@lice Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Milan-Barcelona tonight VISCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAR Quote
red_ed Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Wow. Barca failed to score for the first time in 30-something games in the Champions League. Well done Milan! Quote
Frederick Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Mid-naughties Steven Seagal films aside, Schalke-Bilbao might just be the best thing on Channel Five all week. Quote
Michael* Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Awful news about Stiliyan Petrov. Here's wishing him a speedy and full recovery. Quote
Frederick Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Its funny, when we bought Petrov I thought we were buying some indulgent, attacking midfielder. To be honest, at the beginning the indulgent bit certainly felt true, those first few months were patchy to say the least. So it was to my surprise and delight that a player would so keenly knuckle down and do so much hard graft to not only win his place in the team back, but to basically redefine his whole game and become the proverbial midfield engine room. Being a central midfielder for Villa in the past six years must often (very often) seem like a thankless task, Petrov's had more midfield partners than I've had hot showers, but through it all he's been a dependable, wholly committed presence; often under trying circumstances. I wish him the very best. Quote
astronomer Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Speedy recovery for Petrov and Muamba tooMilan game was good in many ways, I guess Barca fans can have a case about the penalty but the pitch issue is silly, just because Milan play on it doesn't mean they have an advantage on a bad pitch. Bad is bad for everybody, they should fix it for their own and stadium's reputation sake of course.FORZA MILAN for the return leg. Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Apart from awarding countless childish cards, the ref didn't do much wrong in the Barça game. People complain about the second penalty, but it is a stonewall penalty according to the letter of the law. The problem is that most refs in that situation just wipe their posterior with the rulebook. Quote
astronomer Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Replays showed the ball is not even in play when those pushes happened, never mind that both sides were pushing each other, so a penalty is not possible. Any way it's over now Quote
Frederick Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I hate Given.Those were some great saves made by Shay, especially when you consider that he must have damaged his neck having to look up so many times into Row Z after one of Jordan Henderson's "piledrivers". Quote
red_ed Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 It was a painful game to watch (just like all our other games <_<) Quote
Michael* Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 What with it being Easter time, would like to thank Christ that we're done playing Everton this season. Also looking forward to Fulham/Chelsea tonight, but only really to see if John Terry plays or rests himself. Quote
Frederick Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Dortmund-Bayern, title at stake, doesn't get any bigger. Quote
Michael* Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 ^I rarely get the chance to see Bundesliga games but I did manage to catch this one. A brilliantly improvised finish from Lewandowski. Quote

eNe Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 A lot of sad news lately in the sports. Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini collapsed during a game, and he passed away at the age of only 25. Quote
