If anyone call pull this off, it's Villeneuve.

My teeth still grind at the memory of Wor Al's "we'd have nothing to talk about in the pub afterwards" argument against the use of video technology in the game, but he is mad keen on Newcastle and therefore, perhaps deserves more sympathy than most.
  3. I feel like this is being treated as a Suicide Squad 'do-over' of sorts, because despite that movie's undoubted promise, it suffered from a clash between David Ayer's original vision for the story, the studio's demands and fan expectations. There's no reason why it couldn't still be an interesting proposition, though. I'd love to see a good adaptation as I consider it one of modern-day DC's most worthwhile properties, as well as some of Paul Dini's best work. However, between Warners' recent track record of over-simplifying source material and the Harley/Ivy dynamic presumably being one of the most important plot points, I don't know if I trust them not to simply make 'Trash Level Fan Service: The Movie'.

I was just reading about Ibra in Alan Shearer's 'ones to watch' list. Apparently, the lad is new to the Premier League but keep an eye on him, he could be decent. But in all seriousness, I'd say the referee got it just about right. It felt like one of those challenges where, although you know it's a bit worse than a yellow card, it's perhaps not quite bad enough to be a red one.

With Fassbender on board, there's a chance this could work. I'll give it five stars if there's a scene of him wandering around in thick fog, waiting for the Animus to load.
  7. ABC has released all six episodes of Slingshot, the Agents of SHIELD spinoff centred around one of my favourite recent additions to the show, Elena 'Yo-Yo' Rodriguez. The storyline is pretty straightforward, with Elena on a mission to find the man who killed her cousin back in Season 3, but it's well worth a watch.
  8. Taking a random celebrity who's rich and very recognisable, choosing to ignore the substance of almost everything they've ever said, projecting your own ideas about what they stand for and worshipping them for it is quite the strange phenomenon. I wonder if it's occurred to anyone else to use it to their advantage. But if, for whatever strange reason, people have started attributing these quotes to Taylor Swift, then I suppose you'd have to say that turnabout is fair play.
  9. Oh, Hilary.
  10. Yep, you have until the end of the year. That's when I'll start counting the votes and preparing the final list and pics.

I totally agree, it felt very realistic. I'm pretty sure most people have been that rejected person at one point or another, irrespective of sexuality. I also like that Mon-El hasn't just seamlessly transitioned into hero mode, it was a nice twist that him finally trying to do some good saw him fall into the hands of Cadmus. They probably shouldn't have promoted that last episode as part one of a massive crossover when Barry and Cisco were only in it for a few seconds, people who were watching just for that must not have had any idea what was going on. Still, it's always nice when shows do little things right. Case in point, Barry introduces Cisco as his friend, but because he's still angry with Barry about the Flashpoint reveal, he doesn't let it slide and reclassifies himself as a colleague.

Finish top of the group and draw Bayern, finish second and they would have had Barca. Oh, to be Arsenal in the Champions League. Still, I wouldn't write them off just yet, a much worse Arsenal side only went out on away goals to a much better Bayern side. I could perhaps see Monaco springing a surprise against Man City, Jardim has a well organised team at his disposal and one that capitalises on the sort of clangers that Stones and friends have been repeatedly dropping all season. And, the wonders will never cease, Falcao seems to have sorted out his shooting boots.

Ridley Scott has become so hit and miss. It would be wrong to deny him his legendary status, but he's had enough stinkers in recent years for audiences to be apprehensive. I must say though, I never thought Prometheus was entirely deserving of the flack it got. I suppose like a lot of prequels, it probably tried too hard to answer questions that nobody asked and to establish a mythology by mashing together elements of Alien and Aliens, with a bit of Frankenstein mixed in. The human race being the truly monstrous creation and the xenomorphs just innocent biological weapons was an outstanding concept, even if it does all come off as something of a mix-up of confused ideas. I think taken out of the Alien universe context, it would stand on its own as half-decent science fiction.

It would be a real shame if people remembered Januzaj as a wasted talent, because there's certainly a good player in there somewhere. He has quick feet, dribbling ability and can thread the ball through the eye of a needle, but at the moment he looks to have all the upper body strength of a newborn baby. I get the impression that he's still in a huff with everyone because he never made it at United, so much so that Moyes, the one manager who unquestionably rates him, doesn't seem to think it's worth starting him. Overall, a bad day at the office yesterday, but we have to hope that it was just a one-off and not a more permanent return to the dismal form of earlier in the season. Chelsea in midweek is a write-off, which means we'll be needing something at home to Watford on Saturday.

  17. Huge thank you to everyone taking the time to submit lists. Don't forget everyone, they can be edited as many times as you like until I start the count at the end of the year. So if at some point you find yourself struck by an urge to rip it up and start again, all will not be lost.
  18. Slow motion is just a tool. Unfortunately, so are the filmmakers who use it as a crutch to support dull direction.
  19. Chelsea? Man, just when you think you know someone.

I'll take as much Anthony Hopkins onscreen as they're willing to give. Everything feels very convoluted at the moment, though. The show seemingly tries to get ahead of you by overwhelming you with unconnected content and non-linear storytelling, but in doing so, perhaps gets too far ahead of itself at times. Still, after re-watching the third episode, I picked up some extra information that I hadn't seen the significance of first time around, which suggests that they at least have an understanding of what they want to do with the story. I'm fairly optimistic that it'll all come together by the end.
  21. Did you catch that scene with the poster stuck on a lamp post advertising a martial arts class? I noticed that the camera lingered on that a little, and after a bit of scouting around online, I found out that the teacher mentioned on the poster and Misty Knight are strongly connected. A possible tie-in to Iron Fist there. So, how would you rate Jessica Jones?

Four episodes in now. I have to admit, the fractured narrative is getting a little difficult to engage with, but I remain intrigued enough to stick with it for the time being.
  23. Marvel has rolled out a brief teaser of the movie's first full trailer ahead of its premiere tomorrow. Trailers for trailers, whatever next?
  24. From what I remember, the line-up was a bit of a revolving door in the books (even Son of Satan, sadly unlikely to be given his own Netflix series, was a member for a while), but Strange and Hulk were almost always there. I believe Cage and Daredevil came on board later on.
  25. I never saw the TV series, although I remain tempted to give it a look at some point. From what I understand, it's still loosely based on the original material and shares main characters, a similar world-setting and sometimes makes reference to scenes from the movie, but they take place in different timelines with different styles and stories. Stumbled upon this on YouTube today, comparing the opening moments of the movie with those of the original anime.
