Man of Steel (2013)
Word on the street is that there were some private studio screenings of the film for Warner Bros executive types recently (it's completed, bar all the post 3D malarkey), and their reaction was highly positive. Apparently (if you believe such things) it features bags of action and is considerably lighter in mood than the trailers seemed to suggest. http://collider.com/...ning-reactions/

Not uncommon for Barca to look somewhat jaded and uncomfortable between January and March then resurgent later, but with the players more or less managing themselves in Vilanova's unfortunate absence, it'll be interesting to see how they get on between now and the end of the season.

The Official Academy Awards Thread
Seemed very odd to me that ‘Argo’ took best picture, yet Ben Affleck was overlooked for a director’s nomination. Still, it means for the second year in a row that the big winner has featured John Goodman. Coincidence? I think not. ‘Lincoln’ really surprised me though, I expected a three-hour epic job with rousing speeches and lots of slow motion, but it’s actually quite a modest film and all the better for it. Daniel Day-Lewis nailed it, his performance was just the right mix of historical figure and real human being. You hear about actors 'disappearing into their roles' a lot, but rarely do you genuinely see it. No complaints about Jennifer Lawrence’s win either. She was an engaging presence in an otherwise rather silly film. All true, but anyone with a cursory knowledge of his act could have told the Academy what he'd bring to the table.

Well that's the line-up sorted for the 2014 SI Body Armour Issue. Which come to think of it, I actually wouldn't mind seeing.

So you're happily married to Tilda Swinton until Andrej Pejic and Saskia De Brauw move in next door. Just another day in the life of David Bowie, I guess. Good song though, I give it four laughing gnomes out of a possible five.

^It's funny, the lead track off every new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album seems to skew the feel of the rest of it somehow, if that makes any sense whatsoever. But I've no idea what to expect after hearing that. It's growing on me with every listen though, and *spoiler alert* the gospel choir knocked me for six at the end.

Playing the ‘Jaws’ theme to shift those giving unnecessarily long-winded speeches from the stage is probably the most entertaining thing the Academy has ever done. Apart from that, it was pretty predictable and overall, a bit of a snooze-fest. Didn't really get why 'Les Miserables' took best make-up and hairstyling either, Helena Bonham-Carter always looks like that. The William Shatner appearance was bizarre though, as was Kristen Stewart's apparently hazy recollection of why she was hobbling around on crutches.

Problems and Suggestions for BZ - Post Here
Yeah, that happens to me now and again too - it usually means that there are hidden elements of code attached to the text you're copying and pasting. If you click 'toggle editing mode' (the little lightswitch icon underneath 'reply to this topic') you should be able to see them. After that, it's just a case of deleting the bits you don't want.

New Primal Scream song, complete with rather unnerving video. That Kevin Shields, will he ever stop releasing new music?

Tomb Raider 2013
Also, Lara can cause MAJOR explosions! Looks promising indeed. If they can nail the narrative and strike a good balance between action, exploration and MGS3-esque survival elements, we could be looking at an early contender for game of the year.

^Really like the sound of that one. The opening gave me a slight 'How Soon Is Now' flashback. Is that ever since Little Lion Man broke? You should check them out live some time.. might change your mind about them Kind of since always really, even in the early days I found it tricky to get into them in any significant way. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a chance to see 'em live though, they always seem to go down brilliantly at festivals and suchlike.

I'm actually quite pleased that the Arsenal-Bayern result wasn't used by the press as another stick to beat Arsene Wenger with. Bayern (who turned in a near-flawless away performance) are one of the top two or three teams in Europe, while Arsenal are perhaps the current fifth best team in the Premier League. It was always going to be something of a mismatch and there was a far bigger gulf in class on show than in the Milan-Barca game. Which of course isn't to say that Milan didn't do well - quite the opposite in fact, Allegri's gameplan worked to absolute perfection. The second leg at the Nou Camp will still be a formidable challenge but I could see Milan scoring, which could well be enough to take them through. I remember when Sulley Muntari couldn't get a game for us.

I was a season ticket holder until uni and work came along, but I still try to go whenever possible. My win percentage has taken a bit of a battering as of late - the 3-0 against West Ham was only time I've managed to see them win in five outings this season. Fingers crossed for the Fulham game on the 2nd of March.
