oxford25 Posted February 29, 2016 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Kat Yes, I remember when Leo came back to present the GG for Best Actress after he won for Aviator , but I, also, remembered he didn't walk the red carpet, nor did we see him in audience , he only appeared from backstage when it was time to give award . Campaigning is what most of them do, everyone's got to do a bit of it to a degree. And not just the principle actors, but it's moreso the ones behind the scenes. Anyways, all Leo really did was go to screenings and such. Then whatever else happened, like magazine covers and articles is all the media and some his publicist too. Leo didn't have control over all the attention. People were just rooting for him to win and the Internet loves him. Leo didn't do anything different, it's just some haters who are complaining want to attack him specifically because he's already at the top and they don't want to see him win an Oscar too. But too late, doesn't matter Leo is an Oscar winner!! He's the biggest movie star, The Revenants big box office (for a film hard to sell... aka not a sequel or superhero film) is testament of that, people all over the world rooting for him to win, he dates whoever he wants, he's still relatively young and good looking... Now he's got all the prestigious awards on his mantel piece. He's got everything. Spotlight had had the BIGGEST campaign of all. (Just listen to the experts who predict awards for a living and are in the industry, Tom Oneil said this himself) With parties every other day, pushing the whole important thing. Putting all these billboards all over LA. Creating those hashtags to cause buzz. Last years best actor winner Eddie Redmayne ran the circuit very well too. The Revenant star, who took home the Best Actor statuette, made the rounds on the Academy Awards party circuit – stopping by the Governors Ball and the Vanity Fair soiree. Along with his mom Irmelin, who was the 41-year-old's date for the evening, and dad George, DiCaprio and a small group also popped into Ago Restaurant, an Italian eatery co-owned by Robert De Niro in West Hollywood that serves things like veal Milanese and grilled salmon filet in a lemon and caper sauce. Both Irmelin and George brought their respective partners, the former with boyfriend David Ward, and latter with wife Peggy Ann Farrar. DiCaprio's The Revenant costar Will Poulter joined in, as well as the film's director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who nabbed a trophy for his work. The actor's friends and fans were quick to rejoice his win, with Titanic costarKate Winslet looking visibly emotional as he accepted the Oscar on stage.
