There is an equivalent for this moment, in the 1950s cinemas were filled with westerns and there were dozens of western TV shows on the air on top of that. Mirrored now by the MCU as well as the Marvel TV shows on Disney+. Now the western is still around as a genre but it's very much a niche and no one expect a broad audience to go to the theater to see a western. I suspect superhero media will face a similar downfall at some point but it will probably take at least another decade, maybe more.

There is still lots of good cinema being made, but most of it outside of Hollywood, which is only interested in superhero movies and in recycling old IP.

This horse has bolted the stables many years ago. UAE is heavily invested in Man City. The Saudis just bought Newcastle. Qatar has PSG as their plaything. Football sold its soul many, many years ago. The Qatar WC is just the most grotesque and extreme exponent of that reality. Really, no self-respecting democracy should allow their team to compete at that tournament.

I can't believe that a dude essentially ran an underage prostitution ring for him and his wealthy pals and the only person who might go to jail over it (rightly so) is Ghislaine Maxwell. Literally none of the men who committed statutory rape with trafficked underage girls are going to spend even a minute in prison for it.

The nude leak is real but it's odd to believe she herself did it. It seems much more likely to me that she made the pictures for some dude she was dating, who then leaked them online after they broke up.

The thing about Weinstein is that it was obvious nonsense that no one knew what was up. The dude has 80+ accusers. You have to assume that not every woman he victimized came forward. So the real number is likely very much higher than that still. You cannot do this stuff with so many women over so many years without a lot of people knowing. Which is kind of disgusting. Why would you want to work in an industry where you have to at least tolerate a serial rapist to be able to work?
