy and annoyed, but she's definitely pretty.

I didn't like her much at first, but I gotta say that these days she comes across as effortlessly cool. Less polished than the other models, and it makes her stand out in a good way. Those last few shoots are amazing.
