Let's hope so, although deep down I think we all knew a result like the Portsmouth one was on the horizon. The expectation is that we should be stronger with a full season of a squad indoctrinated into old 'Jurassic' Parkinson's methods, I guess only time will tell if we have enough quality in the right areas to compensate for what promises to be a rather predictable style of play.
  2. Moved now to the male ID section.
  3. How crazy is it that we've all been beaten so senseless by such a relentless stream of nonsense that a story about the US president's personal lawyer being caught in a compromising position will probably just tip-toe quietly out of the news cycle soon enough.
  4. Yeah, which was a bit surprising, really. I remember hearing that even the original Borat featured people who during filming saw through the character as a put-on but were either too polite to bring it up or I think in some cases whose apprehension was sort of just edited around, and most of it still worked. That kind of stuff was always what I liked most about it, I was never quite as keen on the parts that you could tell were scripted.

Clearly, it's all gone downhill for Venlo since Lee Cattermole left. I myself would have liked a fourteenth to feel comfortable, but that may be just what supporting Sunderland does to your psyche.

It would have been fascinating to have seen Casemiro's heat map during the first half, from the way he was lolloping about the centre circle one could be forgiven for thinking he was out for an afternoon stroll. Madrid are perhaps suffering from slightly less of an identity crisis than Barca these days, but the best players are certainly passing their prime and with new stars seemingly yet to emerge. Hazard, barring a magical turnaround and a truckload of important goals and assists, must be a candidate for the worst high-profile transfer in football history, and there's every chance that Gareth Bale will be back next season to wait out his contract like a pillock.
  7. I must confess, I go hot and cold on Cohen, but as long as he doesn't fall back too hard on the "my wife" stuff or the other enduring memes the character produced, it should be worth a watch.

No Isco, no club or party at which people dance to recorded pop music. That scoreline was flattering for Madrid, honestly. It remains absolutely baffling that when Ramos is missing the team just loses so much character. I wouldn't dare bet on the Clasico this weekend.
  9. Not that I'm especially jazzed about any of the proposed explanations for her presence in the show, my money is still on the much-vaunted Ahsoka reveal happening in the last few minutes of S2's closing episode. She may even literally just appear onscreen to set up a potential third season.

The situation at Barca sounds uniquely shambolic these days, perhaps even worse than Manchester United, whose fans must be thanking their lucky stars that they have Ed 'Disneyland' Woodward.
  12. Not too sure of the exact nature of the problem but evidently it lies at our end and I've let the boss know. Apologies all round, guys. @jal718 @Chirkomania I've merged your topics with this one as it would appear that everybody is experiencing the same issue at the moment.

True, it's the same game but in name only. Subjective as it is I'd place Federer as my favourite of the current top three, as for who's the outright best I'd struggle to choose with a gun pointed at my head.

I would agree, I think discussions about the greatest ever are pretty futile, that being said it's hard to envisage Nadal's dominance at Roland Garros ever being matched. To win your local village's annual welly throwing contest thirteen times would be pretty incredible, to win a grand slam tournament thirteen times is far beyond anything I can think of in sport.

That didn't last long at all. Rafa only really blinked once in the third set, perhaps just briefly feeling the pressure of having to maintain such a high level.

Some momentum at last for Djokovic, having shown next to nothing so far.

If someone had told me beforehand that Djokovic would struggle to win four games by this point in the final, I would have said they were crackers.

This has been a real beatdown so far, the intensity from Nadal with so few unforced errors is pretty astounding. Djokovic just doesn't look right at all.

It's been a completely dominant slam from start to finish for Swiatek, which is certainly not something I'd have called beforehand, but the results have been as comprehensive as you're ever likely to see across a two-week tournament. It was well deserved though, her footwork has been inch perfect and her imagination was just on a higher plane to any other player. She takes risks that other people wouldn't think of, let alone try.

It was a strange one and perhaps more of a thriller than a showcase of high quality. Neither player seemed to play well at the same time which ideally is what we want to see, but there was probably more drama that way and I preferred it to the Thiem match.

Looks like we're getting the men's final most people wanted and/or expected. From what I saw of the Nadal match it was a valiant effort by Schwartzman, although he was probably never going to seriously trouble Rafa on Chatrier. Djokovic-Tsitsipas ended up being a real thriller, albeit after a slow start.
