What I don't get is why would you as a parent let your 15-year old daughter date a 26-year old? It's just creepy, full stop.

It isn't just about the women who were cast by MJ for her "activism through SISE" nonsense. The models who aren't in that category have visibly declined in quality and status too in the last 5-8 years. I mean, I think Samantha Hoopes can be hilarious in her endearingly unfiltered nature in some of the interviews I have seen of her, but even in the early 2000s, she would have never gotten near the magazine (let alone during its 1980s and 1990s heyday). Yet here we are, with her having been in the issue SEVEN times. Compare that to say the 2001 issue: Heidi Klum, Elsa Benitez , Fernanda Tavares, Veronica Varekova, Yamila Diaz-Rahi, Daniela Pestova, Lujan Fernandez, Molly Sims, Josie Maran, Noemie Lenoir, Petra Nemcova, ... There is no way that Samantha gets within a million miles of getting into that issue.

A guy in his mid to late twenties who hits on high school aged girls is a creep. A rather massive creep if you ask me. But yeah, hair gel boy is long gone so no point in dwelling too much on that.

There is something more than a bit insane about a modeling industry that expect a 24-year old woman to have the exact same body she had as a 17-year old girl...

I think I would agree with that. After that there were still some decent issues and even the bad ones had some decent shoots. This year is the first one where I think the entire thing is terrible.

Personally I think the decline precedes MJ's tenure by a few years. Not that the absolute worst issues haven't all come under her leadership.

As a cultural artifact, SISE is not coming back from the huge decrease in quality they have endured over the past decade. It's now a sad shell of its former self. If someone other than MJ gets put in charge, there might be an uptick in quality, but it cannot undo the damage that has been done.

I am always amazed at how much young Cindy looks like Kaia does now.

Whenever I see her husband I cannot help but think of her story of taking him to meet her racist relatives and not telling him about their bigotry. I honestly would have dumped her for that, so he is a more forgiving man than I am.

It's clearly a risk to eat out today but it's a risk everyone should decide to take - or not - on their own? Obviously the reason restaurants and bars are open in spite of the fact that this pandemic is far from over is due to the fact that if they weren't re-opened by this point, almost all of them would go out of business. Which doesn't mean I necessarily agree with all of these decisions, but I can understand what was the reasoning behind them.

Once upon a time I would have said that this girl would be great for SISE, but now I have to conclude she is already too good for them.

There are so many girls who would be great for SISE who never even got near a casting call. I think it's not unfair to claim that the majority of BZ members could put together a better roster than what he have this year. But we are so far removed from the first priority being to cast models who look good in swimwear.

She's only back because she desperately needs the money. Not only did she burn through her VS savings, she also had several 100K worth in credit card debt IIRC. The woman who retired was so over the modeling industry (I don't blame her for that since some aspect of it definitely sound like they would suck if that is your entire life for years).

I think Erin didn't so much burn her bridges with VS and with SI but with the modeling industry as a whole. She was on a few podcasts when she was just retired and she sounded SO relieved to be out of the industry. The only reason she is back now is because she somehow burned through her mid to high seven figure nest egg in a couple of years.
