Well unlike many of the folks involved in the new Trek shows, McFarlane is a lifelong Trek fan and it shows in his "The Orville".

It's not just that. McFarlane knows how to write. Kurtzman and his goons don't know shit about writing. They're not only inconsistent with Trek tropes, but they're also inconsistent with themselves....

I hope McFarlane obtains the rights of Star Trek. I hope Kurtzman, Bad reboot (or Rian, Kathleen Kennedy and all the other vandals that trashed our favorite franchises) will go broke and stop peeing on everything we like.

It's good to see that there are a couple of good things left in Sci-fi. Most of the genre has been plagued by douchebags recently. Our genre, that we've liked for years/decades has been taken over by talentless zealots who know nothing about it and just want to force-feed their political cult...

Anyway, there are good guys left and that they are rewarded for their good work.

I would say that it's all of the genres and Hollywood in general are infected with nepotism that reduces the quality of art besides the political cultism.

I think as outsiders we're witnessing the collapse from within which hopefully leads to a new beginning.

^ It's because of all the fuss around the last season.

Honestly, I don't understand why people were so pissed after this season. Sure, it was not perfect (and probably one of the weakest), but it wasn't that bad.

@Stromboli1 @SympathysSilhouette

I just watched episode 4 of Star Trek Picard. It's bad, but not that bad... Sure, the writing is absolute garbage (and they made the inexcusable mistake of saying there are 3 billion stars in the galaxy..... while there are between 200 and 400 billion stars in the Milky Way!! ST is supposed to have reasonably "credible" science...)

I also hate how they disrespect Picard and the Federation all the time (it reminds me of other franchises that were vandalized)

Anyway, the direction and writing of ST are terrible, but there are some good things in their team:

- the casting is pretty good (I like Patrick Stewart - he's just great - and all the other actors are really good as well, except the elf from LOTR who looks odd in Star Trek )

- the music is very very high quality (I really like it)

- I like the costumes and general design

In short, the majority of the team is great, it's just the head that sucks...

The spin off series was canceled.  I haven't followed up on GOT as of late.

However, I've noticed that Game of Thrones paraphernalia has mostly vanished from stores.  I guess that's natural but IMHO if it ending in a way that was epic to the public, then it could have marked its place as an iconic franchise.

I also think that the Anti-GOT thing is quite silly.  GOT wasn't always 5 star material but it was for a long time- why not just focus on the good times past?  Vikings has a similar thing going on.  The fanbase was very negative in S5 due to the quality drop and Vikings' ratings went down.  The audience seems ungrateful and act as if GOT and Martin owe them something.

i miss all the memes and the Winter is coming hype..

Nope, never heard of the game either.

They are Witcher 3 DLCs. You have started the game, haven't you?

Despising the consumer seems to be a business model... not just in gaming but also Hollywood. These companies haven't died yet, because they're gigantic, but eventually they will.
