Besides being"non-establishment" candidates both Trump and Bernie have something else in common. Their campaigns are very heavily focused on external blame. In fact itseems to be their main platform. They approach it differently but when it comes down to it they are encouraging blaming on external factors. When it comes down it they basically saying " "Your unhappiness and you are not where you are entitled deserved to be in life because of the Establishment,..." Bernie: "...the rich, wall street bankers..." Trump: "...[insert all marginalized groups]..." This again goes back to my point about arrogance, pompousness, and self-absorb/centerness. Also it also further encourages our culture of fear and, as I told @Stromboli1, the incapability/unwilling to take personal responsibility. It was never intended to be that way but it has certainly become that I wouldn't necessarily say it's all about the blame, rather, informing the people about what the exact problems are and why we have the current conditions we do in our country. After all, to vote accordingly one needs to know some of the basic issues that many Americans are frankly completely unaware of. Trump on the other hand just spews out rhetoric and how everything will be #1 under his watch You could say he's all bark and no bite when it actually comes to solving issues or giving out any sort of ideas of how to go about fixing our countries corrupt entities. He knows the art of speech and how to manipulate people with fear and mass delusions of grandeur.

There is this movie (don't remember what's it's called ATM) that said something along the lines of the government tells us how we should think and who we should fear. It applies more than ever. Or perhaps the art of the deal Regardless of who wins it is going to be a long bumpy ride (hope everyone has buckled up!) and it is not going to end anytime soon. It is just the beginning. The effects are going to last way past the end of the election.

Their anger, frustration, distrust, pessimism, lack of confidence in our government. I think that's why we had so any "anti-establishment" candidates and a couple of them are doing quite well. However at the same time we do get the government we deserve because we don't always play an active role when given the opportunity. I include myself in this which is why I am careful in what I criticize.
