IMHO she has 'overreached' her potential by doing some things to show herself off to the public.  Her physique and looks are not conducive to a lot of modeling jobs which require a standardized body....that's perhaps why she got super skinny.

As far as acting goes, does she get training?  Does she practice with improv and theater?  That's what serious, aspiring actors do.  good looks are a dime a dozen.

I’ve paid way too close attention to Emily and her friends stories are the best lens to view her through because she seems phony on her own socials like she’s always posing and very aware of herself. I’ve been critical of her for a long time around here and often annoy others bc of it but I don’t think she’s a nice person, she seems self serving and insecure but I feel like she has a little something charismatic going for her and I want her to succeed. Why can’t people have opinions? We’re not sycophants and it’s not that serious.

The very fact that she has a thread on BZ, is known publicly and is not invisible like nearly all women as good looking as her is due to her (extreme) inherent drive to gather attention to herself.  It seems to me that you dislike her for the same reasons that attract you to her.

I've no problem with Emily, BUT did any of those examples begin & build their career off of posing nude? I think all of those women were established in their field well before posing nude...

Yes. They were already supermodels or famous actress.

I think another problem with her acting career is that she is supposedly very picky with the roles she picks, which is ridiculous considering she is a model-turned-actress who is just starting out. Charlize Theron and Sharon Stone, both Oscar winners, had to earn their dues in crappy movies before they got to move on to the better stuff. So why shouldn't she have to go through the same learning period?

The thing is, she needs to have actual talent to be a real actress...a few are naturals.

People who have studied drama, are actors, and work in theater are mostly not of common temperaments.  They are highly extroverted and neurotic in private- which often leads to personal issues as well.  I think a lot of models (eg. Hilary Rhoda) don't make it to the screens because their mental make-up is pretty ordinary and they have no training, which is exacerbated by the standard emotional range.

@LameImpala nailed it, had she went the bombshell route she could’ve booked so many popcorn blockbusters movies but she doesn’t seem to have a lot to choose from. Cruise was filmed two years ago and she’s probably the biggest name in the cast and there’s not even a trailer.

@Cult Icon you’re probably right, I did originally find her genuinely cool but what you said makes sense!  And I don’t believe she does any formal training, no. Unless the studio provides it.  Last year she told someone on a red carpet she had been working with a linguistic coach for lying and stealing. She would probably benefit from improv.

She looks pretty in those candids but lol at her walking around with her fist raised, she never does that but she was giving the paps the money shot of her typographic wedding ring, his says emrata I wonder if hers says sebobear :baronlamesign:

It's interesting reading the many threads lately.

Personally I think her previous nudity has nothing at all with what we are discussing nor is it relevant in the slightest. Whether she is clothed or not to me is not the issue; that's her choice entirely although I do find her hand-bra shots quite tedious now.  Either show them or not but save us from the endless hand bra shots for goodness sake!!!  Anyway..

I have been a big fan of Emily for quite a while until now. I followed and supported her at every opportunity but this recent situation of her cheating on her boyfriend then the sudden martiage has left me somewhat speechless, disappointed and bemused.

It's not my place to criticise him as I don't know him other than my initial feelings of.. "oh my god what the hell is she doing!"

I think too that her behaviour in this is poor as a role model to her younger followers and I wonder too what impact it will have on her future work. Maybe you feel it is ok to jump into marriage after such a short time but I certainly don't and would challenge the values of any organisation using her as their role model. So for me Emily, whilst being the obviously beautiful lady she is, has lost all of my support and following. Maybe I am over reacting but I feel strongly about this. Sadly I can't wish her well as I have lost respect for her.

I'm sure some will disagree with me but these are my honest feelings

@ptn247:
I agree with you about nudity, there are examples for success by actresses and models both doing early nudity (Cindy Crawford, Sophie Marceau) and doing almost no nudity (Claudia Schiffer, Tyra Banks, Jessica Alba). So i doubt this is a deciding factor.
If you read interviews about actresses who come from (not even full) nude modeling this becomes interesting though (Keeley Hazell did a good interview here on Huffingtion Post, i think).

Similar you can not link success to being married/in a relationship or not (in the past there was the assumption that models/actresses had to appear "available" and had to keep their status secret or had to lie about it to fit the marketed role)...there are enough examples nowadays pointing otherwise.

If you look at what changed in the industry it is the amount of self-marketing (through social media for example) while increasing the dependency of larger productions to advertisers and market research (focus group based, not idea based) leading to less risks taken the bigger the budget (of course there are exceptions, this is my impression so far). If you than have an agent as well, this becomes easily three different sets of presentation. This might be a conflict of interest for most big productions?

I don't know and would not see it inheritly as bad, if Emily is picky about her jobs (i was too and it did not hurt and saved a lot of trouble/stress). The latest Vanity Fair shoot looked very good and it does not look like a recycled shoot.

The studio has shuffled around the release date to I Feel Pretty again because a Marvel movie pushed up its release date. They’re really scared this thing is going to flop. The new release date is 4/20
