The spokesperson would not release details on what the pair talked about, but it’s likely that the conversation centered around climate change — a topic that’s important to both DiCaprio, 41, and Pope Francis. "The actor gave the pope a book of art from the Dutch Renaissance painter Hieronymus Bosch, and at the end of the encounter, DiCaprio kissed the pope’s ring and, in Italian, thanked the Holy Father for meeting with him,” a Vatican spokesperson tells Us. The Oscar contender recently donated $15 million from his namesake foundation to conservation projects around the globe. In 2015, Pope Francis, 79, released an encyclical — a papal letter to bishops in the Roman Catholic Church — calling for wealthier nations to lend a hand in solving the problems of climate change. Leo must have felt really honored. Hopefully Leo wins, then hopefully the talk of Cranston possibly upsetting, because he's so well liked in the industry with TV actors etc, will stop. This is the group that nominated Trumbo for best ensemble and showed this film more love than any of the other award groups. Though of course this year their choices didn't align as well with the Academy's choices as in previous years.
